i feel like the song Choose by cidergirl is a great addition because it not only applies to kenzaburou but also grace https://genius.com/Genius-english-translations-cidergirl-choose-english-translation-lyrics (if you wish to read all of the lyrics for yourself^^)

i feel like the song choose is kenzaburou and grace speaking to one another grace being unhappy i feel like grace is singing most of the song while kenzaburou chimes in to sing the chorus but most of the lyrics are directed towards him post chorus and verse 3 feel more direct instead of stating how she is unhappy she is directing them to him "[Verse 3] Some stranger acting righteous towards another stranger Even that makes me feel a sickening dizziness No matter what, self-defense slips through—one dot Life just doesn’t go well" criticizing kenzaburou as a direct jab saying he's only acting and doesnt truly feel this way towards commoners

giving more of my opinion to the lyrics and what i think each part is and means towards the characters

since i was only addressing them directly speaking to each other in the og post :3 i'll only be discussing lines i didnt discuss in my previous post so verse 3, the chorus and the post chorus i wont dive into again

i of course will dive into both characters and what it means for them since many of these have double meanings "[Verse 1] No matter how much time passes, I can’t escape this roleplay From morning till night, I am just a gear in the machine—no issues here 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9 Everywhere I look, it's nothing but villagers" this is unmistakably kenzaburou talking in the opening it is him we are seeing he is a gear in the machine and he is content with living that way even if it means shoving his otaku interests in a drawer while out and only indulging within his home but i also feel like it can somewhat relate to grace aswell two sides of the same coin but more unhappy with her place grace feels like she is acting day in and day out roleplaying she feels like shes a gear in the machine (she could feel like this because she is coded to be the next queen)

she has no issues with this though she has been taught that it is such a privilege to be such an important gear but sees the other villagers and feels envious

i feel like this can go for both kenzaburou and grace though gods in both place can mean more than one thing, maybe both are referring to an actual god but those Gods could be anything, it could mean kens family watching down above and aiding in whatever they need,

it could also mean the game developers who have already set out storylines for the world who have created said world both are god like in the sense of the world anyway,

for grace she has wished upon the stars for ages and yet she feels like the gods are smirking at her laughing at her for such a silly wish and leaving it unfulfilled she feels resentment that the gods will never look her way for kenzaburou it is that he has already been gifted with a great life he feels fulfilled in his personal and work life and feels like the gods are truly looking down on him and smiling, and granting him new life to help him and help others more "[Verse 2] Loop, loop—nothing ever changes In this scenery, there are no extra lives I try my best, I work hard But my headache hurts, so I return home" kenzaburou the in the loop of working in japan, go to work, attend meetings eat lunch at the same place overwork and then go home,

the scenery always will stay the same he has no extra lives and hes okay with that.

there is no doubt that kenzaburou is a hard worker and someone who does their best in any situations from what we have seen with his previous life and the one he is currently piloting

eventually after a long day he goes home with a headache

with grace its a constant loop of responsibilities,

classes, talking with someone else ,and sticking to her schedule

the scenery never changing most likely only hanging around her palace and at school throughout constant playthroughs aswell she is not use to change,

she has no extra lives shes only the villainess and her mind is most likely reset through playthroughs.

even so she works hard and she does her best on what she thinks is right which is likely pushing people away after the whole facade and her work she returns home with a headache

[Pre-Chorus] There’s a song that says, “Clap your hands if you're happy” But it makes no sense at all Maybe it's easier to laugh When your mind is completely empty i cant think of any other meanings for kenzaburou on this one so if anyone thinks of his say smt im geniunely curious, i also did struggle with meaning for grace grace is likely saying this because its absurd to her to announce when you are happy it makes no sense at all and she fines it easier to actually laugh and truly be happy when her mind is "empty" which could likely mean by herself on where she is most comfortable all of them have double meanings and i really like that touch (except for times they are directly speaking to one another)

looking at the new episode it really solidifies that grace feels trapped in her current life and now given the chance for some kind of escape letting someone else take over she may not feel like she deserves the right to be free. i think the dream sequence could mean a lot of things either that is where grace currently resides trapped in her own subconsious not wanting to escape and wakes up kenzaburou before he could set her free and talk or this is not grace at all instead her emotions or just a reflection thus why she is sitting still unmoving though there could be a discussion about the coding of the game maybe the cage is her coding keeping her restrained? we see in the intro she eventually gets out

as mentioned before in other posts grace and ken are extremely alike but ken is content with his life while grace is not

i also view confirmation that grace doesnt know her family that well growing up with the maids instead of her family as her brother is away, her mother is busy and her dad only visits from time to time and he is forgetting that she is growing up aswell

i truly think that the reason kenzaboru was picked into being her instead of the protagonist is because grace underneath the surface is like kenzaboru in multiple ways but instead of embracing it she was ashamed of it

i mean it makes sense most people in otome isekai's get turned into the protagonist because they play the game so much because they relate to the protagonist and play as her but kenzaboru hasnt played the game so he can find things from another perspective i want her to try working with the Meister learning how to fix objects by herself, i want her to love bugs just as kenzaboru and see all creatures as beautiful living things around her and to not feel trapped in her life angry at others for being able to live so freely
