It’s us!

Wanted to make a little something to decorate profiles and pinned posts in different places; a fun little thing of us/our sona and one of our kintypes (Bassie from Dandy’s World); really happy with how it turned out!!!

Probably gonna use it to finally make a completely new “meet the artist” thing for the first time since… 2022? 2023? We’ve been using the same base one for a long time now just with different art lol

Hey chat. Are we ready to acknowledge the intersection between queerness and alterhumanity yet? Can we embrace that in the end we are all fighting for our right to self actualization and get comfortable with each other?

•The experiences of alterhumans of color get almost zero representation in the wider alterhuman community and that's really something that needs to change. This sounds like one of those pandering posts, though it really is not. My experience as an indigenous otherkind identifying individual is vastly different than the experiences of white alterhumans, due to my connection with my indigenous culture and because of my involvement in irl indigenous spaces, though documentation of experiences like mine are practically non-existent in the alterhuman community. Essays and discussions of non-white otherkin experiences often get no traction or are just buried between tons of other posts. This, coupled with the fact that mostly white spaces can sometimes be intimidating for people of color (myself included!) to talk about non-white experiences in, presents a serious problem. Being an ally to alterhumans of color often stops when it's personally inconvenient for someone, and that gets absolutely exhausting to deal with.

•Indigenous alterhumans are so fragmented across the alterhuman community, for example. There is almost nothing in indigenous otherkin tags, either because our experiences aren't seen or because ignorant people have forced us into silence. We don't have our own spaces, we don't get to discuss our experiences without a bodily white person in the community saying something like "I'm 1/10th cherokee, ya bro I feel you there". Even talking about discrimination we face can get us into an argument if we don't phrase ourself in a perfect way. Indigenous alterhumans being so fragmented across the alterhuman community is part of why I'm starting a digital powwow for indigenous alterhumans to share their experiences, though I don't want to be the only one sharing my experiences with being indigenous and otherkin. I really want this community to get to a point where indigenous alterhumans feel safe to talk about their experiences without fear of judgement or the fear of facing ignorance. I want to see panels about the experiences of alterhumans of color other than the ones I've hosted myself, our experiences are important to be heard in the community!

•In spite of being minorities in our own community and in spite of everything else though, I really do want to encourage my fellow alterhumans of color to share their unique experiences with the community. Our voices deserve to be heard and appreciated, even if we are so fragmented across the community. If you do face ignorance from anyone, try not to let it stop you from sharing your experiences and expressing yourself. I really want to see more essays from alterhumans of color, I want to see indigenous alterhuman experiences being brought into the spotlight, it's even important to discuss the challenges of feeling alone in a mostly white community. I mean hell, there's only one other indigenous maya person I know throughout the entire alterhuman community. Try not to let ignorance or fear discourage you from being your authentic self in this community. We shouldn't be suppressed nor fragmented in our own communities!

Reminder! Animal packers no matter how realistic aren't promoting harmful zoophilic practices and don't count as beastiality. A human being sexual with a therian, whether they're using a realistic animal toy of some kind or not is not 'making someone into a zoophile' or beastiality. Drop it and leave it alone. Other people's dysphoria relief and/or sex lives don't concern you.

Me, playing Creatures of Sonaria for the first time in ages bc of the Disaster Event: this is gonna be fun! We can finally get some new species that aren’t just grinding and enjoy the game again!

you’re in line at the restaurant and there’s a dragon three tables over. that’s not really weird. you’re in the city, there’s all kinds of species all mixed together here. the weird part is she won’t stop staring at you

you feel your wings twitch. no one else can see them, of course. no one except her, because her eyes widen very slightly. how the fuck can she see them? you know they’re not actually there, even if you can feel them flexing and shifting as you move, but she definitely sees them because when you open them her jaw parts with an absolutely inscrutable expression

she watches you the whole meal and pretends she isn’t - watches your wings flex and your tail weave as you eat with hands that don’t bend right or have the right number of digits. her beautiful amber eyes stare into your own, somehow peeling away your skin to see what’s under it

when you go to bus your tray, you have to walk past her. she leans over and hisses “kin…” in your ear so quietly that even you can barely hear it. she knows.

animal/creature: Unspecified Anthro Animal

reasoning: In most of the transfurmations in the game that get textual descriptions, it describes how Colin likes his new body and “maybe being a (species) wouldn’t be so bad.” Lore wise it’s probably bc of the way the transfurmations work, but I like to think there’s some existing alterhumanity going on too :3

Theriform [Official Coining Post]

Theriform Adjective (can applied as a noun in certain phrasing, see examples)

From θηρίον (thēríon) [diminutive of θήρ thḗr, “wild beast”] and μορφή (morphe) ["shape"/"figure"/"look"].

Definition:

A theriform animal is one which was born into a body that is typical/expected of it's species and observable as such by everyone, with species-typical levels of sapience/intelligence and whose behaviour is unaltered by being born into a human body/raised in a form perceived as human.

It is not the 'opposite' of therian despite similar etymology but is instead to be viewed as a complimentary term to therian, nonhuman, alterhuman, otherkin etc as it exists to specify certain details of a species whilst not invalidating the identities of those who are not theriform. It is made to replace potentially invalidating phrases like 'bio(logical) animal' or 'real animal'.

It is not an identity label and therefore has no flag or symbol and does not need one. Do not create these things please, or use the term to describe yourself on a personal level.

Alternative versions for non-animals could include: floraform, nat(ur)form, techform, fictoform, feyform, voidform, starform, divineform etc

Examples:

"Lol it's so funny being a cat and having a theriform cat as a pet we're both just kitties vibing but with different body shapes."

"Just because they're the same species are you does not mean you are able to take care of wild theriforms."

"The fact that there aren't that many theriforms of my species is so saddening."

"I wanna do quads alongside a pack of theriform wolves so bad!"

"I am transspecies, here is what I do/what I want to do to look more theriform."

Karen Reyes - My Favorite Thing Is Monsters

animal/creature: Werewolf

reasoning: The art in the books is supposed to be drawn by Karen herself as she writes the story of her investigation into her neighbor’s murder, and whenever Karen draws herself she does so by making herself a werewolf. Throughout both books she calls herself a werewolf, even when talking to other people occasionally. The story is grounded in reality with no real supernatural elements, so this is entirely based on her self perception.
