rnm anime spoilers

some of my mutuals on here inspired me to get off my ass and actually watch the anime soooo heres my lil opinion on the thang

tldr: its meh but i'm holding out hope for the next eps, also apparently controversial(??) but i like the art style

i came into it knowing that the anime heavily leans on like. the weirder sci-fi concepts that the rnm multiverse allows. i mean. just look at Rick and Morty vs. Genocider but like. its an interesting concept sure but the execution is not the best-- it really worked better in its occasional shorts/special format it had before

its attempt to be a little more serious than the original show is meh-- the unconnected plotlines shit is something rnm has done before (roy game. interdimensional cable. mrotys mindblowers. blah blah) but it had yk. comedy to fall back on-- without that aspect it just feels very uhhh. nothing burger-y

but i only find this episode semi-acceptable just cause. its only the first episode. i'm assuming they're just trying to lay down everything now and they'll smooth everything out in the next episodes....hopefully

though it honestly feels like the writers are doing this towards the community/fans HELPPPP

also. why must we give morty a love interest yet again. can a boy exist without a random love interest being there. i don't know i'm okay with the potential of new characters coming in (shout out to frank. random ass guy) but i hate when mort just gets a random love interest SDKJFH hopefully they expand on her a little more as a character-- i thought she would just be a one off thing but then i remembered she's literally in the opening so. whoopsie!

ok but. for positives. i like the art style-- which i am shocked to learn is. not recieved the same?? the animation is choppy yeah but from what i remember the anime's always sort of been like that and i very much enjoy the funky color palettes n shit the anime's been doing.. yummy as fuck

also i'm glad they have the same/(or similar i didnt check) japanese vas for the anime-- question though for those who're reading this. is there an english dub???? from where i watched (argh me matey) there was only a japanese dub but i'm pretty sure some trailers had english vas so. idk

anyways yeah those're my thoughts

let it be known. i haven't rewatched this show in a while and it is indeed. 3 am. so i'm going purely off of my autism and pure vibes so. prepare for bullshit (though i might revisit these questions when i do rewatch... eventually)

fav ep: of course i love all the iconic eps of rnm like ricklantis mix up n shit like that but i revisit and think abt rickternal friendshine of the spotless mort the most. (of course the person that has birdrick as 80% of their blog has this as their fav ep. who could've predicted that. HELP MEEEE) IDK!!! it's a little bit of everything.. ranging from major lore drops to action bullshit... fun visuals... blah blah... and its honestly one of the eps that got me back into the show after dropping it for a few years so i have many fond memories with it

fav season: memory aspect plays a lot into this pick but probabblyyy s6? not the strongest season (tho obv theres solaricks analyze piss, etc etc) but i started this blog around the same time of its release and idk.. it was pretty fun to live blog about that shit while it was still airing...

fav char: unsurprised that the majority is saying rick (shout out to the rickfuckers out here hELP) but uuhhhmmmmmmmm uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh bp??? again. very shocking. HELP but yk whats not to love in that monotoned autistic bird dad. though tbh prime has been running around in my brain like a hamster on a wheel as of late. so consider that too

hardest hitting emotional moment: unmoricken. not like. hardest hitting in terms of devestation or anything but like. the PURE SHOCK. dude i remember after watching that being like. "oh my god." HELPPPP.

least fav ep: do i even need to say. when theres a fucking episode about monster sperm and is solved with a incest baby. the incest shit in general. agh.

least fav season: unrelated but i completely forgot about claw and fucking hoarder until i read the reblogs of this post oh my god. HELPPP add that to question 5 but uhhhh i think i have to agree with the concensus and say like s4 and s5 but leaning on s4-- obv both have its gems but. Jesus fucking Christ HELP

least fav char: other than. the obvious immoral characters. (jelly bean, planetina, etc etc). uhhh controversial choice here but. jerry. hELPPPP. i understand why people love him and my initial hatred for him has diminished to just a "meh" but i can't handle his patheticness sometimes like i have to skip some of his scenes for the sake of my own second hand embarassment ADFJKGFD

Don't know how I'm gonna start this off BUT basically after you do this, you have to tag 3 people and your tag has to say their favorite episode, favorite season, favorite character, hardest hitting emotional moment, least favorite episode, least favorite season, and least favorite character. I'll go first

Favorite episode: If you saw my ranking, you already know that it's Fear No Mort. Just a really emotional, funny, and it has some really cute moments.

Favorite season: I like season 3, it has a lot of good episodes imo.

Favorite character: It's Rick. He's the worst but I love his development, his complexity, he's funny, interesting, and fun to watch. I really love him!

Hardest hitting emotional moment: Uhh probably a tossup between the jellybean scene in Meeseeks and Destroy, the endin scene in Fear No Mort, and the ending scene in Unmortricken. The ending scene in Auto Erotic Assimulation is up there as well.

Least favorite episode: Again, if you saw my ranking I said the dragon episode, it just really sucks, there's not really any good things about it besides maybe the cold open.

Least favorite season: Season 4, there was a lot of particularly bad ones in this season and there was no amazing finale to make up for it like there was in season 5. There were some good episodes, but not enough to make up for this dumpster fire of a season.

Least favorite character: Mr. Jellybean. I mean do I HAVE to explain why? It's pretty obvious.
