"This was the day of my high school graduation day 06-07-2015. My father David Gonzalez was not there to see me walk and receive my diploma. That day he was working like every other day of the week. He works in agricultural farming, I am a Latina, my parents are Latinos working for the american dream. I had to go to him so he can see all his hard work paying off. Giving him my proof of what he has taught me. Your words don't have nothing against his sweat." -Selena González #GetLoud#Vota #IHM2016 (Via UndocuMedia)

Race Food and Justice
Some great resources from Cleveland’s Race Food and Justice Conference this year.
Some personal highlights are:
Elizabeth Yeampierre’s entire Keynote (though it’s very long), but especially her response to the first question at the 1 hr 8 min mark (about creating young leaders and talking about power with youth).
Naomi Davis’ PowerPoint presentation, especially as it pertains to the idea of “A City of Villages,” black land ownership, and gentrification as colonialism.
And especially this PowerPoint on Youth Perspectives on Food and Justice.

“Many times with white people that can have a negative effect. If there is too much passion attached to it, sometimes they feel like ‘oh he’s an angry black man,’ and they feel threatened.”
