It’s been fun...
August 10, 2019
This is the end of the “Two Minutes A Day” blog… at least for now.
This started back on January 1, 2016, when my son Wesley was 6 years old. The challenge was to make a drawing every day. The only rule was that he had to spend at least two minutes on it.
At first it was hard coming up with new ideas what to draw (yes, even for two minutes), and there were occasions when the streak almost ended, but he persevered and succeeded with flying colors. For 500 days straight days he made something and he drew more than he would have otherwise. Along the way he started up a weekly two hour art class on Saturdays.
About four months into the project this Tumblr blog started. For a while, everything got posted, and over time I guess you could say it has been sporadic, averaging about one post a week over the past year and a half.
But even though I have been inconsistent with the blog entries, Wesley has kept up with the art. While he hasn’t done a drawing or made something every single day, he’s done so on most days. There is a white board in the kitchen where I’ve tallied up how often he makes something. In the 1308 days between 01/01/2016 and 07/31/2019, he made something in 1231 of them. And what started out as a two minute a day challenge is now a thirty minute routine on most days.
Wesley turned 10 a week ago and he’s still making stuff. I am still saving a lot of it and will probably be posting stuff in one form another before too long. When his creations resurfaces, it might not be on Tumblr and it definitely won’t be of the “two minutes a day” variety.
Thanks for visiting and stay turned…
