The US is so adamantly opposed to public transportation because it's the best way for people to step outside their ideological bubbles and interact with other communities and ideas, especially kids and teens.

A recent post breached containment so I think it's time for some rent lowering:
Trans children should have the right to undergo the correct puberty at the same time as their peers.
Puberty blockers were only ever a compromise and should not be seen as the end goal of trans advocacy.

i think that a lot of people downplay the harm that toxic masculinity does to men, not just mentally but as in like. the threat of physical harm or social isolation.
like it's mentioned in this post but ppl tend to act like the only thing stopping men from being soft and feminine and in touch w their emotions is their own mind. we downplay the bullying and violence and social backlash to gnc men and even just any man/"man" who rejects toxic masculinity. it's not that "men generally aren't in touch with their soft side" it's that society is actively hostile to those men and either they are forced to hide that part of themselves or they face constant scrutiny for it. we need to stop pretending like toxic masculinity is all internal, and we need to stop pretending like it's only hyper macho misogynistic men who perpetuate toxic masculinity. we need to start supporting men and especially boys who are harassed and abused and terrorized! don't just tell men to let themselves cry, they actually need safe spaces where being vulnerable won't ostracize them or bully them.

Someone was asking in a thread what kind of people could work for ICE right now.
I think it's a good time to remember that the image above are the people who put children into gas chambers.
When I was little, I asked what kind of person could work at a concentration camp.
The answer to both questions I think is "normal people who have accepted the dehumanization of another group of people."

I think much of the current Israeli government in power is despicable actually. My solidarity and support and love has always been with the Israeli people, who are very much NOT their government. I unequivocally support the right of Israel and her people to exist and live freely and safely. I unequivocally stand with the hostages in Gaza and their right to return home. I don’t, and won’t ever, support or excuse extremism on any side ever.

I’m sick of Jewish Indigenaity being questioned.
People don’t understand the concept of what makes a group indigenous.
Jews follow an agricultural based religion centered on Eretz Israel, speak a semetic language, half of our holidays are centered on the Land (Sukkot, Tu Bishvat, etc), we have stewarded the land off and on for 3000 years, etc
Like, they ignore ALL of that and then go “oh well Mizrahi are indigenous but Ashkenazim aren’t” like NO. I am Mizrahi, I am Karaite, do NOT EVER slander my Ashkenazi relatives. Do not EVER try to divide the Jewish people based on YOUR ideological fervor.
Ashkenazi have not only the SAME customs we do, but they have the SAME ancestry.
“But converts!” DONT YOU DARE.
EVERY JEW IS ETHNICALLY JEWISH, WHETHER ITS BY THE WATER OF THE WOMB OR MIKVEH.
We are a Tribe, a Nation, WE decide who our people are, not goyim!

Baby bird season is incoming and I’d like to remind everyone that birds do not have a significant sense of smell. Bird parents will not reject birdlets because you have handled them.
If you see smol birbs with few or no feathers on the ground, you can safely put them back into their nest, bird parents will still care for them.
If you see smol birbs with some or most feathers on the ground, please leave them there, as bird parents are probably nearby watching and feeding.
