IS karai the only villain in you're au?

OH no there are plenty of other villains!! shredder and the kraang are the main ones. karai is a part of it, but she doesn’t appear until “later” in canon. i haven’t designed any of the foot yet, so she’s still a work in progress for Project Underground

What versions of TMNT have inspired you the most for tmntpu?

these two i say were the ones that inspired me the most for Project Underground!! i’ve taken little bits of inspo from other generations even tho i have not seen them all the way through, like tmnt 2003! ive also been inspired by all the different aus and iterations ive seen on tumblr and tiktok!

while raph may be the leader and tries his best to be careful for his siblings, he more often than not is the “hit first think later” type, especially when it comes to protecting his. leo is a much better strategist and does her best to offer up plans to her older brother

-April is fun loving, very extroverted, and hyperactive! she loves getting into mischief with Mikey and is his number one instigator

-April is ADHD (hyperactive and inattentive)

-April is african american/dominican

-April lives with her grandmother! her parents passed away in an accident when she was 12

-April and her grandmother are fluent in dominican spanish!

-April met the turtles (on accident) when she was 13, shortly after moving in with her grandmother! she was going through a lot of grief and loneliness at the time, so she became very attached to the turtles very quickly

-April actually introduced Casey to the turtles a few months after she met them!

-Casey is a “laid back” character most of the time, but when he’s passionate about something, he’s often described as loud and “too much”.

-Casey Jones has been friends with April since the both of them were in middle school

-Casey has been transitioning since they were around seven years old, but did not start hormone therapy until they were fifteen

-Casey’s parents are divorced; he lives with his mother and little sister, while his older brother lives with his dad

-He visits his dad and brother from time to time, but they are not supportive of him so he’s not very close with them

-Casey will kill and doesn’t feel a lot of remorse for it if he finds it justified

-Casey was actually inspired by the turtles (specifically Raph) to become a vigilante

What does the Shredder look like in your iteration? Is he even called the Shredder?

i do not have a design concept for him yet, sadly😭he’s one of the characters i have not fleshed out as much yet. but his real name is Oroku Saki, and he IS splinter’s old love interest👀they were forbidden lovers (NOT siblings you psychos, they were from rival clans). when he first faces the turtles, which is “pre-canon”, he isn’t known as the shredder yet. he doesn’t don the “shredder” armor until after that battle. he is severely injured and burned by splinter after that first battle, so he comes back as the shredder after.

For project underground, mind sharing what the Kraang are like? I know you already said that they disguised themselves as a government organization, but I'm highly interested in what they're like if you mind sharing :)

FOR SURE!!

I really liked the idea from 2012 that the Kraang have been around for a long time, but felt like they did not explore it enough, so I decided to try and work with that idea in my own iteration!!

In Project Underground, the Kraang have disguised themselves and humans in power for hundreds of years. Monsters of legend? Mutants created by the Kraang that got out of containment or control. (ex. werewolves, loch ness monster, bigfoot, etc) The Kraang have been using earth as experiment testing grounds for eons and eons, then taking their creations and using them in their world conquering. They will eventually have their eyes set on earth, but that is not until the main “canon” of the tmnt iteration.

TCRI is just a special faction of the Kraang, mainly the scientists that work with mutagen to create mutant soldiers. The government knows of their work and actually gives them funding, and in return, TCRI gives them mutant soldiers for their own bidding. The government does not know that they are an alien species, though. The Kraang have a whole cover story that is centuries long in the making.

The Kraang are kinda a hive mind, if that’s the best way to describe it? They all work for the higher Kraang Council, and their only intent is to create weapons to continue conquering worlds. Their minds are kind of “numbed” by the higher council, so that they do not break away from the goal of the Kraang. Some of them are able to free themselves from the form of mind control, but it’s very few and they are usually dealt with very quickly.

I think that most of the Kraang act a lot like the 2012 versions, though they can speak normally lol. The higher council of Kraang are more like the versions from the Rise Movie; bloodthirsty but extremely intelligent.
