CHARACTER SKETCH
Beautiful, intelligent, and sweet. Every parent wants to have a daughter like that. And the couple Imelda and Ronnie Panganiban did. On October 30, 1993 came their firstborn whom they had lovingly gave the name Andrea Ivanne.
In addition to the aforementioned descriptions, Andrea is witty, simple and a dreamer. She also identifies herself to be ever noisy and is full of mischief as a child. Nevertheless, she is an achiever and is very diligent to attain her goals--the type of lass who won’t stop until she gets whatever she desires to achieve.
Needless to say that with this kind of personality, Andrea got what she wanted. She graduated in the University of Mindanao where she took up the course Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. She worked as a graphic artist during the day and studied at the University of Southeastern Philippines with the course Teachers Certificate for non Teaching Professionals (TCPNEP) and eventually passed the board exam last March this year. Today she’s teaching at the University where she last graduated and is now pursuing her studies in a law school. When asked about what motivated her to be who she is right now, she confidently pointed at her parents and the way she was raised.
“My parents are masochists”, she told us as we had our own interview with her. “There’s no room for emotions at school so I grew up with the mindset that there’s no reason for me not to be on top of our class.”
Her parents provided well for her and for her younger sister’s needs but even so, she tells us that being a part of a family who expects you to achieve something was also tough in terms of emotion. “There were times when I felt like I’m a robot but at the end of the day I realized that it’s all for me and that good things take time just like great dreams come with the hardest challenges.”
Andrea also tells us that life does not always go well for us. This is what she had learned during the times when she was struggling with heartbreaks. “My life is a crazy ride of ups and downs. It is full of mistakes and shortcomings but it taught me how to be strong enough to stand up and go on. Maybe I’m strong and tough right now because the death of my father forced me to be. I need to stand for my family so after that I became a mom to my sister and a companion to my mother. Maybe what I learned in that situation sums up to this: when you are too broken and jaded, buried at the bedrock, you don’t have any choice but to stand and go up.
Tips for those who want to be a professional like her? Here’s what she says, “Do what is needed at your age. If it requires you to study then do a lot of studying and if you have a dream, work for it.
Given that at the young age of 22 she has already achieved a lot, Andrea still dreams to become a lawyer, to have a family she can call her own and to have a happy life. “I’m just a simple person. Stable life for my loved ones and for my future family--that is all I want in life.” :)

Holding On
Memories fade but they never lose.
Colors change as time exchange of hearts.
Friends we’ve made I don't want to let go.
After everything that we have done,
times up and the next stage of life began.
But if I hold on to the memories and use them to guide me,
will you right here beside?
I need to start a new life and I just don't want to say goodbye.
Life goes on and we suddenly see, its time to find who I am to be.
We couldn't wait for mystery, now we wish we could start again, to cherish each second we have,
and treasure every dot of time.
I can thank you for sparing a moment,
for giving me company and for being my friend’ cause with you,
I feel I really belong. For the memories that we have,
it maybe the treasure that I cant exchange with anything.
The only treasure that no one can steal from me.
They may fade but they never lost.

Aldub Phenomenon
Why many of our kababayans are hooked in watching this accidental love team born from a segment of a popular 36-year-old noontime variety show? There must be something in them that makes every Filipino fall in love and get addicted with their show. Well, the immediate social reaction we can get is the obvious kilig or thoughtless giddy sensation we feel while watching this two lovebirds yet to be seen together. With the sensational popularity of the show, it’s hard not see a few memes that would elicit laughter with sneaky double meaning. So what makes this love-team so liked and admired by many despite its simple plot?
It is so hard to understand the secret recipe behind the tandem of Alden and Yaya Dub. Other people might say that this doesnt make sense but how a simple show endearing into millions ? It’s great to see the conversations between Alden and Yaya Dub done through song or lip sync, complete with facial expressions and body movements. We now have become familiar with the songs ‘God Gave Me You,’ ’Thinking Out Loud,’ ‘Wish I May,’ etc. It also doesn’t hurt whenever Yaya Dub/Maine displays numerous emotional faces (mostly funny) while singing, particularly when each song stops.Additional kilig factor: the exchanges of notes. And these are handwritten (not text via smart phones), undeniably more personal and more sincere, a demonstration of love that that defies distance. It is true love that braves Mr Plywood, endures long tables and ignores men with dark glasses (the Rogelios). It’s love that penetrates the split screen. Aristotle believes that the replication or mimicry of nature or “real-life events” is very important so that its audience can relate to the message of art. The more accurate art reflects the true experience of an individual, the more he or she can be drawn to it. This could be one of the reason why Aldub must be the favorite of every Filipino today. Of course, if there are people who are loving Aldub, there must be a group of people who are trying to destroy or make any distraction to them. They are discriminating us, Filipino by our culture of becoming happy in a simple way. Maybe its true that we Fiipinos are always wearing smile in our faces despite of all the problems we have. Through the tandem of Aldub, makes everyone happy and realize that problems will not stay forever because NOTHING LASTS FOREVER. In this characteristics, we may be able to laugh on our mistakes and learn from it. It also allows us to move on and make every seconds of our life be better and get motivated by the show. Kalyeserye also gives a message to the televiewers that they need to give importance to our culture on how or what is the proper way of respecting the adults. Then there is Lola Nidora. She is there, helping us reminisce about those forgotten traditional values. We all love to remember how things used to be. The character Nidora reminds us of our loving grandmas and/or mothers who would always instill discipline, values and the appropriate gestures on how we should deal with people outside our home, particularly when it comes to courtship. Most of the young people today are very fun of using the social media and almost forgot the good traits and values that our ancestors has taught us. The good side about them is that, Maine Mendoza (yaya dub) and Alden Richards are very nice and agreable person in real life. They are always thankful to all their fans who are supporting them. Kalyeserye almost get a millions of tweets everyday and still counting.
All in all, lets be thankful to this show because this represents the Filipino values and reminds people all over the world that the Philipines is full of cheerful countrymen. In the Kalyeserye, Alden and Yaya Dub are persevering and ready to face the obstacles, the Lola’s who are always ready to give advice and help, Rogelios who are always ready to follow the command of lola and Lola ni Dora who brings back the old generation and reminding us the good values. Aldub is a great fad and it may fade one day. While this love team is still now, lets enjoy the show and learn something from it, the Aldub phenomenon.

Fault
I have my pride, she has hers too
With this my heart was heavy
Then finally I went to her
And told her I was sorry
For not confronting her when she
Has done some things I hate
Inside my head I heard her say
"Everything's too late".

Indigenous people: already discriminated, already deprived, already illiterate.
People are not aware with the issue of the Lumad people – their deprivation, the discrimination, fear, struggles and illiteracy. The Lumad people are natives of the Philippines that live in the mountains of the Davao region. They do farming and livestock-raising for a living. Mostly the people of this native group have not attained education or training. And with the issue of the conflicting military operations, things just got even worse. Anyone that lives in Davao have been hassled by the number of littering Lumad children on the streets, corners, or elsewhere. But few are aware why they are there. First off, they are in Davao due to the order of evacuation the government has sent to them. Due to the military operations between the NPA and the AFP, living in the mountains is unsafe. But with the lack of education needed, the Lumads have nothing to make a living, and so they resort to begging and theft. Schools/universities, barangay officials, and private organization have done a lot of things to help the indigenous people. And one thing that seems important is the contribution of schools to the Lumad children. So what’s the point? Well, even though schools and organizations help the IP(indigenous people), they are relatively few. This also results to few IP being helped. And the issue is that support is lacking. Support from whom? The government and community. Why is support lacking? Because of the unawareness of people with this issue. One observation about the community is that the community especially the residents do not involve themselves with these activities. The government has not given enough effort to these people, and education for them is still deprived. Now, how can the IP make a better living. Well, that is through education. Education they don't have. Education they are deprived of. Lumad schools have been stopped because the government believes that these facilities are NPA schools. The schools which are the only thing that could help the children are not only lacking in books and other facilities, but are also cut off from service.
People should be enlightened. The IPs should be given attention. The government should make effort. Save our schools. Give the Lumad the education the deserve. Note, education is a right, not a previlige.

Quote
Right Time Its so hard for me to forget you, But I cant do that because I love you. In every minute or second, I'm thinking about you, But I don't know if you're doing the same thing too. Its a great day if you'll gonna say Hi to me, Your presence gives joy to me. The way you dance so gracefully, Makes my day, heavenly. You’ve treated me like a princess before, While looking myself in the mirror. All of my feelings was tore, But don't worry, I will not disturb you anymore. I don't know your perceptions, But this is one of my reaction. Loving you in a wrong place, gives me a lesson, This is not the Right Time, a perfect realization.

”Let Go”
We begin from Hi and Hello,
and here are you now, letting him go.
I feel so good when I'm with you,
But its over, I'm sorry to tell you.
Many tears has fallen,
But smile and keep going.
Rejection, a perfect description,
Instead of quitting then find a solution.
There’s a reason in every situation,
So never assume and make him as your inspiration.
