Nia and Tate part 5
*in plane* Tate: we're almost there, why you so quiet? Nia: nervous Tate: about? Nia: starting a new job, a lot of things Tate: you'll be fine Nia: how you know? Tate: I've seen your work, you will be fine. We landed and made our way to the hotel, I'm not going to lie all my insides are freezing. Nia: are you trying to kill me? Tate: don't worry it's not going to as cold inside. We got to the hotel it is beautiful. I'm not even going to ask for the price, we get to our room, the view is breathtaking. Tate: we made it right on time Nia: time for what? Tate: fireworks Nia: can I take a shower first? Tate: it depends on how long you are going to take Nia: *throws herself on the bed* I'll just wait Tate: and I will order us some wine Nia: I don't drink Tate: it's new years eve, you at least need one glass. *walks off to order the drink* We have a great room with a nice sitting room and a very nice bathroom, everything there is definitely worth whatever thousands he's paying. *moments later* Tate: I have Red and White wine, which one would you like? Nia: I'll have wine for the first round Tate: first round? I thought you didn't drink? Nia: well if I like it I might go for another round Tate: well I hope you do like it Nia: *stands by the window*  I wouldn't mind living here if I didn't have responsibilities Tate: really? Nia: you sound a little bit too excited Tate: what? it's a great place to live Nia: for people who can afford it Tate: it's almost time10987654321 Tate: Happy New year Kimberly Parker Nia: Happy New Year Larenz Tate *kissing him* Tate:*pulls her closer* Nia:*pulls away* maybe I should go take my bath now Tate: I thought you said a shower? Nia: what's the difference? Tate: one is longer than the other Nia: well you should've let me shower earlier,  and since this one going to be a long maybe you can join me, oh in your word to save water. Tate: I'm always up for saving water Nia: I'll get the water ready Tate: how about you change your clothes and I'll get the water ready Nia: sounds good While he's doing that I just walk around the room, touching stuff, turning around he's standing here in a towel Tate: water's ready Nia: okay Tate: you can go in first I'm going to get something from my bag Nia: okay Walking in there I realize that, there was a lot of thought and preps put into this room with the amounts of candles that I see in there. getting in the water it's a bit too cold for my liking, I'm not going to say anything. *minutes later both in water*
Nia:*leans on him* this is relaxing Tate: best new years ever Nia: best birthday present ever Tate: this isn't your present Nia: it isn't? Tate: no Nia: oh Tate: yeah Nia: so tell me something Tate: anything Nia: do you do this often? Tate: do what? Nia: you know this, fly to a different country- Tate: no, I do not do that often. I haven't had a girlfriend in ten year Nia: but you spend money like it's nothing. everything you got me for Christmas rounded up to quite a lot. Tate: you looked at the prices? Nia: didn't have to, I know the brands. Tate: look, I don't spend as much as you think. Nia: really? please tell me why do you have four houses and an apartment? Tate: The apartment is to be closer to you Nia: okay, I get the apartment, what about all the houses? Tate: are we really going to talk about that? you want me to sell the houses? fine I'll sell them, buy another one so you can live with me Nia: what? Tate: move in with me Nia: I can't Tate: why not? Nia: you're right, let's save this conversation for another time. sitting here talking, I began to wonder, where do I see myself in the next few years? where do I see this thing, this relationship going? it's fairly new, I really like him, but to tell you the truth, I'm scared, I'm freaking out. what if it doesn't work out again? what if everything that happened with luke happens again? Tate: look, Nia, I'm not Luke okay? I have no interest in my assistant like I said before. and I really really really like you to, and I'm hoping that the next few years are just as nice as this one, and hopefully with some more additions Nia: okay you are thinking way too far ahead, and how did- Tate: you were thinking out loud. Nia I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make this work, okay, all I want is for you to be honest, and trust me. If I do something you don't like, you have to tell me. okay? Nia: okay, how about we get out of the water now? Tate: that sounds like a good idea *Tate's view* After getting out of the water, I get out of the bathroom so she can do all her female nighttime routines, and also drying her hair and such. I'm sitting here being the perfect gentleman, this girl walks out in something I was far from expecting. Nia: *walks towards him* Tate: should I sleep on the floor? Nia: why? Tate: if you come to this bed like that, I won't be much of a gentleman. Nia:*wraps her arm around his neck* who said I wanted you to be a gentleman? Tate: I'm sorry Nia: prove it This is the beginning of a great year, oh and I don't have to say what happened after that do I? *next morning* Maybe we should've closed the window because of the sunrise right on the bed, and next to me the most beautiful sight, Nia's fast asleep. Nia: stop staring at me oh so I thought Tate: good morning Nia: morning Tate: how was your night? Nia: good, yours? Tate: shiiit I had a great night Nia:*smile* while you're thinking about last night, my stomach is thinking about food. Tate: copy that, what do you want to eat? Nia: I want to eat something heavy Tate: it's morning, it's only breakfast Nia: well I'll wait till noon Tate: I won't I order breakfast just for me because she said that she would wait until lunch. *25minutes later* Nia: this is actually good Tate: really? I wouldn't know. didn't you said that you would wait for lunch Nia: yeah, but this looks good, and taste good to Tate: again I wouldn't know Nia: just order another Tate: *sigh* would you like anything? Nia: yeah, lunch should I mention that she's still eating breakfast? I guess this is the joy of having a girlfriend right. We had lunch and now I'm dragging her outside of the hotel. Tate: It's not so bad if you wear the proper clothes Nia: it's still snowing outside Tate: *zips up her jacket* you did not come here just to sit in the hotel room, you need to let loose, live a little The goal is for them Nia to have fun and not just stay in the room, not that I would have anything against it. Tate: there you're all bundle up, let's go. The first few minutes was weird but then she got the hang of it. Tate: there's a skating rink nearby do you want to go? Nia: busting my ass was not part of my plans for today, as a matter of facts, leaving the hotel room wasn't part of it either. Tate: well staying in, wasn't part of mine. We fight before we did anything, but at the end of the day, we both had fun. The following days Nia relaxes a but and that makes the rest of our trip even more fun. *last night in hotel* Nia: the week went by fast Tate: I know, I'm not ready to go back to work. Nia: yeah, I'm looking forward to my new job. Tate: you're not nervous? Nia: yes, but I'm also looking forward to the fresh start. which is weird because I don't normally like to get out of my comfort zone. Tate: I notice, you don't look like you want to leave your apartment. Nia: I don't. maybe I should just work hard and buy the building. Tate: that doesn't sound like a bad idea. You're smart, if you work hard enough, I give you about ten years you can buy it. Nia: you're just saying that aren't you? Tate: Nia I think by now you see how serious I am when it comes to business, I'm not going to sugarcoat it just because it's you. I will actually tell you the whole truth because it's you. Nia: so you think I can be a big shot like you? Tate: you have the brain for it, but you're gonna need a lot of experience, and also you need to be a lot tougher than you are. Nia: I am tough Tate: trust me you're not. when you go the board meetings, it's 99% male. That 1% of females that are there have all these people making them feel stupid, or they don't know what they're doing, or they said that you should be at home they just ridicule you like that to break you down. Nia: you do that too? Tate: do what? Nia: putting women down, telling them that they should be at home cooking and cleaning Tate: okay my woman will have the choice whether she wants to be a stay at home wife or not. If she wants to work, I'm all for it, and if she wants to go to work, of course, I'll support her, at the same time if we have kids, we would need to work a good schedule because we both can't be away for days at the same time. but you know what? Nia: what? Tate: maybe someday, we'll see each other at one of these meetings Nia: I hope not Tate: don't worry I'll go easy on you Nia: that makes me feel much better Tate: oh before we leave I will give you your birthday Nia: *sits up* ooh I'm excited Tate: *hands her a little box* Nia: what's that? Tate: open it Nia: *opens it*  a ring *scratches her forehead* Tate: it is, and no it's not an engagement ring Nia: *exhales* Tate: it's a promise ring Nia: a promise ring? This all played out differently in my head to tell you the truth. I know it's soon, but I think I met my match. Nia is smart, responsible, beautiful. The girl has a brain in her head, my parents love her, she gets along with my family, which is the only people who are the most important to me. Tate: look, if you need some more time to think about it Nia: it's not that it's just... Tate: what? Nia: I just have a few things that are bothering me. Tate: okay tell me Nia: ... Tate: Nia I told you if you're not comfortable with something, you have to tell me. Nia: I'm just not comfortable with you being that friendly with your ex-girlfriend. Tate:  Tara and I are just friends. Nia: I know, you told me that, and I'm telling you that I'm not comfortable with it. Tate: *sigh* Nia listen, there is nothing going on between me and- Nia: you also said that- why are we even still talking about it if you still taking her side Tate: I'm not taking her side, I'm just saying you can't judge her without getting to know her Nia: okay, you made your point Tate: Thank you, and I want you to give it a thought Nia: okay I have no plans, now or the future to try to get along with her, I don't owe her or you that. Unless one of her three kids are yours, since we are at putting the base foundation of this relationship me getting along with your ex will never happen. Tate: okay Nia: okay Again, not how I planned it. We called it a night. next morning we had breakfast and head home. *in front of apartment* Nia: Thank you, I had a great time freezing my ass Tate: I'm glad you had a good time Nia: maybe the next vacation I pick the place, you know somewhere with sands, trees Tate: what? you like the ice Nia: I will never get through to you and that Ice will I? Tate: no Nia: okay Tate: when will I see you? Nia: whenever you want Tate: how about tonight? Nia: except this weekend Tate: okay, how about dinner on Monday, you starting a new job, you can tell me all about it. Nia: sounds like a plan *leans in and kisses him* We made out for a little..while and then I went back home. *Nia's views* When I get upstairs, my apartment looks good and I live alone again. My family move back to their own place, I'm finally alone again. I called my friends over just to chill out *two hours later* Abby: next time you guys are going on vacation, I'm coming *looking at the pictures from her vacation* so tell us about the things you did not take pictures of. Rob: do you have to be so forward? Abby: what? like you don't want to know? Kia: she is glowing, so something happened Nia: something happened... it happened. Abby: well Nia: well I was satisfied. honestly, everything was fine, and then it gets weird Lewis: what happened? Nia: Tate seems to think that Tara is mother Theresa, asking me to get along with her. Kia: what?  this b*tch is evil Abby: what did you say? Nia: I told him that is never going to happen unless one of her three kids are his, even still I don't wanna have anything to do with her. Rob: at least you had a great birthday vacation as a present Nia: that was not my present Kia: what was it? Nia: *opens her purse and toss the little box to her* Abby: you got a ring? Nia: it's a promise ring Lewis: why aren't you wearing it? Nia: I wasn't sure, I'm still not sure. Kia: not sure about what? Nia: I don't know, everything just happens too fast. Kia: Nia a promise is a symbol of his love for you, and that he's serious about you guy's relationship. From what we've seen before he really cares about you. That's coming from me a person who's not even interested in dating. Lewis: when did he give it to you? Kia: yesterday Kia: yesterday was the 5th, your one month anniversary was yesterday, wasn't it? Nia: man that totally slipped my mind. Rob: look you know we all want what's best for you, and that is for you to be happy Lewis: are you happy with him? cause if you don't end it now before it gets too far Nia: I don't know Abby: what do you mean you don't know?  you either do or don't. do you want to make things work for this guy, I mean he's giving you a promise ring after a month meaning he's ready to settle with you. Nia: I'm not ready to settle. I'm going to start a new job, I've been taking care of my family my whole life, I want to enjoy it not being tied up. Rob: babe it's not an engagement ring, it's a promise ring, it just let people know that you're taking before they even approach you. Lewis: he seems like an openminded and fun person, you want to travel he seems to enjoy traveling. Nia: I don't want him to follow me around all the time Kia: just tell him Abby: other than that do you have any other problems? Nia: Tate and I have an age gap and- Kia: age gap? how much of a gap are we talking about? isn't he like 35 or 36 Nia: Tate's 42 Kia: 42 years old? Abby: so, he's almost 13 years older? Kia: so you were born when he was going through puberty Nia: thank you, Kiara, make fun of me all you want Kia: make fun of you? Abby: girl, please you found yourself a mature responsible man. Lewis: so what he's older than you, personally, the only issue that I see is that he won't be able to keep up with his kids That's one thing I never thought about. Kia: you have to get him something. Nia: like what? Abby: I don't know, a ring to put on his finger to show everyone that he's not on the market. Nia: I will do that later Abby: later? you know what let's go right now Nia: Abby- Abby: I'm aware that you came home today, but if we don't go with you, I have a great feeling that you won't go. We went out I bought the presents for him and made our way back. after my friends left, I take a shower and go to sleep. I spent the next day sleeping. *Monday* I'm starting my new job today, and my mother comes here bright and early to make me breakfast. Nia: mom you didn't have to come here this early for that Mom: why not? Nia: I don't need packed lunch Mom: I know, but that's just my way of saying thank you for helping us get back on our feet Nia: mom, you carry me for nine months, I can never repay you for that and please don't start crying, just consider it as me paying you back for nine months rent, and all the years of me taking over your bed, and all your stuff I break. Mom:*kisses her forehead*  have a good day Nia: you to mom The relationship between me and my parents has gotten better because I think they feel guilty about me being the youngest, and they can't help me financially like they would want as a parent. For my first day, I'm wearing a navy blue pants suit, hair pulled back, and one of them expensive gifts, I'm not going to lie I look like one of the rich snobs. *one and a half hour later* It's a good thing I left early because the traffic to that place is ridiculous. when I get in the office, I feel like the new kids, with all the stare. Thankfully I meet up with Louis before I can talk to anyone. Louis: Parker? Nia: Good morning Louis: you look uuhh great Nia: thank you, and you're not looking too bad yourself Louis: Thank you, I'll take you to your office Nia: okay We got up to the 20th floor, when I get there you can tell it's like my old job, the one that actually does the work and someone else takes the credit. I got the big office and they have the small things. Louis: Can I get everyone's attention? This is Ms.Parker, she will be the head researcher for this department, I hope you guys get along. Jerry right here will be your personal assistant, she will help you get started. After Louis left it to get a bit awkward. Jerry: Mrs. Parker can I get you some coffee? Nia: oh please it's Ms.Parker, I don't drink coffee, I'll have some tea please if you have any. Jerry: okay any specific kind of tea? Nia: mint, please if you have any Jerry: I'll check to see if we have any Nia: okay *5minutes later* Jerry: there you go Nia: Thank you Jerry: you're welcome. Nia: so, what're all these files on this desk? Jerry: well the last person who was at this office- Nia: let me guess, sits on his or her butt, and bosses you guys around to do her job Jerry: pretty much Nia: well I'm going to start by putting all these files on the computer Jerry: okay I'll join you in a bit Nia: Join me? Jerry: yeah to show you what to do Nia: I'm not like your last person that sits at this desk if I need something I will ask you. There is a lot more work than I was expected. I thought all I had to do was adding files, but one of the numbers and the files don't match. *hours later* I've sat here not paying attention to anything, it's 2 PM and everyone just sitting on their desks. I had to go ask if they don't have a lunch break. Nia: hey, Jerry? Jerry: yes, would you like something? Nia: yea, when do you guys go on break? Jerry: lunch break is at two, but- Nia: why are you guys still here? Jerry: we're waiting for you to give us the okay Nia: why? Jerry: our last- Nia: you know what don't even finish that sentence, have a good lunch. Again I went back to my office and just work till late at night. *Next day* Jerry: Good morning Nia: Good morning Jerry: I brought you your tea Nia: yes, please Jerry: anything else you'd like? Nia: no thank you I had the same routine pretty much the entire week. I'm excited that I'm going to see Tate tonight, finally Friday for our dinner date that got canceled on Monday. *in elevator* Jerry: hey a few of us are going to get a bite do eat wanna go? it's not a fancy restaurant but the food is pretty good. Nia: I would but I have a dinner date *phone rings* excuse me Jerry: okay Nia: hello Tate: hey are you out yet? Nia: yes, I skipped lunch for our date Tate: about that- Nia: you're canceling on me again aren't you? come on I've been  looking forward to this all week Tate: I know I'm sorry. but I'm all tied up in the office I don't even know when I'll get out. I promise I'll make it up to you over the weekend. Nia: yeah, *hangs up the phone* Jerry: the offer is still valid you know Nia: lead the way. I followed her in my own car. When we get there the restaurant is completely empty. turns out that it's her family restaurant, a few more people from the office shows up. Jerry: Parker these are some of my friends from the office, Amy, Sam, Brandon, Cara, Deb and this is Ralph. Nia: hello Jerry: you seem to be close to Louis Nia: not really, he hired me Deb: no wonder you know what you're doing Nia: what do you mean? Amy: well the last head of department we had, was just giving the position Nia: who hired her? Sam: Lance Nia: Lance? Bran: I guess you haven't met him yet? Nia: No Ralph: He's the older brother Amy: more like the playboy Deb: he hits on anyone and everyone Sam: get ready for it Nia: he's gonna be barking at the wrong tree. Bran: so tell us about yourself Nia: there really isn't much to know about me, I'm not that interesting. Ralph: you live around here? Nia: no, I actually live two hours from here Bran: but you get to work on time every day Nia: I kind of drive fast, and I also leave my house early. Ralph: how old are you? Nia: I turned 30 two weeks ago We talk and talk until it's getting late and I have to leave. Nia: well I should get going, I'm also going to order some food to go. I got some food and head out *meanwhile* Jerry: you know I think she has a boyfriend Bran: so, she's hot Deb: please don't make it awkward for the rest of us. *Tate's views* I feel bad for canceling on Nia all week, but I've been stuck in this office all day, I tried calling her but I guess she's sleeping. *25min Later* Nia: TATE!!! Tate: *startles*  what the hell- Nia? Nia: You cancel so you can sleep in your office? Tate: what are you doing here? Nia: *walks towards him and hugs him* Tate: I thought you were sleeping Nia: I went out with the new peoples Tate: I'm sorry about our date Nia: don't worry, I brought you food Tate: really? I'm starving Nia: I figured, you don't get off your butt whenever you sit on this computer. Tate: that smells good *opening the box* that looks good, where'd you get it? Nia: co-workers parents own it. Tate: did you eat? Nia: yeah, I also got some for me so don't worry I won't eat your food...today Tapping her hands on the desk out of boredom, I notice she has the ring on. Tate:*chuckles* Nia: what? Tate: nothing, so how's your work? Nia: right now, I'm cleaning up the last person's mess Tate: it was that bad? Nia: yeah We talk about her work and then I go back to work. She insisted on waiting for me to keep me company, surprisingly, I was expecting her to fall asleep but she's still wide awake. After two hours, I finally finish what I needed to do. Tate: okay let's go We head downstairs, one of the few things I really don't like is Nia's car that she has to drive four hours to come here every day. Tate: go ahead of me and her car won't start. Nia: I think I'm going to need a ride Tate: you think? Nia: you're going to give me one, I'll take a cab Tate:*sigh* let's go We were both too tired to go back to our regular apartment, we went to one of my other places that are close by. Nia: you know what I think? Tate: I'm guessing it doesn't involve you sleeping at the moment? Nia: you should totally rent these houses Tate: what?  why would I wanna do that? Nia: because they're just here collecting dust Tate: I'm leaving them for when I get married Nia: and who said that your future wife is going to like them? Tate: what's there not to like? wouldn't you want to live here? Nia: of course not Tate: why not? Nia: because I don't like it, I want to live somewhere that say, family, not hey I'm having a party. Tate: I see Nia: you can go to sleep I'm going to stay up a little. Tate: okay. *Next day* I got a call from Tara yesterday, she invited me to her kid's birthday. I know this might sound wrong, but I want Nia and Tara to get along, regardless of how things ended, Tara and I were friends. We drive back home, the entire ride I try to find a way to ask her to go with me but I got nothing. Tate: hey you doing anything later? Nia: besides laundry, no, why? Tate: I was going to a kid birthday party Nia: oh no thank you, like you know I'm not a fan of birthdays, and especially kids parties, not a fan have fun by yourself Tate: so that's a no? Nia: I wouldn't go even if I was bored out of my mind Tate: okay. *later at the party* It's not my kind of party, but I guess that's all can be expected from a kids party. Tara: thank for coming Tate: you're welcome Tara: I can't believe she's 14 already Tate: get ready all the boys are going to come after her Tara: please don't remind me, *sigh* so how's life? Tate: life's great, I'm in a really great place in my life right now, My families in good health, personal life is great, business is great. What about you? Tara: *smile* Tate: you talk to your husband? and you never actually told me what happened Tara: you never asked Tate: well I'm asking right now Tara: I'll answer that another time, I want to just enjoy today and not think about that. Tate: okay Tara: you know sometimes I wonder what our kids would look like. they would probably be 10 years old by now. I really don't want to say anything right now. *later that night* Tara: you really shouldn't give teenagers that much money, now I'm not gonna be able to get it from her Tate: Nah, she'll be alright, I should get going now Tara: thanks again for today Tate: you're welcome. *checks his phone* Tara: you know I wouldn't mind you bringing her Tate: I asked her, but she said no Tara: oh Tate: Yeah, I'll take my leave now. I got in the car, call Kia to tell her that she needs to call him, and just talk and talk I must say again as crazy as she is, there is a brain up there. *Nia's views* Today's Saturday the girls and I are going to the mall, get spa day and do some shopping. Abby: please tell me that we'll end the night with some alcohol, I know you don't drink but, that's always a good way to end a Saturday night. Nia: I guess I'll be the designated driver Everything was going according to the plan until we find the witch, shopping with her kids. Tara: Hey guys what a coincidence, Parker? *walking towards them* Abby: you have got to be kidding me as if we don't see her enough in the office Kia: I think we can make a run for it Nia: she already sees us idiots Tara: it's nice to see you again Nia: thanks if she was expecting me to say "me too" she's wrong *awkward silence* Tara:*ahem*  so what are you guys doing here? Well obviously shopping, what else would we be doing at the mall? Nia: just hanging out Tara: you know if you looking for a job, there's still one waiting for you at the office. I know we got off on the wrong foot, but the job still yours if you want it. Nia: no, thank you. I already have a job. Tara: I guess that's the perks of having a boyfriend in high places huh Nia: excuse me? Tara: I mean, you get the new job because of your boyfriend right? you don't have to be embarrassed, Larenz got me the job at  the company really? I thought he said that he didn't help her? soo much for honesty Nia: I got the job with my own skills, not that you would know what that means since you were just given a seat Tara: what is that supposed to mean? Nia: well you don't know the value of the seat you were placed on, that's why I was doing all your work. you don't know how hard you have to work to get on that seat. Tara: *frown* Nia: have a good day ma'am, let's go guys. Abby: so your boyfriend sends his ex to our job uh? Nia: funny he said that he had nothing to do with her working there Kia: I thought you guys have an "always tell the truth policy" Nia: I thought so too. Abby: are you going to confront him? Nia: no Kia: why not? Nia: let's get lunch As annoyed as I was I would not let it ruin my day. *later that night* Abby: I am well relaxed to deal with this witch on Monday Kia: you know you can't dodge his call all day Nia: watch me Kia: Abby say something Abby: I'm with her on this one, he's chanting tell the truth to tell the truth but he's the first one to lie, I'm not saying he's a bad person for lying. he's human that's going to happen. Sunday, I was just not in the mood to talk, Just looking forward to working on Monday. *Monday at work* Walking in my office I'm not really in the best mood, but I will not let it affect my work. Nia: good morning all: morning Jerry: tea? Nia: yes, please *walks to her office* *minutes later* Jerry: long weekend? Nia: *deep exhales* Jerry: I'll take that as a yes. your day might get even worst Nia: why's that? Jerry: Louis's brother Lance is here, I'm sure he's going to find his way in your office. Nia: how unfortunate for him, meeting me at the wrong time. I started doing my work and my phone started ringing, of course, I'm going to ignore it. As always the time flies by as I work. *hours later* Jerry: knock knock Nia: lunchtime? Jerry: Yeah, wanna coming with us Nia: okay I'll be out in a few minutes *in the elevator* Walking out of the elevator these people are speed walking Nia: why are you guys rushing? I think this guy is trying  to get on Deb: we're trying not to let him in Amy: that's Lance Nia: oh the flirt? Jerry: yes *Lance gets in the elevator * Lance: hello ladies *looks at Nia* mhm I don't think we've met, you are? Nia: no we haven't Lance: well I guess I should introduce myself,  I'm Lance Nia: Parker, I started working here last week. Lance: nice to meet you, Parker, I'm gonna guess that my brother hired you? Nia: if you're talking about Mr. Louis, yes Lance: and here I thought he had no taste in women. Which department are you in? Nia: research Lance: aren't you a little too pretty for that department? Nia: I was hired for my skills, not base on how I look, thanks for the compliment though.   Lance: you're welcome, where are you heading? Nia: I'm heading out to lunch Lance: me too, mind if I come along? Nia: maybe another time We continue our way back to lunch. *restaurant* Bran: you know he's going to come after you right? Nia: I'm not interested *ignored her phone* Jerry: you know gonna have to answer that Nia: whenever I don't feel like cursing him out when my mood is calm. Ralph: how long have you been calming your mood? Nia: Saturday Sam: mind if I ask what happened? Nia: I got confronted by his ex on Saturday Ralph: does he have money? Nia: a little, what does that have to do with anything? Bran: that's a motive Jerry: you are so clueless, let her speak Amy: how long have you been together? Nia: a month Deb: you know you should get used to that. It's a new relationship Nia: it's not the confrontation that bothers me, it's the lying part. He said he had nothing to do with finding her a job Jerry: helping her find a job is a good thing...right? Nia: it's not just a job, I've worked my way from scratch to get to where I was, I love the company. It's kinda like how you guys are, you do all the work, and someone just sits in that office doing nothing, except my life was even more miserable, she knew me and I didn't know who she was. She suspended me for a week, and I never went back. He lied to me. Jerry: well you can't be angry forever, the sooner you fix this the better it will be. I finish the rest of my daily work and then head home. Getting there, the TV is on, Kia and Abby let themselves in. Nia: you guys look comfortable Kia: you're out of fruits Nia: go get some Kia: can I borrow your car? Nia: *tosses the keys at her* Abby: and your card? Nia: you know where it is. Abby: you look awful, you okay? Nia: yeah, I just hate Mondays Kia: have you talked to Tate? Nia: I haven't felt like it Abby: well I think the witch thought about what you said over the weekend, best Monday we've had in weeks. That's good to know. *an hour later* Nia: Let's just watch TV all night Kia: fine by me.

Nia and Tate part 4
*Tate's views* I haven't been able to focus on anything for the past few days, I can't even focus on doing my work. I drive off to my parents' house just to take a break.   Mom: you've been in your thoughts for two hours now, what's going on? Tate: mom I feel hopeless and useless. I've been trying to work for the past couple of days and I haven't been able to.
Mom: what's the problem? problem with Nia? Tate: Nia... Mom: what about Nia? Tate: I feel so awful for not being able to help her Mom: what happened? Tate: mom, just this month, her parents lost their house in a fire, long-lost brother shows up with a pregnant wife, trouble at work, and she lost her grandma. the worst part is that she had a stroke and her parents didn't tell her. Mom: poor girl, how is she taking it? Tate: facing all these problems head-on. I talked to her friend, she barely said any word or eat anything, I really don't know how to help her. she doesn't take money or anything from anyone. Mom: staying here is not going to help her in any way, just stay by her side
even if she's not talking.
*Funeral* The funeral was delayed a week for other families to come. I walked in the church with Kia and sit in the back since we were a little late. Everyone say what they have to say, well except Nia. After the church, we went to the next place to lay her to rest. Tate:* stands next to her and hold her hand* Kia:*stands on the other sides and take the other hand* We stayed like that the rest of the time, after that we went back to her place for a small refreshment. Nia disappears, it's pretty cold at this time of the month, I hope she's somewhere warm. Kia and I stay and help out to do whatever else they needed help with. Mom: it's getting dark where is Nia? Kia: I'm not sure If anyone would know about Nia's whereabouts, it is Kia, but she knows her friend an probably think that she needs the alone time. *an hour later* She walks in, weird enough I have not seen her cry once today. Mom: Hey where did you go? I made you something to eat Nia: I'm not hungry *walks to her room* Kia: I'll go talk to her *follows her to he room* Now I'm just here with her family, and come to think of it we haven't officially met or introduced to each other. I guess she read mind cause I was begging for them to come out. Nia: you should probably head out now, it's getting colder Tate: I'll be alright Nia: It's two hours drive Tate: I'm aware To be honest, all I want is to take her with me, but with her parents right here. Nia, Kia and I went to her bedroom we talk and watch a movie until she fell asleep. Driving Kia back, we started talking and I realize how much she actually cares about her friend, and maybe not as crazy as she seems. Kia: I know Nia's going to have the worst birthday ever Tate: did she tell you what she's going to do about the living situation? Kia: Nia loves her personal space, she was actually saving money to get a place for her parents and brother, but then the fire happened, and now funeral. This is the time where we could use a raise. Tate: she's not going to ask for help is she? Kia: nope Tate:*sigh* Kia: Look I'm not going to say anything about you guy's relationships. I've been rooting for you guys from the not start, but you can see how much she's going through, and it's not easy at work either, I'm not going to say that I would do anything if you hurt her. Tate: I know Kia: well thank you for the ride Tate: you're welcome, oh Kia Nick said he'll be in town for Christmas Kia: that's good for him Tate: should I ask? Kia: there's nothing to ask Tate: okay, just relaying the message Kia: I'll see you later. I drive myself back home, I barely got any sleep that night. I spend the rest of the weekend at home actually, we talk on the phone, and then the work week starts. Tara called me all week asking if I wanted to have lunch or dinner with her, but I refuse all of them because I don't want her to think that all these calls and whatever she is saying are okay.  whenever we talk on the phone she always brings up the past, like I moved on, it sucks how things turned out for her, but I'm finally trying to figure myself out, not gonna let her ruin it. *Monday* *Nia's Views* Getting to work on Monday, well let's just say that I don't want to be there. This witch has soo much for me to do yet she's calling me every five-minute cause she has no clue what she's doing. Thankfully the day's going by faster than usual. *lunch break* Abby: what exactly are they paying this witch for? Lewis: Nia how you feeling? Nia: honestly I'm this close to quitting. Rob: I wouldn't blame you if it was me- Abby: you wouldn't do anything Kia: what about that other offer? Nia: what about it? Kia: why don't you check it out Nia:*sigh* Lewis: what offer? Nia: I got an offer to be a head researcher for one of the big companies that were at the thing. Abby: why are you still here? Nia: I actually forgot about it with everything I have going on Kia: I mean we are going to miss you but, you have bills and things to take care of Rob: and you're not getting paid enough to do two people's job. I say go for it. Abby: wait, are you seriously dating this guy? Nia: yes, why? Abby: why are you having money problems? Nia: because taking care of my family is my responsibility, not his. Lewis: ask him to buy you this company, and then you can boss the witch around Abby: and give us a raise, just us on this table Nia: no shame. I spend the next two days thinking about the job offer and decided to give the guy a call, and he said if I can to go over. I call off work today just so I can go see what the job is all about. *hours later* I got there, the office building is two times bigger than where I'm working. I get a private tour with the CEO. The job is pretty much the same as what I'm doing right now, except I will have people under me and not the other way around if I do research for anything I have to present it myself not handing it over to someone else to do. I'd have a bigger office, and most definitely better pay, and I can use the money at the moment. Louis: so what do you think? Nia: well if you were trying to persuade me to work here, congratulations. Louis: is that a yes? Nia: maybe Louis: so you can start Monday? your assistant will show you the rope around here until you can handle it on your own. Nia: wait wait wait, assistant? Louis: well yes, you're going to have a lot to do, so you'll need an assistant. Nia: okay, well see you in two weeks? Louis: two weeks? Nia: I have to give them the two weeks notice. Louis: Well, in that case, do you have your social security card and license with you? Nia: yes. We went and get some paperwork done, for the background check and all these things. As I was leaving he handed me an envelope, we shake hands and made my way back to my car. I check my phone and get like 4 missed calls from Tate. Nia:*calls him back* Tate: hey Nia: sorry I was in a meeting Tate: that's okay, I was just checking on you Nia: I'm okay Tate: how's work? still not getting along with your boss? Nia: I can't get along with her because she makes me do all her work, and she picks on me more than anyone as if I did something to her. I don't even know the woman. Tate:*laughs* Nia: that's not funny, I have too much going on I can't handle any more stress. Tate: It'll get better Nia: I know it will cause I'm quitting... Tate: have you had lunch? Nia: no, you? Tate: yeah, I just got back from lunch meeting Nia: I need a vacation Tate: let's go Nia: easy for you to say, I have responsibilities Tate: you need a break honestly Nia: don't remind me, oh my parents say thank you for helping out last week Tate: I didn't even do anything Nia: you did, and they all say thank you. *later that day at home* Things still somewhat awkward, I stay in my room the majority of the time. The person I feel sorry for is that woman who's pregnant and have nothing for her baby. They're not welcome at my house, but if I had the money I would help her out. The baby is still my niece anyway. I'm sitting here and something tells me to go check the papers I go from Louis's office, inside I find an envelope that says "Welcome to the company, with a $250,000 check" Nia: what the hell? Dad: ahem Nia: sorry *picks up her phone and calls him* Louis: Hello, I was expecting you call a lot earlier Nia: you were? Louis: yes Nia: oh well I find- Louis: I know the reason why you call and yes it's real, I signed it myself it wasn't a mistake. Nia: but why? Louis: I don't know, but on the plus side I know with your skills and talent working with us, our company's going to make plenty more than that. We talk and talk, but the entire time I'm just sitting here thinking about telling these people to leave my house. After that I called Kia of course, now I'm really going to quit this job. Normally I would argue and tell him I can't take the money, but uuhhh too much bills to pay off. * later that night" Mom: can I come in? Nia: yeah Mom: are you working? Nia: no, I'm just packing a few things to bring to work. Mom: how are you feeling? Nia: sad that I have to go to work tomorrow Mom: I'm sorry Nia: I'm sorry for me too, I have to do double the work Mom: it's all our faults Nia: what? no, my boss is just lazy and I have to do her work and my work. Mom: It's sad that I can't do anything for you for your 30th birthday Nia: mom, all I want you guys to do is to stop feeling sorry or blame yourselves for everything that happened. no way anyone could've prevented them. Mom: Nia I'm your mother even if we don't talk a lot I know my own daughter. You've been living on your own for nine years, to have five people come to your house out of the blue like that is a bit inconvenient. Nia: well maybe just a little, but to tell you the truth my house was a bit too quiet. *sigh* don't worry mom, things are going to get better. Mom: you think so? Nia: I know so Mom: your dad went to go look for a job today Nia: dad doesn't have to do that, I can take care of everyone. Mom: how are you going to do that? I'm pretty sure your savings are all dried out. Nia: Have faith mom *phone rings* hello Tate: hey what you up to? Nia: nothing, just talking to my mom Tate: oh call me when you finish, and tell her I say hello Nia: ok *hangs up*  Tate say hi Mom: about this guy Nia: what about him? Mom: nothing, you should invite him over for Christmas Nia: I'm sure he's working but I'll tell him. Mom: ok good. have you talk to your brother Nia: am I suppose to? Mom: how come you and your father give me the same response? Nia: because he and I are alike and Kevin's just like you? Mom: even if you don't talk to him, at least try to be nice to his girlfriend Nia: I am nice to her, I let her eat my ice cream and did not make a scene when she ate the whole thing and not save me any Mom: Kimberly Nia: okay... mom? Mom: yeah Nia: you wanna go somewhere with me tomorrow? Mom: aren't you working? Nia: when I come back Mom: sure *next day at work* Today I'm walking on sunshine, I refuse to let the witch ruin my day, mainly because I'm quitting and she's gonna have to all of this work by herself. She is furious because I'm smiling and not letting her ruin my day. Finally the end of my working hours. Kia: oh finally I feel like today was longer than any other day Nia: I cannot wait for tomorrow Abby: we should go out, Nia I know you have a lot going on but you need some fun in your life, and drink a little. Nia: you know I don't drink. Lewis: incoming Tara: Parker I need your help Nia: with? Tara: I have some papers I need you to look at for me. Nia: I can't I'm clocking out in like a minute Tara: but I need help with the papers Nia: well they're gonna have to wait till tomorrow. Tara: I just need you for an hour Nia: I can't I have plans, I have to leave Tara: isn't that part of your job to work when I ask you? Abby: *mumbles* oh she tries you. Nia: doing your work isn't part of my job, I've been doing your work ever since you got here, that's not part of my job. *walks over to the computer to clock out* Tara: If you clock out right now, you can take the next week off Nia: what? Tara: you heard me, you clock out right now I'm going to suspend you. Nia: *proceed to clock out* Tara: don't bother come tomorrow. Nia: that's alright with me, what do you have against me anyway? you've been on my case since you got here, do I know you? did I do something to you?  you know what none of that matters, you want to suspend me for a week that's fine; just letting you know no one's here going to help you out with anything. anyway, thank you for my week vacation. *smile** walks out* When I get home I take both my mom and I guess sister in law out for some fresh air. I feel bad for her she keeps on looking at other women like she envy them, which I don't blame her. I have Kia looking into some stuff for me I hope she comes through. Christmas is just days away I must say that  I'm  excited, because I feel more at peace, and yes because of the money. being the only person working, my brain was going haywire, about the hospital bills, everything for the funeral that I paid with my credit card, rent, utilities, car and health insurance, food, gas there is no way I would survive on that one paycheck. I spend the next day buying Christmas presents and also pay things off and keep them in my car. No one knows about the money except Kia and me. I have not seen Tate since the Funeral, speaking of I don't even know what to get him for Christmas, what do you give someone who already has everything? *Tate's views* Nia's mom invited me to dinner for Christmas, that's in two days, I'm some way I'm going to admit that I'm scared for many reasons, but mainly the fact that I'm older than her brother, I'm not really sure how they're going to take it. I hope they're as open-minded as she is, I'm really into this girl, the last thing I want is the age difference to get in the way. I let my assistant buy all of the presents except Nia's. It's been a while since I had a girl, I look up the internet and find soo many ideas until I settle for a few. My parents also got Nia presents, so I had to go to their house drop off their presents and pick up hers. Dad: are you nervous? Tate: dad I'm older than her brother Dad: well I see why there might be some problem, but she like you, her parents should cut her some slack especially with everything she went through. Tate: I hope so Dad: Tara came by the other day Tate: why? Dad: she said that you're avoiding her. Tate: Dad there is no way I had the time of the day to entertain Tara, I was with the person who actually needed me and that was Nia. Whenever I try to have any kind of conversations with Tara, she brings up the past. I'm moving on the same way she did, I'm not going to entertain her whenever she's bored, besides I have no intentions or plans to lie to Nia about anything, I doubt she'll be okay with me spending that much time with an ex-girlfriend. Dad: I see. Well, you have money her parents won't think your age matter. Tate: if they're anything like her, money's not going to help. I'm a grown ass man, why am I freaking out over this? *Dec 25th* *Nia's view's* Kia's parents had to work so she stayed over for Christmas. I love this girl, but I always regret it whenever she stays over for just a simple reason. I'm not a morning person, a well she is all day type of person. She spent most of the morning making noise with the rest of the nuts in this house. On the plus side, my dad isn't into all these things either. The rest of the day was loud, I'm so annoyed and beyond ready for everyone to leave. *dinner* Kia: you okay? you look nervous Nia: I'm fine Kia: you don't seem like it Nia: I'm just worried Kia: about what? Nia: this dinner with Tate, I don't know how things will go. Kia: it'll be fine, I'll vouch for you. Nia: thanks *an hour later* *knocks* Kia: you gonna get that? Nia: why?  oh right open the door he's standing there with two full bags next to him. Nia: hey Tate: you look lovely Nia: thanks, you don't look too bad yourself, I'm glad you're not wearing. are these for me? Tate: unfortunately nothing in these bags are for you Nia: that's cold Tate: *smile* Nia: come in *deep breath* Everyone's just sitting down talking and it's time to make an official introduction. Nia: everyone, I'm sure you guys have seen him and talk to him before, I guess I'll do a proper introduction now. this is Tate, Larenz Tate Kia: Tate's not your first name? Tate: no Kia: why do you call him by his last name? Tate: because when we first met I introduced myself as Tate, I guess it's stuck. Kev: are you guys together or just interested? Tate: well we- Nia: We are together, he asked me out 20 days ago Kia: you never told me that part, where did you ask her out? Nia: under a red light Kia: how romantic.. Nia: yeah he would not move until I gave him an answer, and caused a very nice traffic line. Kia: romantic. Nia: you and I have a different definition of romantic. Mom: dinner's ready, you guys can continue the question while we're eating. *moments later* Dad: so what do you do for a living? Tate: I'm into Business Nia:*whispers to Tate* remember when I asked you and you just said business and I let it go, you're gonna have to be a bit more specific to him. Tate: well I own a few businesses Dad: what kind of business? Tate:*explains his business to him* Mom: wow Dad: that's kind of a lot for someone your age, how old are you? That's the question I was trying to avoid Tate: I'm 42 years old Kev: you're older than me? by 5 years? Tate: I guess I you're 37 Dad: how do you feel about this? Nia: about what? Mom: the age difference Nia: I don't have a problem with it, age is just a number. I've been through too much to be dealing with anyone my age... again Dad: are you happy with him? Nia: well we're only just started dating, I don't really know which part of him that's going to drive me crazy the most, the fact that he's always working or the fact he always tells the truth. Tate: you want me to lie Nia: no, If I ask you who you're having dinner with don't just say yes I'm having dinner with a woman Tate: what was I suppose to say? wait till you ask if it's a woman? Nia: yes? Tate: but that will save us a lot of talking Mom: well one thing we can count on is you making her talk Dad: well if you're happy, that's what matters to me. Nia: so we get you guy's okay? dad: yes. Kia: you have mine too Nia: he had yours the same day he gave you his card to spend on whatever you wanted for a day. Kev: really, how much did you spend? Kia: not enough. Nia: you guys kidding right? We had dinner and thankfully everyone just gets along, now time for presents. He gives everyone something. Tate:*hands Kevin a business card* Kev: your card? Tate: yeah, if you need help finding a job, you can just come to my office Kev: are you serious? Tate: yeah, I see you have a kid on the way Kev: yeah a girl Tate: I hear girls are pretty expensive Kev: thanks a lot man Tate: no problem. oh, Jessy? Jess: yeah Tate: here this is for you and the baby That's very kind of him, but I watched everyone get something except for me. Tate: well that's all Kia: what about Nia? Tate: My mom sent her some stuff but they're at my place Nia: What they wouldn't fit in those bags? Tate: more like they wouldn't fit Nia: well at least she remembered me. Kev: if you're going to cry about it just go to his house and get it Nia: he lives two hours away. Kia: what about you, where are our presents? Nia: what makes you think I bought presents Kia: I know you better than anyone in this room. I know when you're lying, stress, nervous, you can't lie to me. Nia: that's creepy, but yeah I did buy you guys presents. where do I start? *sigh* we can all agree that this past few weeks or month has been nothing but many unfortunate events. What I'm trying to say is, I've been living on my own for 9 years now, and I'm used to having my personal space and walk in any indecent  manner that I want Tate: mhm Kia:*elbows him* Tate: sorry Nia:*smile*  anyway, I'm trying to say living with you guys isn't that bad, but I'm afraid your welcome has officially worn out Mom: what? Kev: look, Nia, I know we are in your personal space but- Nia: But being the mature responsible person that I am- Kev: you call kicking us out you being responsible? Nia: can I please finish what I'm trying to say? being the mature responsible person that I am, I find you guys a small house for the time being Mom: where- Nia: let me finish. I get you guys the house. I figured it wouldn't be good to bring a baby into this tiny apartment, and also Jessy we don't know each other, but I'm sure you want some personal space and do the whole decorating baby room thing, after all, it's your first baby. I get you guys a 3 bedroom house for now. One room for my parents, one for the baby, and you two. Now the house is under my parent's name, so whenever you guys get back on your feet you guys can have your own place. Right now Kev you are your parents' responsibility, whatever it is you guys can figure it out on your own. Jess:*tearing up* Nia: I also work at home, so a crying baby will be a bit inconvenient for me. Mom:*hugs her in tears* but how did you? Nia: don't worry about it mom, I know you guys are uncomfortable in this little cramp space, I also want my peace and quiet house back. Since I'm suspended from work I will help you guys pack Mom: you what? what happened? Nia: well I had a little misunderstanding with someone at work and it didn't end well Mom: Nia you- Nia: Mom like I said before, don't worry. well everyone takes it rather well. All I want is to spend my birthday in this house by myself. They spend the rest of the night talking since it's getting late, Tate has to make his way out. Tate: it was nice seeing you guys, but I have to take my leave now. Mom: thank you again. Tate: you're welcome Kev: see you on Monday? Nia: try Tuesday, he has plans Tate: I don't have plans on Monday, besides a couple of meetings. Nia: *glares at him* Tate: okay you can come to the office and my assistant will talk to you when you go over ask for Jenny. I will talk to her tomorrow and she'll be expecting you Kev: okay Tate: Nia do you want to go somewhere with me? Nia: no Tate: no? Nia: no, you didn't get me anything for Christmas Tate: I'm sorry, and you didn't get me anything either Nia: actually I did Tate: really? Nia: yeah, and now you will never get it since you didn't get me anything, well I'll just keep yours. Tate: okay *turns to her parents* permission to take Nia out? Dad: permission granted Tate: thank you Nia: I think you need my approval Kia: I'll get her purse *in the car* Tate: you're not going to talk to me Nia: where are we going? Tate: you'll see He drives for about 20 and stops at an apartment complex. Nia: why are you parking? Tate: I live here Nia: no, you live 2 hours from here Tate: yes, and I also live here. I figured it be better to get a place here rather than the 2hours drive whenever I want to see you Nia: Mhmm Tate: are you mad at me? Nia: no, why? Tate: Oh, just checking * inside apartment* Nia: you sure this is your place? Tate: yes, why? Nia: it looks a bit colorful Tate: you don't like it? Nia: It's fine, I just didn't you'd be into the whole colorful house thing Tate: it was not decorating according to my taste Nia: oh Tate: you're not going to ask? Nia: no Tate: no? Nia: no Tate: do you want something to drink? Nia: no. we're you expecting anyone? *looks at all the things under his tree* Tate: no, why? Nia: these boxes under your tree are- Tate: yours Nia: huh? Tate: what?  told you they wouldn't fit in the bag. Nia: oh, you were serious? Tate: I told you I would never lie to you *hand her a chocolate milk* Nia: My favorite thank you, mind if I look around? Tate: help yourself The more I look around at the place, the more it look's like my place. I check the fridge and it looks too similar to mine, well before I had guests. Nia: why is this whole apartment feels like mine? everything from the things you have in your fridge, the colorful pillows. who else lives here? Tate: there are only two people who know about this place, well three now. It looks similar to yours because I find your apartment very comfortable, and I want you to be just as comfortable whenever you come to visit. Nia: who else knows about this place? Tate: Jenny, she's the one I got to look into finding it Nia: I see Tate: Don't say that I see whenever I hear you say that it feels like there's something more Nia: well I'm not a really big fan of the whole female assistant or secretary thing. *walks over to the counter* Tate: Nia Jenny and I have been working together for years now, and besides she has a fiance Nia: Luke's assistant was married Tate: I'm not Luke, I'm Larenz. I'm a grown ass man, not a kid. I know how to keep a certain thing in my pants, even if it gets harder the more I see you in a dress, *hold her close* and I mean hard in a literal way Nia: *touches his forehead* Tate: so are we going to talk about why you're suspended? or where you got the money for the lavishes Christmas presents? Nia: Should I start open presents? Tate: you know I'm hoping we're both can be on the same page about telling each the truth about everything. so tell me where did you get the money? and does it have anything to do with you getting suspended? Nia: okay, I got an offer for a head research for a company, better pay. I had so much going on, with everything my family's going through I needed the extra money so I took the job. The money I used for the apartment, is a check I found in one of the envelopes from when I went to visit the company. I called him to make sure that it wasn't a mistake, but he said that it wasn't saying with my skills I will make the company more money. Tate: how much money was it? Nia: 250 Tate: $250,000? why would he give you that much money? Nia: I don't know, I was not really in the place to question it. Tate:*deep sigh*  Nia you can't take that much money from anyone and not try to question it. What about the suspension? Nia: I had enough with the witch Tate: witch? Nia: yes, that woman who made me do all her works, picks on me like I did something to her. Tate: do you know her? Nia: no, it's like I did something to her in the past life and she comes back to hunt me. Tate: so where do you stand? Nia: well first I want to use the two weeks off to enjoy myself, not sure that will be possible since I don't have much luck on the whole good life part, I'm sure something bad will happen. Tate: okay, let's leave this alone, for now, you're free to open your presents *Tate's views* I'm sitting here watching her opening stuff, this is the happiest I've seen Nia In a while. I would pay anything to see that look on her face. What did I get her?Well, she got a lot of things, clothes, shoes, bags, just a lot of things she deserves *20minutes later* Nia: should I ask how much? Tate: it'd be better if you didn't Nia: okay Tate: so what did I get? after you come empty handed I'm going to guess nothing. Nia: you know how hard it was to get you anything? what do I give a guy who has everything? *take an envelope from her bag and hand it to him* Tate: What's this? *opens it, two plane tickets* what's this for? Nia:*moves closer to him* well you always said that you wanted a vacation, so I got us two plane tickets, for a week vacation. Tate:*smirk* well- Nia: you can't say no, I'm starting a new job in two weeks Tate: so I don't have a choice? Nia: you're going to disappoint me on Christmas? Tate: I would never, but you're birthday's in like a week you want to spend your 30th birthday away? Nia: not like I'll do doing anything anyway. Tate: Nia, I think this is the best Christmas present Nia: but Tate: It's going to be a new year, and I have a lot of things to do Nia: that was disappointing. Tate: I'm sorry Nia: I guess it's fine, I get it you're a busy Tate: so you're not mad? Nia: well I'm not happy, but I knew from the start how your working schedule is, and even if I did get mad, with all these presents, I wouldn't be able to stay mad for long. *Nia's Views* Today is just one lazy day, my parents and the other two are out to look at the apartment, I'm just enjoying my day of not working and staying at home. *door open* Kia: This woman is making my life miserable, I'm gonna look for another job. Nia: remind me to change the lock, once they leave the house. Kia: she's killing me Nia: you don't have to tell me, I know how it feels. Kia: does she know that you're quitting? Nia: no Kia: are you going to tell her? Nia: yes Kia: so you still haven't told me what you got for Christmas. Nia: nothing, much just a few things Kia: Mhmm you should be lucky I'm tired Nia: why are you here so early anyway? it's lunchtime Kia: I walked out Nia: you can't just do that. Kia: already did, I'm going to look for another job. Nia: *sigh* Kia: but since I'm here, you wanna go out? Nia: no, I wanna stay home. Kia: I need to go get a retouch, my hair's a mess Nia: what does that have to do with me? Kia: come with me. You're about to start a new job, and finally an adult Nia: I've been an adult since I was 16 Kia: and you've also had the same hair color since you were born, don't you think you need a new haircut or color? It's going to be a new year, you have a new man, just have a new start. All these things you've been through just start over. Nia:*sigh* okay, you convince me I'll go change Kia: I need a pair of jeans Nia: you know where they are *in the room* Kia: okay, where'd you get all of this? Nia: my presents Kia: I thought you said you only got a few things? Nia: yeah, okay maybe it's a lot of things Kia: a lot of expensive things, do you know how much this purse cost? Nia: by the look on your face I'm going to guess a lot, and no you cannot have any one of them. Kia and I head out, we spent the day just having fun shopping. We got a mani and pedi, and I also change my hair color. I'm upset because of how long it took. *next day* Today is the day I give them my two weeks notice. I'm going to enjoy seeing the look on her face. Unlike any other days, I'd just put on some mascara and lipgloss, but I think I should switch up a bit. I got some makeup yesterday time to put them to some good use. *in office* Lewis *whistles* suspension looks good on you Abby: I love this new look, you upgraded for your man? Nia: no, I upgrade for Kia, she wouldn't shut up Lewis: so this has nothing to do with your man? Nia: you all know I wouldn't change myself for anyone Abby: except Kia, if you think about it Kia's mouth will make any good person commit a crime. Nia: where's Robby? Lewis: He and Kia are being tortured by the witch Abby: you come to get your job back? Nia: no, I came to give my notice Abby: you're quitting? Nia: yup Lewis: you're smart, I'll take it you have a plan B Nia: yes, I took the offer. Lewis: oh drink is definitely on you later Nia: just let me know the time Abby: oh we're driving by the bar near your house after work Nia: I'll be waiting. Lewis okay, go make her cry. I walk in the office as always not doing anything with Kia and Rob doing her work. Tara: it's nice of you to show up, but you're still suspended. if you come to apologize, I'll accept it, but you still have to wait till next week. Nia: I'm not here to apologize, I'm here to give you my two weeks notice, well in your case one week. Tara: you're going quitting? Nia: No, I quit the day I walked out of the office. Tara: why? Nia: I don't owe you that much information. *puts the letter on her desk, walks out in the office and then comes back* you know if you weren't such a b*tch maybe the people would actually like you here, aren't you a bit miserable being in a building that everyone hates you? Tara: no one hates me Nia: really? because I've seen multiple people filling job applications. I have no intentions to waste any more time talking to you, but why do you hate me? I have no idea who you are, and I know I asked you that already, but why? Tara: you stole something from me Nia: excuse me? I don't even know you Tara: you don't know huh? I guess you'll find out soon. what the hell is she talking about? it doesn't matter because I won't be here. *later that night* Rob: I hope you bring money because I'm also eating Nia: help yourself Abby: your birthday is two days away, doing anything? Nia: yes, I'm staying home to watch movies and eat Rob: with your family? Nia: no, why? Rob: you all live together Nia: no, they should be done moving out. Lewis: finally some alone time with your man Nia: Tate has too many houses if I want to have alone time *phone vibrates* speaking of which, hello Tate: hey, how are you? Nia: I'm good, you? Tate: I'm good, I'm about to pick up a friend who's having a bad day for a drink. you wanna come with? Nia: I'm actually out doing the same thing with a couple of friends Tate: that's cool, we should meet up it's about time I meet some of your friends. Nia: okay, we're at the same bar I took you to Tate: okay, I'll see you in a bit Abby: he's coming? Nia: yeah, he said that he's bringing a friend Abby: *puts her ponytail down* Nia: why? are you trying to not look desperate? Rob: not working out Kia:*walk in upset* Rob: witch finally let you out? Kia: you need to go get your job back, this woman is killing me. Lewis:*pours her a drink* Kia: thank you, no food? *45 minutes later* Tate: hey, sorry I take so long Nia: It's okay, where's your friend? Tate: bathroom, oh here she comes.*walking towards them* Kia:*whispers*  the witch? Abby: *mumbles* how disappointing? Nia: That's your friend? *sounding upset* Kia: Nia before you go off- Rob: remember some of us are still going to work tomorrow and next week. Nia: *sits down* Tate: you guys this is my friend Tara, Tara this is my girlfrien- Tara: what are you guys doing here? Tate: you know each other? that's nice, I'm glad it won't be awkward. All:*quiet* So much for not wanting things to be awkward. *Tate's views* I'm not really sure what's going on, but I'm feeling a little bit of tension on this table. Rob: uh- you guys been friends for a while? Tate: Yeah we went to high school together. Abby: oh Tara: we dated Abby: ooooh *leans over to Kia and whisper* that's why she hates Nia. Lewis: it's nice that you guys stay in touch for that long, even after the breakup. Rob: why did you guys break up? Tate: she left me *chuckles* Lewis: ouch, sorry man Tate: it's cool. I mean it stung a little, but we moved passed it. Kia: really? Tate: yeah, she's married with three kids, and I have Nia, I'm very satisfied with how my life is right now. as awkward as it is, everyone's trying to make small talks, but Nia's not even paying attention to anything that's going on besides the big frown on her forehead glaring at me. Tara: It's getting late, I should get going Tate: I'll take you home, Nia can I see outside for a second *outside* Tate: you have not said one word inside, are you okay? Nia: why wouldn't I be? Tate: *sigh* Nia, I had a very long day can we please- Nia: can we please what? and you had such a long day yet you made time to have a drink with your ex-girlfriend? and you picked her up? what her brand new car has a problem? oh yeah, I now I see why she hate me. Tate: Woah Woah what? Nia: *walks back inside* Tate: Kimberly Nia: don't call me that   Kia: you guys okay? Nia: I'm gonna call it a day Kia: are you okay? Nia: yeah, I just want to go home Abby: Nia, you said we would have a good time, I don't know what kind of problem you have going on, it's not going to ruin our night. Nia stayed, and I went off to drive off Tara. *in the car* Tate: well that got awkward real quick. Tara: I know right, where are you going after that? Tate: I'm going back to talk to Nia Tara: why? Tate: what do you mean why? I need to clear out whatever misunderstanding that was. Tara: mhm I see After dropping off Tara, I went back down to the bar, but they had already left. I call Nia, it went to voicemail. I can't go to her place at this time of the night because I know her family still lives there. *next day* After calling for half of the day, she finally answers. Tate: are you okay? I've been calling you all day. Nia: I am Tate: I'm getting off of work soon, do you want to go out later? Nia: I don't feel like getting dressed to go anywhere. Tate: okay, then stay however you are we'll go to my place. *hangs up* All I want is to clear up whatever misunderstanding before it gets worst. *2hours later* *in the car* Tate: how was your day? Nia: it was fine Tate: did anything? Nia: besides being lazy all day nothing Tate: I called you like 20 times Nia: I didn't feel like talking Tate: to me, or Nia:... Tate:  look I'm sorry about last night, I really didn't know that it was going to end that. If being with Tara makes you uncomfortable I'm sorry, but there is nothing going on between Tara and me. When we broke up, she moved away with her husband. She moved back here because they're going through a divorce, and I thought I should be there for her that's all. Nia: because you're the only friend she has? Tate: no, but- Nia: Did you help her the job? Tate: no, why? Nia: no reason We got to the apartment, I went to the room to take a shower. When I got out she is on the bed watching TV. Tate: that feels much better, what do you want to eat? Nia: Idk, you? Tate: whatever you're having Nia: order Chinese Tate: okay We got our food, watch a movie and she falls asleep. Nia's birthday is the day after tomorrow, I really don't know what to get her. I pretty much fall asleep after her. *next morning* waking up, I check the time it's already 11 AM, and she's not on the bed. walk out she's in the kitchen making breakfast wearing the shirt I went to work with. Tate: Good morning Nia: morning Tate: that looks good Nia: thank you, you know you're late for work right? Tate: I guess I'm staying home with you Nia: what makes you think I don't have plans for today? Tate: do you? Nia: I'm going to the mall with Kiara Tate: can I come? Nia: why? Tate: I want to spend time with you Nia:*stands in front of him* Tate: *pulls her closer and put his head on her* Nia:*touches his head* did you dyed our hair? Tate: no, why? Nia: how come you don't have any gray hair? Tate: I don't know, you want me to have some? *phone rings*  ignore it Nia: it's your friend Tate: I told you to ignore it Nia:*walks back to the room* Tate:*follows her* now what? Nia: now, I'm going to take a shower Tate: can- Nia: alone We both showered I get dress and off to her place to get her dress. *in apartment* Tate: parents out? Nia: yeah Tate: cool Nia: I'm going to change Not going to miss this *follows her to the room* Nia has a great body, I'm sitting here watching her get dress thinking about all the wrong things. Nia:*wearing a plaid shirt, white jeans * you ready? Tate: yeah Nia: okay, let's go. Tate: you're driving? Nia: no, Kia is. okay I don't trust Nia's driving and she is more normal than Kia *45minutes later* Just as I was thinking, she's a maniac. Tate: are you sure you got your license the right way? Kia: what did I scare you? Tate: I don't have kids yet, I'm driving back Kia: well start working on it, have you guys ever had sex? Nia: what does that have to do with you being a horrible driver? *gets out of the car* Kia: well what are you waiting for? Tate: what do you mean? Kia: you know what I'm talking about, I know your type. I know how hard it is for you. Tate: you know that how? Kia: I told you, I know your type. Nia hasn't been with a guy in that way for a year. Tate: you're telling me this because? Kia: she said that you rejected her Christmas present Tate: I did not reject it. I had a lot of work I had to finish because I can't just get up and leave for a week, I have responsibilities. Kia: did you tell her that? Tate: I didn't give her that much explanations Kia: Look, Nia's a special case, she doesn't talk, it takes her a while to open up to anyone. Just be a little patient, she's a good girl, a little weird but she has a good head on her shoulder. Nia: you guys coming or not? Kia: In a sec, oh, by the way, your ex, keep her away from Nia what is that supposed to mean? We walk around holding hands, I know it might be nothing, but I love little moments like this. I love Nia's natural and all comfortable self, but I often wonder what she would look like in certain things. Tate:*looking at the window of a lingerie shop* Nia: want me to buy ou something in there? Tate: *chuckles* Hey, is that offer is valid for that week vacation? I know I- Nia: yes *hugs him* when are we leaving? Tate: well tomorrow is your birthday, we can leave after you spend time with your family and friends, then we can head out. Nia: where are we going?  Tate: it's a surprise Nia: what should I pack for? Tate: snow Nia: huh? but I hate being cold Tate: sweetheart I'm sure the hotel will be warm Nia: but I want to go in the pool Tate: I'll make sure the room has one, any other requests? Nia: well I want a nice view Tate: *smile* is that all? Nia: no cell phones, no computer. Tate: yes boss, so let's go get you some winter stuff We shop around for winter stuff, and then went out to dinner. *dinner* Tate: Nick said that you're ignoring him, you don't answer his phone calls Kia: why should I? Tate: I don't know, I don't know what you guys had going on. Nia: did you guys had something going on? Kia: we slept together back at the hotel Nia: what? why? Kia: what do you mean? we were both in the mood, and I told him no strings attached Nia: it's been three months Kia: I have that effect on people Nia: Kiara Tate: He's really not a bad guy you know. Kia: look I'm not interested in being with a rich business snob, who travels all the time, only think about his work, no offense Tate Tate: somehow I feel very offended Nia: you don't want him or- Tate: or what? Nia: look let's just drop it Kia: here I got you something *hands her a book* Nia: *opens it and shocks* Tate: what is it? Nia: nothing you need to see after that Kia dropped us off, and we both went home to pack. *Nia's views* Mom: you  didn't come home last night Nia: no, I went to Tate's yesterday, and stayed over. I came here earlier but no one was here. Dad: your birthday's tomorrow, anything you wanna do? Nia: I have plans Mom: you do? Nia: yea, I'm going out of away with Tate tomorrow night Mom: where are you guys going? Nia: he said that it's a surprise as soon as it hits 12 AM the text messages started coming in. I think I pack more than I should've but I'm just excited. *next morning* I spent the whole night thinking about today, that I barely get any sleep. I showered, had breakfast with my family. I also said goodnight since I'll be out all night till my vacation. I had brunch with Kia because she wanted me to get ready at her house. Tate made dinner reservations, so we're gonna head over for dinner and then our flight. *later that night* Kia: you look like a million bucks Nia: thanks to you Kia: you're finally a woman *hugs her* Happy birthday Kimmie. We drive off to some fancy hotel restaurant, two people escorted us to a private area, when I get in I see my brother and my parents, Tate looking a handsome as ever. as much as I want to hug everyone I gotta go hug my big head first. Nia:*walks towards him* Tate: you look beautiful Nia: Thank you, you look quite handsome yourself Tate: *smile* I- Abby: Ahem, I don't mean to ruin your little compliment session, but you two are going on vacation and we kind of need enjoy these few hours with you together Nia: *sits next to him**hours later* We eat, drink, and just have a great time. Abby: which flight are you guys taking? Nia: uh- Tate: were flying private, I rented a private jet. Nia: what you don't have one? *jokingly* Tate:  I do, they're redesigning the inside Nia: why did I even ask? Tate: speaking of which, we have to go Nia: already? Tate: yeah we have to make it before the fireworks Nia: oh Tate: you can say goodbye and change, I'll put your stuff in my car Nia: okay

*Tate's views* I'm not going to lie, I'm very disappointed, cause I was really hoping that she would go with me. Now I have to hear my brothers and parents nag for the next two or three days. I know for a fact that Liam and Leo are going to make my life a whole lot more miserable that it's supposed to be. *airport* Liam: sup Lil Bro Leo: you know, I thought you were going to send one of your drivers or something Tate: I was already out, and I was going to drive over anyway. Liam: how everything going man? Tate: I'm here just living, working. how come you guys come alone? I know mom and dad are going to ask about their grandkids. Liam: My wife went to her parents' house Leo: same Tate: oh okay Liam: what about you man? Tate: what about me? Leo: come on man Liam: you know, you are not getting younger Tate: you guys starting already? Leo: we're not starting anything, we just hope you'd at least try to settle down by now Liam: enough with the parties and multiple women Tate: you guys might not believe me, but I don't really have that much time on my hands Leo: let me guess, too busy working? Tate: yeah I have priorities Leo: did we hear him right? Liam: priorities that don't allow you to date Tate: I can't wait for this weekend to be over. Liam: look we know you're old enough to do whatever you want and have the means to, but you're still our little brother. Leo: and since we live out of state, it'd be good if you settle to have a family or something. Tate: I'm working on it. Liam: well work a bit faster, mom and dad are not getting younger. Tate:*sigh* The entire drive I couldn't stop thinking about Nia. All these talks about having a family, would she marry me? I know we're not even official, but I doubt she would say yes, after what happened to her first engagement. That might need to take a lot of convincing if it gets to that point. We got to our parent's house and the nagging begin, in my case of course. I went up to my old room, everything looks better than how I left them, I'll take it mom cleaned up a bit. Looking around, I see many pictures of my ex-girlfriend and me. Normally I would feel very bad, but this time I don't. She's married, moved on with her life. I have Nia, I guess I should do the same as well. Tate:*sits on the bed looking at the pictures* Mom: someone better will come Tate: I know Mom: I didn't know if I can get rid of the pictures or not. Tate: It's okay, I kind of get over her actually. Mom: finally, now all you have to find someone better. *notices his phone lights up* hey who's that? Tate: who's who? Mom: the girl on your phone? Tate: oh it's just a friend Mom: you sure look happy smiling next to a "friend". Tate: *smile* I'm going to freshen up a bit Mom: well I'll just take these pictures down while I'm here. Tate: okay mom *two hours later, 7PM* It hasn't been a while and I already missed her. Tate: *calls Nia* Nia: hello Tate: hey Nia: did you make it? Tate: yeah, almost three hours ago. Nia: are you okay? Tate: yeah, nothing I wasn't expecting. Nia: what are you doing now? Tate: mom's setting up the table, we're about to eat in a bit, I wanted to talk to you first. Nia: awe I feel special Tate: you should Nia: I will make it up to you, I promise. Tate: yes you will, and I'm expecting interest Nia: always in business mode huh? Tate: do you have to ask? Mom: Larenz Food's ready Tate: Dinner's ready I will call you back Nia: okay *hangs up* *at the table* Mom: where is Liam? Liam: right here mom *walking in* Leo: come on man we're hungry Liam: where's dad? Mom: in his office, go get him Larenz Tate: why do I have to go? they're both already standing up Mom: because I say so
I went to get my dad out of his office, as we are getting ready to eat, the bell rings Dad: I'll get it. *at the door* Dad: Well, hello there "Hello, is this the Tate resident?" Dad: yes, it is. " Oh, good I thought I got the wrong place" Dad: and who are you, if I may ask? "Oh I'm sorry, I'm Nia" Dad: Nia, that is a lovely name. How may I help you, Nia? Nia: I'm looking for Tate Dad: you might have to be a bit more specific than that Nia: You're right *giggles nervously* Dad: I have three sons two of them are married and lives out of states, that means you're looking for Larenz. Mom: honey dinner's getting cold. Dad: come on in Nia: thank you. Dad: look's like we have a guest oh shit, did not see that coming. Mom: who is- Tate: Nia? what are you doing here? Nia: you asked me to come Tate: you said that you wouldn't come Nia: I know but.. Liam: are you going to introduce us? Tate: uh-uhm- This is Nia-uh Nia: I'm his girlfriend, nice to meet you guys. Leo: girlfriend? Liam: We talked in the car and you never mentioned you have a girlfriend. Because we weren't official, and I can't believe she just said that. Nia: Well, we were kind of keeping it under the radar, and he was just keeping his end of the bargain. Mom: So she's the friend on the screen on your phone. Nia: I'm sorry for interrupting your dinner, I will come back Mom: don't be silly, I'll set up and extra plate Tate: did you drive your car here? Nia: No, Kia drove her mom's car Tate: you two came alone? where is she? Nia: they're outside in the car, she came with her cousin, we'll just have dinner somewhere else Mom: three extra plates won't hurt Nia: are you sure? Mom: of course Nia: okay I'll go get them Tate: I'll come with you *outside* Tate: you came *stands by the door and crosses his arms* Nia: *walks towards him* you not happy? Tate: of course I am, I just hope you'd come earlier. That would've saved me a lot of lectures. What made you changed your mind? Nia: Kia, and we should probably hurry back inside. Tate: so she's not as crazy as she looks Nia: no We all went back inside, had dinner and the others had to leave since they had to drive a couple hours away. Now it's the time for everyone to start asking their questions. Mom: I'm not even going to ask if anyone want tea because I know you all want wine. Nia: Actually I'll have some tea. Mom: really? Nia: yes ma'am *minutes later* Mom: what do you think? Nia: this is delicious, what kind of tea is that? more like where can I get it? Mom: I got this at one of the stores at the mall Nia: really? Mom: they normally offer samples Nia: I never knew that normally I would just ignore them Mom: me too, If you want I we can go o the mall tomorrow and get some. Nia: I'd like that Mom: awesome Dad: honey the rest of us is still here, so how did you two meet? Nia: we met on a plane Leo: Plane Nia: Yea, we met when he was on a business trip, and I was going on a vacation with my friend who was here earlier. She took his seat, which I found weird later on. He could've easily had a first class seat. Mom: then what happened? Tate: we ended up in the same hotel Nia: and I guess the rest is history Liam: you look very young, mind if I ask how old you are? come to think of it, I don't think I know how old she is either. Nia: Well, I will be 30 on Dec 31st Leo: you're 29? Is she 29? Dad: that's a very big age gap, how do your parents feel about the age gap? Nia: Well I personally don't really think a person's age matter. It all depends on how mature the person is. Mom: It's a good thing that you're feeling this way, but as a parent, I would worry if my daughter were to date someone almost 13 years older than her? Dad: aren't you at least a bit worry? Nia: I'm not going to lie, I am worried, but not about that. Liam: what are you worrying about? Nia: although this is fairly new, I'm more worried about whether people think I'm with him, because of how much money he has. I think that is one of the few things I'm worried about. It scares me how well, she's taking the whole thing a lot better than I expected. They talk for another 30 minutes or so and then we went up to my room. Thank God, My mom removed the pictures. I went to the bathroom and came back and find her arms crossed. Tate: what? Nia: anything you want to tell me? Tate: you look really good Nia:*frowns* Tate: look, I'm sorry I didn't tell you that I was 13 years older than you are. Just thinking about me saying, oh you were born while I was getting ready to hit puberty is kind of creepy. I'm sorry Nia:*sigh* look, I'm not upset, I just wish you could've told me, instead of finding out like this, besides you don't look a day over 35 Tate: really? Nia: okay, maybe 36 Tate: *hugs her* Nia:*hugs him tighter* Tate: can we stay like this for a while? Nia: I would, my feet are killing me Tate: I love this look on you Nia: really? Tate: yeah, you have really nice legs, you should show them more often. Nia: I guess I need to work on my closet Tate: I don't want you to change the way you are, but maybe just a little bit fewer jeans and t-shirt and a bit more skirts and dresses, fewer sneakers more heels, leave your hair down a bit Nia: wow, is there anything else? *smile* Tate: yes, don't ever smile like to  any other guys Nia: *nodded* *Nia's views* It wasn’t long before he starts kissing me, kissing him back, pressing his lips harder against mine as he intensifies the kiss. He places his arms around my waist and pulls me into him until our body was press against each other. He began backing up until the backs of my legs bump into the bed.He reached down and grabbed right behind my knees, lifting me up, making me wrap your arms around his neck for a moment, and then he laid you back on the soft bed. Nia: you know we can't do that here Tate: why not? Nia: because it's kind of inappropriate Tate: *sigh* okay Nia: I should go take a shower Tate: can I join you? Nia: why? Tate: so we can save water Nia: another time Tate: I will remember that Nia: I know you will We both showered, and get ready for bed. Tate: you know tonight has a lot of first, first kiss, you introduced yourself as my girlfriend, and even if I sleep over at your place multiple times, I'm always in the guest room. Nia: I'm not your girlfriend Tate: what? Nia: I said that to save your ass, I don't remember you asking me out. Tate: okay, wanna be my girlfriend? Nia: no Tate: what? Nia: That's how 8th graders ask girls out, I'm a woman you have to do better than that. Tate: * pulls her closer to him* *next morning* I wake the next morning to the smell of breakfast and Tates is nowhere to be found. I check the time it's 9:37 AM, Thank goodness it's not later.I clean myself up and go downstairs. Nia: Good morning Tate: hey Nia: why didn't you wake me up? Tate: because you were still sleeping. Nia: Where's everybody? Tate: Mom's in the kitchen, dad in his office, and my brothers in their room. I went to the kitchen to see if there's anything I can help with. Nia: good morning mom: morning, you up early Nia: it's a bit late actually, is there anything I can help you with? Mom: I'm already done with everything, you can help set the table Nia: okay We set the table and actually talk like friends. Mom: what is the hardest thing about being with Larenz? Nia: well since everything is still new, one thing I notice is that he works non stop. Always working, I wonder if he ever takes a break? Mom: get used to it. All the men in this family are addicted to they jobs, as you can see all of them are somewhere on a computer. I guess I'm the only one who's not a fan Nia: My job includes being on the computer, but when I get home I try to stay away from it. After breakfast, we hang out a little bit and start getting ready for the dinner. Tate's mom and I actually spend the whole day together just getting to know each other. Mom: so tell me about your childhood? Nia: there isn't much to know Mom: I'm sure there is. Nia: well I have an older brother, but I haven't seen him in ages, I guess that makes me an only child... well until he decided to return. Mom: you know, looking at you I notice you barely check your phone all day, being your age and all most of them are interested in social media. Nia: Well growing up, I was so busy working, I kind of give on many things I guess you would call normal. Mom: working? Nia: yeah, I always wanted a birthday party since my parents couldn't afford it I decided to start working and save money for my 21st birthday Mom: That's fantastic, did you enjoy the party? Nia: well that didn't happen either. My mom had an accident so I used the money to help out, ever since then I kind of give up on the whole birthday thing. Mom: that's not good, everyone deserves a birthday party, Nia: Maybe someday when I have kids I'll make up for it. Mom: you want kids? Nia: someday, since nothing in my life is going as plan. Mom: in life, we get things we need, not what we want. Maybe all your plans failed because they were not the right one. Nia: I hope so. how was Tate's childhood? Mom: well he was quite normal until he met Tara. Nia: Tara? Mom: yeah he loved her, Larenz was not a good student but he studied, got through school just so their lives would be better, but things didn't work out that way. She didn't have has much faith in him like he had in himself. things fall apart and a few months later she got married and Larenz just turned out the way he is. I must say that this is the first time in ten years he actually brought someone here, he must really like you., you seem like a really good person, I hope things work out for you guys Nia: *smile*  I hope so too We spent the majority of the day preparing and cooking dinner. Right now I'm in the room, relaxing my legs a bit before I take a shower. Tate: hey chef Nia: I'm not a chef Tate: what are you doing in here? the other guests are here Nia: I need shower I didn't know they had other people coming over. *sigh* I take my shower and starts getting ready for dinner *Tate's views* I think this is the first time in a long time I'm at ease because I know I won't be the punch line of the jokes. I'm also worried about Nia because I know my family has no chill button. Aunt: Where are my grand nephews and nices? Leo: we came alone this year Liam: yeah, the ladies went to their parents this year Unc: What about you? when are you going to have kids? Tate: Whenever I'm ready to have kids Aunt: I think he's going to need a girlfriend. You know your youngest cousin already married and going to have a kid Tate: That's good for them, tell her I send my congratulations. Aunt: you're not taking this seriously are you? Tate: I am, everyone has their own times to make things happen. Aunt: you're 42, how much time do you need? Tate: all the times in the world Dad: are you guys going to keep argue or we're going to have dinner? Aunt: aren't you at least a bit worried? Mom: no, come on dinner's ready *at the table* Aunt: why is there an extra plate? Mom: oh we have another guest, speaking of Nia: Hello Unc: Well hello there Aunt: and who might this be? Tate: This is my girlfriend Nia, Nia these are my aunt and uncle Aunt: now I see why you guys don't seem worried. I must say that I was worried in the beginning, but the little lady sure can take care of herself. After Dinner, she helped clean the dining room and the kitchen, now sitting down talking to them. As much as I love how they are getting along, but She's been with my mom all day and I kind of wanna spend sometimes with her. Tate: Can I borrow Nia, you know for the rest of the night? Mom: but we are talking Tate: Mom, you've been talking all morning Well, I just grabbed her arms and take her upstairs. Nia: I am so tired Tate: I'm sorry about that, my mom doesn't really have many people to talk to as you can see. Nia: It's fine, she's kind of like my mom to tell you the truth. Tate: I love that dress by the way Nia: That's Kiara's Tate: why are you wearing her clothes? Nia: she didn't think my jeans and T-shirt would cut it. Tate: well she was right about that Nia: rude Tate: What are you doing tomorrow? Nia: I'm going shopping with your mom Tate: where do I fit into your schedule for this weekend? Nia: you can come with us Tate: no thanks Nia: come on seriously though, when was the last time you do something other than sitting in front of a computer? Tate: I don't like shopping Nia: how do you get all your suits? Tate: I have people  who do it for me Nia; what's the fun in that? Tate: I don't shop for fun Nia: Come on let's get some sleep. The two nights that we sleep in the same bed, I notice that she has one sleeping habit, she stays on that one side of the bed the whole night with one foot over mine. *next morning in the room* I would call this the best sleep I've had in a while, but My mother and Nia are going shopping and I'm being forced to go; well I want to spend some time with Nia. Tate: are you really gonna make me do this? Nia: you still complaining? Tate: Nia, It's 6 AM Nia: the sale starts at 3 AM Tate: you guys are going to buy things on sale? why don't- what are you looking for? Nia: I can't find my card Tate: what card? Nia: my debit card Tate: where did you put it? Nia: I had it in here, on my way here Tate: did you guys stop anywhere? Nia: yeah, gas station and- oh crap Tate: you left it there? Nia: I was fighting with Kiara over skittles and Tate: so what are you going to do now? Nia: Well no shopping for sure Tate: you're not worried? Nia: look if it was your card it'd be a problem, but my card is pretty much useless.   Tate: so what now? Nia: now you can go back to sleep, and I going to tell your mother that I'm not going. Tate: yes, you are. I am wide awake you did not wake me up this early for no reason for no reason. I've never seen so many people at the mall especially young kids, but then again I haven't been to the mall in a while. Apparently, my mom found some friends and decided to give me and Nia some time alone. Nia: what should we do now? Tate: let's go shopping. We go to many different clothing stores, it's annoying. Tate: why are we doing in here? Nia: Look, you need some clothes other than suits. Since you're here, let's look for some sneakers and comfortable clothes. We shop and shop, it's fun yet tiring. Tate: why aren't you getting anything for yourself? Nia: I don't want anything Tate: but, you were going to shop if you had your card Nia: yes, if I had my card since I don't I'll have to wait for another time. Tate: you know I can buy you whatever you want here right? Nia: I know, let's go put these in the car and come back. Walking back to the mall we stopped by a jewelry store, as soon as we get in there I can tell she found something she likes. Tate: do you wanna try it on? Nia: no need Tate: why not? Nia: I don't like to try on things I'm not buying. That will cost me a loan and an organ. my family is still counting on me, so I would like to keep all of my organs wherever they are. We walked out of the store and find my mom, Have lunch and then head back home. We didn't stay over much longer until we said bye to my parents. The drive back is surprisingly quiet. Tate: Thanks Nia: what? Tate: Thank you Nia: for what? Tate: for saving my ass this weekend Nia: oh you're welcome, It was great playing pretend. Tate: Pretend? Nia: yeah, you and I are not together remember I am confused, but we kissed and cuddled and.... Tate: what about your parents? Nia: what about them? Tate: are you going to tell them about you and.. Nia: Luke? I'm going to go over and tell them the truth Tate: and then? Nia: then... well we'll see where life takes me. What about you? Tate: Well now that my parents think that I'm dating you and also like you, I'm gonna have to make sure that you're my girlfriend for real. Not really sure how long that will take, but I need to make sure that you're really mine by the time I go back to my parent's house again. Nia: are you always this honest? Tate: no, I'm only like that with you Nia: why? Tate: I told you, I like you I have no need to lie to you about anything. Nia: that's..uh.. very considerate of you Tate: should I expect the same thing in return? Nia: I also don't have a reason to lie Tate: good, so what should I do to make you say yes? Nia: ask Tate: is that a trap? Nia: what makes you say that? Tate: it just feels like if I ask you now, you will say no Nia: oh *smile* Tate:*phone rings* hold on a sec Nia: okay Tate: Hello? "hey" Tate: who is this? "as it been that long that you can't remember my voice, it's Tara" Tara: Hey Tate: what's up? Tara: Nothing much, I just got back to town Tate: that's nice Tara: yea, I wanted to know if you were over at your mom's we could hang out Tate: I actually just left Tara: oh, Is there a way we can meet? I need to talk to you about something. Tate: how's Monday? Tara: sound's good, do you still live in the same place? Tate: no, but I still have the same office. Meet me there Monday at 2 PM Tara: Okay Tate: okay, I'll talk to you later *hangs up*  Where were we? Nia: you were about to ask me out Tate: Oh, right Nia: Well? Tate: I'm still not going to ask you because I know you'll say no, so I won't ask you. Nia: okay, well don't say I didn't warn you if someone else asks me Tate: what? very funny. Oh make sure you handle your card situation  *Later, in front Nia's apartment* Nia: thank you for the ride Tate: anytime Nia: so, enjoy your two hours drive back home. Tate: you know, I think I'm going to look for an apartment nearby. You know so I wouldn't have to drive two hours back and forth when I want to see you. Nia: I doubt anything here will suits your taste Tate: we'll see. You should totally talk to your mom and also- Nia: I know, to handle the card situation. Tate: *smile* We talk for a bit and then head out. On a side note, I wonder what Tara want? *Monday* I strangely wake up in a great mood, I'm normally in a good mood for work but, I had a great weekend, and I'm excited. My day was going well Until my next lunch meeting is with Ms. Towsend. Even my assistant Jenny notice, the shift change after seeing the name. Jenny: you look a bit shifty, an old fling? Tate: an old ex Jenny: oh, do you want me to change the reservation to Mcdonald? Tate: What?! no Jenny: one with a play park? Tate: I'll see you after lunch Jenny: don't be late, you have an important meeting at 2 PM sharp Tate: Yes boss On my way to lunch, I called Nia but it went to voicemail. *Restaurant* When I get there, she looks just the same as the last time I saw her. Tate: Hey Tara: Hey, how are you? Tate: I'm good, you look great Tara: thank you Tate: Have a seat, how are you? how's everything? Tara: everything's alright, what about yourself? Tate: everything is great, my life, work, everything is great. how's your husband? you guys come here for the holiday Tara: I actually come here alone Tate: oh Tara: yeah, I was thinking about moving back, well I'm planning on moving back here Tate: Oh Tara: Oh? that's all you have to say? Tate: I'm not really sure what you want me to say in this? Tara: we haven't seen each other in a while, I thought you'd be a bit happier than that Tate: moving away was your choice, moving back is also your choice, I've never had a say in it. Well, I'm happy that you'll be here, closer to your family that's a good thing. Tara: and what about you? Tate: what does that have to do with me? Tara: ouch, you don't sound too happy Tate: why wouldn't I be happy? you and I were good friends...at some point. Tara: Just good friends? I know things ended on bad terms, but is it to the point where you don't want to see me? or even acknowledge that we dated at some point? Tate: What? Tara: I'm just saying Tate: Look I'm really not in the mood to have this discussion Tara: why? Tate: *sigh* I really don't want to do this right now Tara: why not? Tate: because I don't want to, okay I have things to do I don't have the time to have this back and forth with you. We spent the hour going back and forth, and honestly, I'm glad it's over because I have to go.  We have so many unfinished things to talk about, but I have things to do. Tate: look, I will call you from the same number you called me later on, I have a meeting to go to so I'll see you later. I left to go to my meeting. As annoy as I am, I have to really focus. Our company is expanding by, investing in smaller companies, and we have this big presentation coming up, with many other big companies trying to the same thing, We might buy some of them if the competition is too fierce, so I really don't have that kind of time to deal with her. I tried calling Nia after the meeting but still nothing. Jenny: how was it? Tate: It's worst than I thought, everyone has their eyes set on one specific company, so we'll see. Jenny: how was your lunch date? Tate: don't ask Jenny: it was that bad uh? told you to take her to McDonald's. Tate:*chuckles* I should've Jenny: oh I looked into what you asked me to Tate: and? Jenny: I found something, It's not luxurious, but considering the location it's very high end, do you want to look at it? Tate: I'll just trust your judgment. Jenny: I guess I'll get it ready for you. Tate: thank you. Of course, the week is a busy one. I talked to Nia she said that she had a lot going on with her work and that she didn't really have time to hang out, it's a disappointment, but I understand her. Today I have less than the usual busy, I'm meeting up with Tara again, I know it's going to end up with an argument, so I cleared up my schedule and finish early. I went home take a nap, to calm all of my nerves that she's going to get on. Getting there she was already waiting. Tate: well I can see something has changed Tara: really? what? Tate: well you're always late, ALWAYS. Tara: No Tate: I guess I should say used to. Tara: I think we got on the wrong foot last time. Tate: we did Tara: Okay, how about we start over? how are you? Tate: I'm doing pretty good Tara: How's business? Tate: business turned out great actually Tara: That's awesome Tate: thank you, what about yourself? Tara: well not as great as you, but I'm doing okay. Tate: What about your family? Tara: Divorced, and my kids are- well adjusting to the changes Tate: you have kids? Tara: yea, I have 3. Two girls and one boy. Tate: really how old? Tara: 13, 10, 6. *shows him a picture of her 3 kids* Tate: just like you always wanted Tara: yeah *smile*  What about you? married? kids? Tate: No, and no Tara: how come? I mean with all the money you have, that shouldn't be a problem Tate: Tara money doesn't buy you things like that, even if it did it wouldn't last. Tara: ouch Tate: that came out wrong, I'm sorry. Tara: It's okay *bitterly smile* so you're not married? Tate: no but- *phone rings, smiles* excuse me I have to take this.*excuses himself to answer the phone* *outside* Tate: hey Nia: did I interrupt anything? Tate: no, not really. just having dinner with an old friend. Nia: is it a woman? Tate: yes Nia:*sigh* Tate: jealous? Nia: I'm stuck and work and you're having dinner with another woman, how do you want me to feel? Tate: *chuckles* it's just dinner, and what are you still doing at your job anyway, it's almost 8 PM. Nia: my car wouldn't start this morning I get to work late, so I'm making up the hour. Tate: it's almost 8 you already made the hour why are you still there? Nia: I'm also doing research for a presentation, I'm working my butt off just so someone else would take the credit for it. Tate: what do you mean someone else taking credit for it? Nia: well the person who will do the actual presentation is a man and will be taking the credit, but you should probably go back to your date. Tate: it's not a date, and make sure you call me when you getting off Nia: yeah yeah Tate: Nia I'm serious Nia: what you're going leave your date to come pick me up? Tate: stop calling it a date we're just catching up, and I mean it, call me as soon as you clock out Nia: okay, I will. *back inside* Tate: sorry about that Tara: It's okay, I know how this whole business works, never a day off Tate: oh, that was Nia, not work Tara: Nia is? Tate: my girlfriend Tara: girlfriend? Tate: yeah, she was just letting me know that she's working late. Tara: you have a girlfriend? Tate: yeah *shows her a picture of Nia* why do you sound so surprised? Tara: she looks sooo not like what I was expecting you to be with. what does she mean a what? Nia is a person, not a thing. Tate: okay, first of all, she's a who, not a what, and second who exactly we're you expecting me to be with? Tara: Well she's working overtime means she's not really well off. Tate: Nia is an independent woman, she has been taking care of her family ever since her early teen years, she worked to put herself through school, and does not take handouts from anyone, she's pretty well off if you ask me. Tara: what are you trying to say? Tate: I'm saying with the brain she has, she doesn't need money. Tara: why does it feel like you trying to tell me something? if you have something say go ahead and say it. Tate: Tara let's not do this Tara: do what? you know avoiding the situation won't help anything. Tate: what? Tara: we have to talk about what happened between us Tate: you know if you came a few years back and wanted have this conversation, I'd be happy to talk about it, but right now it's meaningless. Tara: That's what you think? you think everything that happened was meaningless? Tate: I never said what we had was meaningless, but the way it ended. Tara: Not like it was my fault Tate: so we're playing the blaming game? who's fault was it? Tara: you're saying it was mine? Tate: Tara you left me at the point when I need you the most using the excuse that I cheated on you. Tara: which you did Tate: No I did not. Even if nothing was going well at that time, there were many days where I wanted to give up, but then I wake up in the morning, starring at you sleeping and vow to never give up to give you the perfect life you deserve, I'll admit that I did a lot of things that I was not supposed to do at the beginning, but not once was I ever tempted to cheat on you. Do you know how hard it was for me? oh, right you didn't because just months later you got married to a very wealthy man, with everyone blaming me saying I cheated on you, and it actually got to the point where I believed it myself. I spend the past 10 years, blaming myself, and just focusing on my work, letting my life just slipping by. Shortly after you left, my business took off, and everyone else I tried to get in many relationships but they, were only interested in the money I was making, so I just stop trying to be serious, and well just take it as is. 10 years passed with me having meaningless sex with women for money until I met Nia. I started to feel things I never thought I'd be feeling. The instant connection, the need to want to protect her. Finally, I find a new reason to wake up and have something to look forward to, besides business meetings. I'm not saying what happened was your fault, maybe it needed to happen. I know I've said a lot, but I've been through too much to just let her think all this is going to be my fault.  It's sad that she got a divorced, but I have someone else to focus on. I'm not going to play this blame game, to start feeling guilty over something I didn't do. There weren't much to say afterward actually. To make it less awkward I changed the subject. Tate: so where are you living now? Tara: I live close to my parents, in one of the new apartment buildings. Tate: how are the kids taking it? Tara: well they're trying to adjust. Tate: Look, if you need help- Tara: I don't need your money Tate: I was going to say, if you need help finding a job, I can help you out with that. Tara: Oh okay. and speaking of jobs, I hope Nia's still not working. Tate:*checks his phone* Tara: that's the fourth time you've checked your phone, you okay? Tate: Nia was supposed to call me before she left work, but she hasn't. Tara: why? Tate: she said that her car would not start, I'm not sure if she's still at work or not calling cause she wants to handle it by herself. Tara: Oh, Tate: yeah, quite stubborn. Tara: well how about you go check on her? I have to go home to my mom's probably ready to go home. We said our goodbye and went our separate ways. *next day* Today I'm going over to Nia's to check on her since she didn't call me yesterday. Tate:*knocks on the door* Nia: *opens the door* hey Tate: Hey, can I come in? Nia: oh sure, *moves to the side* Tate: thank you. Nia: what brings you here so early? Tate: I was waiting for you to call me last night Nia: I forgot Tate: what about your car? Nia: I got it towed Tate: so it didn't work last night? Nia: no Tate: and you did not call me *sigh* Nia- Nia: it's fine, I made it home didn't I? Tate: that is not the point Nia: okay I'm sorry, I should've called you to let you know that I'm alright, but my phone died and I didn't memorize your number. Tate: how will you get to work? Nia: Kia, but what are you doing here? Tate: I came to check up on you Nia: how was your date last night? Tate: It was not a date, she was just an old friend Nia: old friend? Tate: well we dated years back Nia: so an ex-girlfriend? Tate: yeah Nia: Mhmm I see Tate: what? Nia: nothing Tate: you doing anything today? Nia: yeah, I'm going to go to my parents' house Tate: finally? Nia: yeah, I want it to make it less awkward before Christmas Tate: are you going to be okay? Nia: yeah Tate: are you going to be there all day? Nia: No, It's about an hour from here, and then I'm going to and outlet Tate: outlet? Nia: yeah, to buy Christmas stuff. what about you? Tate: nothing I know of Nia: wanna go for a ride? Tate: to meet your parents? Nia: no, well if it comes to it Tate: okay let's go Nia: okay, I'll go change For some strange reason, I just love being in this little apartment. It's warm and smells nice, and comfortable. *20minutes later* *Nia's view's* I am finally ready to go face my parents before Christmas. It's kind of chilly outside so I'm just going to bundle up. Nia: you ready to go? Tate: you look pretty nice Nia: thank you, and I'm glad you're not wearing a suit Tate: *smile* shall we *on the road* on the way there I start making my list. Tate: what are you doing? Nia: I'm writing a list Tate: list? Nia: things to buy Tate: do you have your card? Nia: yes We talk and listen to music, and the thought of him and his ex-crosses my mind, and I for some reason don't like it, but I won't let it bother me. Tate: what are you going to tell your parents? Nia: the truth Tate: can I ask you a serious yes or no question *stops under a red light* Nia: sur Tate: do you want to go out with me? Nia: what? Tate: I'm asking you out Nia: and you chose to do that in the middle of the street? Tate: why not? Nia: the light is green Tate: not the answer I'm looking for

Nia and Tate (2)
Nia’s Views.
I wonder how Kia’s doing, I’d call her but not going to do that. Glad I left everything in great shape before I left.
*next day*
The next day I had quite a lot to do. First I had to go to my job, I got lectured and suspended which is good, better than being fired, but I have a lot of work to do.
*later that day*
Kia: *bust in the house* I cannot believe you left me
Nia: sure, come on in
Kia: do you know how awkward it was?
Nia: nope
Kia: well it was very awkward
Nia: did you get your car?
Kia: yeah, he paid for it.
Nia: that’s nice of him. Did you go to work?
Kia: No, I’m fired anyway
Nia: who told you that?
Kia: you went?
Nia: yes
Kia: and?
Nia: Well, we’re suspended, with a ton of work to do.
Kia: oh, that’s better than I was expecting.
Nia: I know right
Kia: have you hear from Luke?
Nia: not what I’m looking forward to
Kia: are you going to give him the ring back?
Nia: well I’m not going to keep it
Kia: what about your new boo Tate?
Nia: he’s not my boo, and I don’t know.
Kia: really? I gave him your number I thought he would’ve called you by now.
Nia: you give him my number?
Kia: well yeah, you two hit it off so well. honestly, I think this vacation was the push you needed.
Nia: why do you say that?
Kia: you caught Luke cheating on you 9 months ago, and you shut people out, the only reason you talk to me is cause I’m a pain in your ass, but it would’ve taken you a while to go out again.
Nia: oh
Kia: but, that’s not what’s important right now
Nia: what is?
Kia: your birthday
Nia: my birthday is three months away
Kia: I know, but you’re going to be the big 30, speaking of age, how old you think Tate is?
Nia: I’m not sure, but I’ll give him around 33-36
Kia: are you inviting him to your party?
Nia: no
Kia: why not?
Nia: I’m not having one
Kia: why not?
Nia: I do not want one, I suggest you go work do your work.
We got suspended for a week, I use that week to catch up on my work. The following, we went back to work, but I really hate the stares I’m getting because of the whole cheating thing I had going on, but I’m not going to let that bother me.
*Friday evening*
Even though I try to catch up with my work, more just keep coming. I had to leave my house and go to my nearest Starbucks, just to sit down to focus. Sitting down I feel a stare burning the side of my temple, I know it’s a public place people can stare but damn. I went back to focus on my work *putting my headphones on*
I’m the most focus when I’m working. If I’m on my computer doing my work, all hell can break loose, and I would not know a thing. That’s good but also bad at the same thing.
I should go get another drink since I’m only sipping on ice.
“would you like me to get you another drink?”
Nia: yes, please I’ll have- wait *looks up and sees him*
Tate: hi, what kind of drink would you like?
Nia: uhm I’ll just have a water, please
Tate: I’ll be back
Nia: okay
I really hope Kiara didn’t tell him where I live.
*moments later*
Tate: here *hand her the water*
Nia: thank you, so what are you doing here?
Tate: I had a meeting two blocks from here
Nia: oh
Tate:  what are you doing? how did it go with your job?
Nia: Well I didn’t get fired, I got suspended and a hell lot of work to do.
Tate: Better than being fired right?
Nia: right, so how have you been?
Tate: just the usual
Nia: work
Tate: none stop, so you live around here?
Nia: about 30 minutes, you?
Tate: without traffic two hours, with traffic two and a half. are you always this focus when you’re working?
Nia: pretty much, why?
Tate: nothing. Where’s your friend?
Nia: I have no idea
As weird as this might sound, I actually missed him.
Tate: I should let you do our work.
Nia: yeah
Tate: I’ll see you another time *walks out* oh what the hell
Nia:* follows him outside*  Hey,
Tate: yeah
Nia: do you wanna have dinner with me.
Tate:*smile*
Nia: I mean, If you don’t have plans you can go-
Tate: Nia I’d love to have dinner with you.
Nia: okay, I’m going to get my stuff.
*moments later*
I think maybe I should change my pants
Nia: okay, maybe I should change my clothes.
Tate: wait for you here?
Nia: no you can just follow me.
*30miutes later*
Tate: how many tickets have you gotten so far?
Nia: none, why?
Tate: I thought you said it took you 30 minutes
Nia: why? Did you get scared of a little speed?
Tate: I can handle the speed *smirk*
Nia: shall we?
Tate: after you.
*upstairs*
Nia: Just warning you, My house ain’t fancy *opens the door*
Tate: nice place
Nia: Thank you, make yourself comfortable and I’ll go change.
I’m raiding my closet to find something, that looks cute but urggh  I’m going to end up with jeans anyway.
I decided to just wear white cutout jeans, and a denim shirt with the sleeves rolled up sleeves.
*Tate’s views*
Her place is small but comfortable. It has this warm feeling that made you not want to leave. I can see why she’s ready to do her spring cleaning, fall is full of her boyfriend pictures.
Nia: you ready to go?
Tate: Yeah.
*outside*
Nia: you driving?
Tate: sure *open the door for her*
Nia: oh thank you
Tate: you’re welcome
*moments Later*
Tate: where are we going?
Nia: well since you’re from the rich part of town, we’re going to try some good food over here.
Tate: *laughs* how do you know I’m from the rich part of town?
Nia: your watch and the car is a dead give away, and come on, the hotel, and you pay for both Kia and me, means you definitely not from this part of town.
Tate: should I watch over my shoulder?
Nia: you should
Tate: What?!
Nia: you scared?
Tate: no
Nia: don’t worry I’ll protect you
Tate: I feel so little right now
Nia: *lol* don’t worry I won’t tell anyone about this.
We got to this place that looks like a bar, I’m not sure they’d have food in there.
Nia: you might want to leave your suit in the car.
Tate: why?
Nia: you look uptight, take the suit and your tie off.
We walk inside, I can feel eyes on me.
Tate: is it me or are they staring?
Nia: everyone can tell you’re not from here.
“Nia?”
Nia: regular booth, please
“Okay, follow me”
We sat down in the booth, it been a while since I sat on one of these.
Nia: you can relax, they’re looking at me not you
Tate: why?
Nia: I got proposed in here, so no one actually knows about the breakup.
Tate: I’m sorry
Nia: it wasn’t meant to be, but let’s not talk about it. Do you want something to drink?
Tate: what do you recommend?
Nia: Well I don’t drink alcohol so I’m not much of a help in that area.
She is so much different from the last time I saw her, More confident. It’s like there are many sides of her, makes me want to get to know her more.
Tate: what are we eating?
Nia: I’m getting what I usually get, spicy shrimp pizza.
Tate: you’re joking
Nia: don’t judge it before you try it, besides you can order your own food.
It feels like the perfect place, people look friendly, like they’ve been coming here for a while, the smell of the beer is a perfect combination. I’ve never met anyone who looks that happy over food.
Nia: do you want to try it?
Tate: no thank you
Nia: you might like it
Tate: nope
Nia: it won’t kill you
Tate: Nah
Nia: just one bite *put it close to his mouth*
Tate: fine *takes a bite*
Okay, that is good.
Nia: Well
Tate: I’m mad at how good it tastes.
Nia: told you
Tate: you can hand over the rest.
Nia: not going to happen
Tate: come on
We split the pizza, I’m glad she didn’t get just one slice.
Tate: I must admit, that I didn’t have many expectations coming in here.
Nia: I told you-
“Nia”
He looks familiar, I’m guessing that’s the ex.
Nia: Luke
Luke: I’ve been looking for you, we need to talk
Nia: talk about what?
Luke: us
Nia: Luke there is no us, we’re done.
Luke: that’s it? Are we not going to talk about it? Come on Kim
Nia: there is nothing to talk about. I’m not sure why you have that pathetic look on your face, you cheated on me not the other way around. I don’t want to talk to you, I don’t have anything to say to you. I’m going to bag all your stuff and put them outside the door you can pick them up on Monday. Right now you’re interrupting my dinner, you may excuse yourself, have a good night.
Well damn
Nia: I’m sorry
Tate: it’s alright, you good?
Nia: yea.
Why did he call her Kim?
Tate: is Nia your first name?
Nia: nope, my full name is Kimberly Nia Parker.
Tate: Kimberly?
Nia: yeah don’t call me that.
Tate: why not? It’s nice
Nia: too many people have that name.
Tate: true, when’s your birthday?
Nia: guess
Tate: not really good at guessing
Nia: come on
Tate:  July?
Nia: really?
Tate: you look like a summer born type of girl, with your colorful house.
Nia: oh so we’re judging now mister uptight always wearing suits
Tate: they don’t hate on my suits
Nia: don’t talk about my colorful house.
Tate:*lol* okay, but for real when’s your birthday?
Nia: my birthday is Dec 31.
Tate: wow you almost made it to the new year, that’s in 3 months, doing anything?
Nia: nope, I’m gonna come here order some food, go home and watch movies.
Tate: come on, it’s new years eve you have to party.
Nia: I don’t know.
We talk and talk and more talking and we left the place at around 1 AM.
*in the car *
Tate: are there any hotels nearby?
Nia: why?
Tate: I don’t think I’m gonna be able to make it home
Nia: you can stay over if you want, it’s not as fancy as the hotels, but it has a bed and a roof over it.
Tate: you sure?
Nia: Yeah, I mean it’s my fault you still here anyway.
Thank God I stopped for coffee.
*her place*
Nia: okay you can sit out here for a bit, I’ll change the sheets out from the guest room, you can watch TV if you want.
I watch her go back and forth, from her room to the next bringing stuff, removing stuff.
Nia: okay it’s ready
Tate: thank you
Nia: you’re welcome. I put some clean towels in there for you to take a shower, there’s a pair of sweats in there with a shirt, I’m sorry they’re pink, that’s all I have.
Tate: thank you
Nia: you’re welcome if you need anything call me, well in an hour because I’m going to take a shower as well.
Tate: aight
*hours later*
It is 2 am  I hear her shuffling things out in the living room.
Tate: you good?
Nia: Did I wake you?
Tate: yes
Nia: I’m sorry I just feel like getting rid of these things right now.
Tate: you can do that in the morning
Nia: no if I don’t get rid of them now, I’m just gonna get annoyed and not being able to sleep.
Tate: need help?
Nia: I can’t ask you to do that
Tate: it’s okay
Nia: I’m only getting rid of the pictures, I’m keeping the frames if I like the pictures I’ll just cut him out.
Tate: what are you doing later?
Nia: well, since It’s fall I’m going to do a little shopping to change my colorful house to fall
Tate: I see you still on that
Nia: I am very salty about it, cause I put a lot of efforts on decorating my house
Tate: I’m just saying that I’ve never seen a house with so many colors, not that I have time that much time to go to people houses, but I doubt they’re that colorful
Nia: I wanna see how your house looks like, I bet you have one of them bougie ass all white houses.
Tate: What are you doing later?
Nia: not really sure yet, but I think it’ll involve shopping.
Tate: thought you didn’t like shopping?
Nia: I’m too busy adulting to be shopping all the time
Tate: Adulting?
Nia: working and paying bills, my paycheck doesn’t always allow shopping all the time.
Tate: I see
Nia: you should go to sleep
Tate: I’m good right here
Nia: I’m sure you’d be more comfortable on the bed.
Tate: trust me I’m fine here
Nia: okay
I spend the next 30 minutes watching her, taking things off the wall, pictures of albums.
Tate: ok ma'am I think that’s enough, you want to take out your frustration find another way right now it’s time to sleep.
Nia: I’m not-
Tate: I get it, you’re frustrated and annoyed doing all of this isn’t gonna help.
*following morning*
I must be dreaming because she said that she can’t cook, but I can smell food.
Tate:*sits on a stool by the counter watching her*
Nia: *startles* good morning
Tate: good morning
Nia: so, I made breakfast, what would you like?
Tate: *smirk*
Nia: what?
Tate: nothing
Nia: Okay then *takes out a plate and takes out scrambled eggs,* bacon or sausage?
Tate: …
Nia: both
She fixes my plate with food and fruits and went back to clean the kitchen.
Nia: *phone rings*  Hello? hey mom, what man? oh, so he went to complain to you huh. Listen, mom, I really don’t want to talk about that so I’ll see you later *hangs up the phone*
Tate: you okay?
Nia: yeah
Tate: you sure?
Nia: yeah, why?
Tate:*points at her hands*
Nia:*squeezing the syrup* oh eww, I’m going to take a shower.
Tate: okay.
*two hours later*
Tate: Thank you for having me over
Nia: well it was nice having you as a guest.
Tate: maybe next time we could have a sleepover at my place.
Nia: we’ll see
Tate: wait, you doing anything for Halloween?
Nia: I’m not sure yet, but I think it involves food and staying home.
Tate: why?
Nia: because I don’t like being scared.
Tate: Well I’m throwing a Halloween party and I’m inviting you.
Nia: no thank you
Tate: come on
Nia: no thank you, I’m fine
Tate: okay I’ll come pick you up, I’ll call you later.
Nia: okay.
I spent the two hours drive back home just smiling and thinking about yesterday It’s been a while since…
Following days we text each other as much as we can, talk on the phone as much as we can it feels nice, actually, it feels really really nice.
Rick: knock knock
Tate: Hey, what are you doing here?
Rick: your party
Tate: oh
Rick: how’s it going man?
Tate: same old, just working
Rick: and your ladies?
Tate: I don’t have ladies, I’m working on having one lady.
Rick: you’re not a one woman type of guy
Tate: *smile*
Rick: who is it?  please tell me it’s not the same girl from the hotel
Tate: yup
Rick: dude
Tate: what?
Rick: What about all the other women you have?
Tate: what about them?
Rick: you think they’re going to just sit there and let it happen? what about Tara?
Tate: you think I didn’t think about all these things? the other women will get over it.
Rick: what about Tara?
Tate: what about her? she moved on, got married, it’s been ten years. Now I have to start thinking about myself.
Rick: you serious about her?
Tate: I’m getting too old for this man, I spent a night over at her place, and before you ask, no I did not sleep with her. It just feels so right, even though we didn’t sleep in the same bed, I want to do it every day.
Rick: good luck man, I hope it works out for you.
Tate: yeah me too
*Nia’s Views*
Things have been going well with Tate and me, we talk and text each other, it’s pretty nice-
Kia:*burst in the door* I was thinking, we should watch scary movies for Halloween and just binge on ice cream.
Nia: first of all good morning, second I don’t watch scary movies, Third what are you doing in my office?
Kia: I’m bored
Nia: I’m pretty sure if I check your desk, I will find all the papers you haven’t worked on.
Kia: You worry too much
Nia: you’re right, it’s not my problem, besides, I have plans for that day.
Kia: you never have plans for Halloween, what is it?
Nia: Tate’s having a party and he invited me.
Kia: when were you going to tell me that?
Nia: never, cause I’m not going
Kia: why not?
Nia: I hate dressing up
Kia: but it’s a party
Nia: I am aware, and I hope you’re aware that I’m two seconds from kicking you out of my office.
Kia: I’m coming over later
Nia: please don’t
Of course, she came by later.
Kia: I don’t see why you are not going
Nia: because I don’t want to go
Kia: why not?
Nia: Kiara I do not want to go, end of discussion.
Kiara spent the following days nagging me about the party until I give up. We have 3 days to find a costume. Three days before Halloween? everything is pretty much gone.
Kia: that’s all your fault if you had said yes earlier-
Nia: Why are you complaining? you found your costume.
Kia: you are the guest of honor-
Nia: who told you that?
Kia: well he likes you, so you are his guest of honor
Nia: sometimes I wonder if you have anything in your head, like is it just an empty skull? do have a brain in there? how small is it?
Kia: the only thing they have here is this spiderman costume and it’s two sizes bigger.
Nia: I’ll just wrap some tissue  an go as a mummy
Kia: I’m embarrassed to be your friend.
Nia: now you see how I feel about you every day.
She ended up buying the spiderman costume. I’m not really sure why she thinks she can fix it, but she’ll be my entertainment for the rest of the day.
Nia: how exactly are you planning on fixing this?
Kia: You’ll see, I’m going to wash it, and shrink it in the dryer
Nia: okay good luck, I’m going to nap.
*2hours later*
So, the costume shrink
Kia: you win, we’ll stay home
Nia: I’m glad you back to your senses.
Kia: I’m going home
After she left I went online to find something. Everything I would like all sold out, clicking links after links, I finally find this website with all of these things that I personally would not wear. They’re pricey and paying extra for the shipping, I feel so sad paying for them.
*call from Tate*
Tate: Hey
Nia: what’s up?
Tate: Nothing, just heading to a lunch meeting.
Nia: why does this feel like a depressing text? is it the you don’t want to go but have to go meetings?
Tate: yup, what you do today?
Nia: work, I went out with Kia, now just chilling. you’re not driving and using your phone, are you?
Tate: no, I’m not driving.
Nia: good
Tate: you know still haven’t said yes to my party.
Nia: If I haven’t said it that probably means no.
Tate: funny, because I’m not taking no for an answer.
Nia: is that so?
Tate: yes, as a matter of fact, I’m picking you up myself.
Nia: Mhhm really?
Tate: yes. look I will call you back okay
Nia: okay.
While out with Kia, I bought a few things for my place. With some music, I flip my living room upside down.
*Oct 31*
I mentally prepared myself since yesterday for tonight’s party. I told Kia I had an emergency, to bring her here. She’s been moody since yesterday.
Kia: what’s the emergency?
Nia: why you look like your cat die?
Kia: what do you want?
Nia: I need a blanket
Kia: why are you telling me that?
Nia: so you can go get it
Kia: Kimberly Naya Parker you made me drive over here to get you a blanket that you could’ve just get off your lazy ass to get?
Nia: yeah
Kia: *breath in and out*
Nia: come on I’m cold
Kia:*walks in the room*
wait for it
Kia:*screams, and runs back out* where did you get these?
Nia: I bought them, you owe me $90
Kia:$90?
Nia: yes, I had to pay extra for fast shipping.
Kia: why didn’t you tell me?
Nia: I liked how miserable you were, The party’s at 7 PM, it’s a two-hour drive, so you should go get ready.
Kia: It’s 2 PM
Nia: exactly
Kia: what about you?
Nia: I won’t take that long.
Kia: you’re not wearing makeup?
Nia: nope
We fought for the next two hours, it’s not that I don’t like makeup, it’s just when I get home I just get lazy about taking it off.
She had a latex captain America costume I had Batman cause it’s black, I love wearing black. I get annoyed quickly cause I got hungry, and there is not enough room in this tight costume to breath.
I got a text from Tate that he’s outside, I’m nervous, the fact that I don’t really like parties, and it’s probably a bunch of snobby people.
*downstairs*
Tate: Well hello ladies
Kia: Captain America nice to meet you.
Nia: I’m Batman, I would rather stay in my cave
Tate: you guys look great
Nia: thank you.
Tate:*open his car door for them*
*in the car*
Tate: good day?
Nia: I’ve had better and worst.  You?
Tate: I’m ready for a vacation
Nia: didn’t you just had one?
Tate: no, that was for work.
Nia: oh
Tate: I’m taking a winter vacation soon, Going snowboarding
Nia: sounds interesting
Tate: do you know how to?
Nia: I’m not a fan of falling on my butt, not a fan of falling period. The snow is not really my thing, I’m more of a summer born type of girl.
Tate: you should get out of your comfort zone.
Nia: no thanks, it’s safer for me.
Tate: what about you, Kia?
Kia: I know how to
Tate: see she knows how to snowboard
Nia: she learned it to impress a guy, my butt is more important to me.
We got to the party it looks like the typical Halloween party except more high-end. The only thing I’m interested in is food, and I have not seen any insight.
Tate went to greet his guests, and Kia loves all the attention she’s getting, I’m just hungry.
It’s dark and foggy, I find a balcony with a chair with a nice view I’m good.
Sitting looking at the big houses, wondering how much would it cost to live there? What kind of job these people have? What’s in the house? How much do I need to work to afford one, or even rent one?
I’m contempt with how my life is but. Speaking of my life, I haven’t been able to tell my parents about me not getting married. I know he went over and tell them something. I  have to go over for Thanksgiving it’ll have to wait till then.
*Tate’s views*
It’s been almost two hours and I have no sight on Nia, I look everywhere but I can’t find her. Kia, on the other hand, seems to be having fun.
Tate: hey can I talk to you for a bit?
Kia: sure
Tate: have you seen Nia?
Kia: no, the last time I saw her she was looking for food
Tate: food?
Kia: yeah think she missed both lunch and dinner
Tate: does she have her phone?
Kia: she should, but with all this noise she’s probably not going to hear it.
*hours later*
After waiting for what seems like four hours, I finally see her walking out.
Tate: where were you? hiding in a cave?
Nia: Yeah, until I get hungry.
Tate: why didn’t you tell me?
Nia: you had guests to attend to
Tate: I know, but I could’ve ordered you something.
Nia: that’s alright, have you seen Kia?
Tate: yeah, she’s over there.
Kia: okay see you in a bit.
After an hour or so, I apologize to some people and take the ladies home.
Kia: you know a taxi would’ve been fine.
Nia: yeah, you didn’t have to take us
Tate: since I picked you guys up, it’s only right to do so.
We got food on the way back, and Kia knocked out.
Tate: I’ll take it as you didn’t have fun
Nia: I did
Tate: doesn’t seems like it.
Nia: I had fun my own way, I was starving but doesn’t mean it was that bad.
Tate: oh I see
Nia: how are you going to sleep?
Tate: what do you mean?
Nia: the party was at your house, no?
Tate: oh no that was just one of my houses, that house is kind of reserved for things like that.
Nia: why’s that?
Tate: Well it’s hard to control a lot of people, having parties at my house mean people are going to go in places or rooms they shouldn’t have been in. That house is empty,  there’s nothing in there.
Nia: oh, I see
Tate: yea, but more importantly your birthday is in a month.
Nia: yeah
Tate: are you excited?
Nia: meh
Tate: you’re not excited?
Nia: it’s just a birthday
Tate: so everyone always excited about their birthdays.
Nia: I passed that phase.
Tate: why’s that?
Nia: I’ve always wanted a birthday party when I was younger, but I never had one. After I turned 16, I decided that I would throw my own party. I started saving money for my 21st birthday, I work anytime I had the chance. I planed my party since it’s New year eve, I wanted an all-white party, on the roof just to see the fireworks, since I love to eat I wanted my favorite foods, like cupcakes-
Tate: pizza
Nia:*laughs* Yes absolutely. I planned every single detail. As I got older I got better jobs make more money, as soon as I was getting ready to put things in action, my mom got into an accident, and well there goes my party.
Tate: you used the money?
Nia: yeah, she needed surgery and I had the money saved, it wasn’t much but it helped.
Tate: did you regret it?
Nia: of course not. It stung a little because that was five years of saving. Five years of no shopping, going out or do anything folks my age basically do. I spent my 21st birthday eating hospital food sleeping on a chair. After I got engaged, I thought that was it, by then I had a great job. I said I would make up for all the birthdays I missed, I started saving.. again. I worked extra, and of course no shopping or enjoying myself, and then I got cheated on. I guess that how I realized there are more important things than a birthday party or fancy wedding, I stopped caring about a lot of things to tell you the truth.
Tate: wow
Nia: but don’t feel sorry for me, I turned out pretty good. I put myself through college, got a degree I’m doing pretty well.
Tate: you pay for tuition yourself?
Nia: loans I’m still working on. I’m going to use the wedding money to buy my parents a house paid in full, I still have a lot more working to do, then tackles my student loans
Tate: then?
Nia: I work to travel
We get to Kia’s house she’s still fast asleep. Well, obviously I had to help her out.
Tate: you have her keys?
Nia: yeah, I kind of have to take her home a lot. Good thing I don’t drink.
Tate: that would be a disaster.
While Nia went to help Kia get set for bed, I look around the sitting room there are so many pictures of the two of them together. Even years before she was just as beautiful.
Nia: okay she’s all set, I’m going to put her alarm on.
Tate: won’t it go off when she wakes up?
Nia: no, her mom is getting off of work at 7 AM, she won’t be up until 2 PM
Tate: wow
Nia: told you, I’m kind of a pro at putting her to bed.
We head back out to drop her off.
Nia: I’m beat.
Tate: tell me about it, I feel like my eyelids are 10 pounds each.
Nia: do you want me to drive?
Tate: no
Nia: you sure?
Tate: Yeah.
Nia: you know you still never tell me what you do for a living, besides it being “business”.
Tate: it is just business.
Nia: that sounds like an excuse you give your girlfriend when she thinks you’re too close to your assistant “come on baby it’s business” *mimicking his voice*
Tate: was that me? Is that how I sound?
Nia: *laughs* yeah
Tate: I sound nothing like that
Nia: yes you do.
Tate: do not, I have a sexy voice.
Nia: please don’t ever say that I think you should let the other person that.
Tate: why?
Nia: I’m just saying you sound kind of like an a-hole
Tate: I’m a sexy asshole.
Nia: you’re special
Tate: you think so?
Nia: yeah, I think you’re a special asshole
Tate: you forget the sexy part
Nia: I was not trying to include it.
We fool around until we get to her house.
Nia: thank you for the ride, I had a good time.
Tate: you’re welcome.
*Nia’s views*
I really don’t know if it’s obvious but I’m really digging this guy, I wished he lived closer, but I guess that’s suck.
As always he opens my door and walks me to my place.
Nia: are you going to be okay driving back?
Tate: yeah
Nia: are you sure?
Tate: yes
Nia: but your eyes are saying something else.
Tate:*chuckles* trust me I’ll be fine.
Nia: do you want to come inside?
He looks dead tired, no way he’ll be able to drive two hours.
Tate: another time.
Nia: look it’s Saturday morning drunk people are on their way home from parties it’s not really safe driving. You said you were sleepy, and that’s even worst, besides I need help with this zipper.
Tate: Nia-
Nia: Look this is not up for a debate, you’re staying. Lock the door after you *walks inside*
Tate: yes ma'am.
Nia:*kicks off her heels* I’m suffocating in this thing. *stands in front him* unzip, please.
Tate: *helps her out* I see you change the colors
Nia: thank you, and yes I did.
We both got ready for bed, and I guess that was the night.
*next morning*
waking up I smell food. walk out, he is in the kitchen cooking.
Nia: I can get used to this.
Tate: Good morning.
Nia: Good morning, I didn’t know you can cook
Tate: there are a lot of things you don’t know
Nia: really? wanna tell me?
Tate: I can show you better than I can tell you
Nia: really?
Tate: really really.
Nia: *smile* I guess, I’m gonna look forward to you showing me all the things I don’t know.
Tate: So what is your plans for Thanksgiving?
Nia: normally I would go to my mom’s but, since I’m ducking them about the whole engagement thing I guess shrimp pizza it is.
Tate: why are you stalling? you should just tell the truth and get it over with.
Nia: Luke already went to them, and tell them who knows what
Tate: then go tell them the truth.
Nia: I’m not really a fan of explaining myself.
Tate: and you think stalling is helping? that’ll only make you look guilty
Nia: get off my ass
Tate: trust me, if I was on your ass, you wouldn’t want me off.
Nia: what about you, Mr. know it all?
Tate: I’m gonna go to my parents and they’re going to nag me just like they do every year, complaining about how I don’t take life serious blah blah blah.
Nia: you don’t?
Tate: I have two other brothers, they’re married and I’m not
Nia: I see.
Tate: oh by the way your fridge is empty
Nia: Well I would’ve gone to the grocery store yesterday but, I went to your party. I’ll go later.
We didn’t do much after that, he went home, I went grocery shopping, and I guess chill and get ready for the following week.
*weeks later*
I’m happy on how busy the past few weeks have been. I love being super busy with work, to me it makes the days go faster, when you have deadlines and the days tries to catch up with you, I find it really exciting.
*Day before Thanksgiving*
*phone call from Kia*
Kia: you really not going to your family’s for Thanksgiving?
Nia: hello to you too, I’m doing great. How about yourself? And to answer your question no, if it was just my family as in my mom and dad it’d be fine, I just don’t feel like dealing with everyone.
Kia: if you had told them-
Nia: Kia let’s just not okay?
Kia: I’m sorry, but you don’t have to stay home alone, you can come over.
*phone beeps*
Nia: hold on I’m getting another call.
Kia: okay *hangs up*
Nia: hello
Tate: hey, what are you doing?
Nia: eating ice cream, and watching T.V., what’s up?
Tate: nothing, I’m heading to my parents’ house, but I’m stopping somewhere else first.
Nia: have fun
Tate: how was your day?
Nia: Well, I haven’t really done anything. I showered, eat, and that’s about it.
Tate: did you at least call your parents?
Nia: I will do that later, right before dinner.
Tate: what? what is going on in your head?
Nia: right now? nothing I- *hears a knock on the door* hold on there’s someone at the door
I hate when people come to my house unannounced-
Nia: what the hell?
Tate: hi
Nia: what are you doing here?
Tate: not really sure, but I think it involves me taking you with me
Nia: uh not gonna happen
Tate: you can’t spend Thanksgiving alone
Nia: yes I can, watch me
Tate: Nia-
Nia: Look I appreciate what you’re trying to do-
Tate: Then come with me
Nia: to your parents’ house?
Tate: yea
Nia: why would I want to do that?
Tate: because it’s better to spend time with other people on Thanksgiving.
Nia: you know I have this thing, where, when I plan something I’m kind of expected it to go as planned. I planned to stay home for Thanksgiving, and I will do just that.
Tate: look I need your help
Nia: with what? *walks in the kitchen, and grabs a bottle of water*
Tate: *sits on a bar stool*
Nia: you look serious, what’s up?
Tate: Look I have two older brothers, and they all kind of have their lives altogether, and my parents have been giving me hell for the past 10 years. I’m the punch line to every joke on Thanksgiving.
Nia: so, where do I come in on this? I mean why am I being dragged?
Tate: Look I know, we said that we would take things slow, but-
Nia: you want me to save you this weekend, well Thanksgiving is on a Thursday, so it’s not really a weekend and also, Black Friday is the next day I have a few things I have to buy
Tate: are you even taking me seriously?
Nia: yes, it’s just I want to go black Friday shopping.
Tate: look I’ll take you shopping and do whatever you want for a whole day, and all you have to do is help me survive Thanksgiving.
To be honest with you I just really don’t want to get out of the house.
*Tate’s phone rings*
Tate: hello, no I’m not there yet. Are you joking right? okay, I’m on my way.
Nia: you okay?
Tate: yes, I have to pick up my brothers from the airport.
Nia: oh okay
Tate: okay, well I’m going to text you the address regardless, in case you change your mind.
Nia: look, it might not be as bad as you make it seems.
Tate: I’ll see you later.
Well, I certainly did not plan on feeling like an asshole today. what should I do?
Nia: *calling Kia*
Kia: that was a long hold
Nia: that was Tate
Kia: you put me on hold for your boyfriend
Nia: he’s not my boyfriend`
Kia: might as well. you both obviously like each other, enjoy each other’s company, Nia, the guy really like you. he lives 2 hours from you, even when he’s busy and tired he still manages to see you.
Nia: He actually just called asking me to spend Thanksgiving with him.
Kia: that’s really nice
Nia: yeah, he even come here to pick me up
Kia: well what are you waiting for?
Nia: well I told him no
Kia: you know what, I’m coming over right now *hangs up the phone*
*20 minutes later*
*door bust open*
Nia: I know you have a key, but can you pretend to knock
Kia: what do you mean you tell him no?
Nia: I didn’t feel like going
Kia: why not? what exactly did he say?
Nia: well he said that his parents been on his case for the past ten years about him not being serious about life and all, so he wanted me to go with him.
Kia: ten years? how old is he?
Nia: is it weird that don’t know?
Kia: it is very weird, but he looks around 35 or 36, but that’s not what’s important. What’s important is you start getting ready to go. *walks to her room* did you shower?
Nia: yes, why?
Kia: let’s go find you something to wear
Nia: Kia-
Kia: just don’t. I know you always do the opposite of what I say, but for once listen to me.
Nia: okay
Kia: Okay, let’s pack you some stuff because you’re going
Nia: oy vey

Nia and Tate (1)
*Airport*
Kia: I’m going to make sure you never forget this vacation
Nia: right
Kia:  who knows, you might find-
Nia:* puts her headphones on*
Kia: Rude.
*In Airplane*
“I’m sorry, I think you’re in my seat”
Kia: No, I’m not
“Yes, my seat number is 335, which is where you’re sitting”
Kia: But-
Nia: What is your number?
Kia: I want to sit next to you
Nia: Please find your seat, you’re only one row ahead
Kia:*move to her seat*
Nia: I’m really sorry about that
“that’s okay, I’m Tate”
Nia: I’m Nia
Tate: Nice to meet you
*getting ready for taking off*
Nia:*nervously tapping her nails on the side of the chair* [MORE]
Tate: you nervous?
Nia: yeah, not really a fan of flying
Tate: First time flying?
Nia: no, I just don’t like it, I’m more of a road trip type of person
Tate: It’s not that bad just don’t think about it
Nia: I’ll take it you fly a lot?
Tate: Yeah, a lot more than I like, but you get used to as the time goes by
Nia: Oh, I see
Tate: You going on vacation?
Nia: I guess you can call it that, what about you?
Tate: I guess I can call it both business and pleasure
Talking to him I didn’t realize that the plane had already taken off. *smile*  thanks for the distraction. I guess I fell asleep staring at the window. I wake up feeling more relax than expected-
Tate: had a nice nap?
Nia: *realizing that her head is on his shoulder* Oh my- I am so sorry
Tate: you don’t have to apologize for that, look at this you wake up just in time for lunch.
Nia: do you have anything that doesn’t have shellfish?
“I’m not sure”
Nia: Oh.. okay then
“ I’m really sorry about that, I will go check in the back to see if I find something for you”
Nia: You don’t have to worry about it
“ Are you sure? ”
Nia: *smile* I am
Tate: you can’t eat seafood?
Nia: yes
Tate: then why didn’t you take it?
Nia: My body responds to food differently when I’m under a lot of stress, I just didn’t want to take the risk with it.
Tate: Oh, I guess that’s understandable. On the plus side, we’ll be landing in 30minutes
Nia: awesome, I’m just going to listen to some music in the meantime.
Tate: Mind if I? I have my own headphones
Nia: Uhm… I’m not sure if you’d like my kind of music
Tate: It can’t be that bad
I bought one of the double headphone plugs for me and Kia, but she’s not here I guess it still comes handy My playlist is on shuffle, I’m not really sure what will play when, but good luck sir Tate.
*30 minutes later*
The plane is about to land so I have to pack everything in.
Tate: I’m impressed with your taste in music.
Nia: Thanks
Tate: I was expecting a bit more millennials
Nia: I’m slightly offended
Tate: I didn’t mean to, it’s just that you look so young I wasn’t expecting such mature playlist
Nia: I guess I should take it as a compliment
Tate: You should
Nia: *smile*
After we get out of the plane, he stayed with me to wait for Kia.
Tate: so which hotel you guys are going to?
Kia: We’re going to “Le Fontaine Bleu”
Tate: Oh, we’re going to the same place
Kia: are you a stalker? you’re just saying that because we’re going there.
Nia: Kia can you not?
Tate: Not a stalker, I’m going over there for a business conference
Nia: sorry about that
Tate: My ride is already waiting on the outside, do you guys need a ride since we’re going to the same place?
Nia: No thank you
Tate: well it was nice meeting you, Nia
Nia: It was nice meeting you too Tate
After he left, we made our way out. It took us so long to find a taxi, and when we get to the hotel it was pack, like what is going on? By the time we get to the hotel, I was beyond annoy. I booked the rooms a week ago, now this lady’s telling me that the rooms are still occupied
“I am so sorry about that, but you’re gonna have to wait for a few minutes”
Nia: Okay
few minutes
few minutes
few minutes
few minutes turns to 30, 40,60, 80 and so on
I am furious, Im starving, my head hurt
Nia: *walks up to the concierge*  excuse me, you said a few minutes, it’s been two hours
“I know, I’m so-”
Kia: Sorry is not helping anything or anyone. I saw multiple people checked in, but we’ve been waiting here for the past two hours and still haven’t been able to check in yet. If you’re actually sorry you will get us our rooms. I am not going to sit back down again, they’re already paid for, I do not want a refund I want the room I paid for.
“Ma'am, can you please calm down?”
Kia: This is as calm as I get, I want to see your manager.
While Kia going off, I’m just sitting here letting it happen because I will go off if I go up there.
Tate: Nia?
Nia: hey
Tate: what are you doing here? you just got here?
Nia: I’ve been here for almost 3hours, the rooms I booked a week ago are not ready. The lady said to give her a few minutes, it’s making it’s way to three hours.
Tate: how come?
Nia: I have no idea
Tate: hold on let me check.
Nia: good luck
Tate:*walks up next to Kia*  what’s seems to be the problem?
“Well sir, the rooms that they booked are still busy”
Tate: That actually has nothing to do with them, you’re going to make them wait until the rooms are ready? what if it takes two days? are you going to let them wait out here?
“I’m doing my best”
Tate: I am aware that you have the whole conference thing going on, but come on
“ Those were booked ahead of time”
Tate: I booked my room last night, it was ready as soon as I got here. they booked their rooms a week ago. Look, like I said you have a lot going on, how about you give them two different room until their rooms are ready?
The manager had to come and give us the room, I’m not sure why, but that lady was not having it.
Manager: Again I’m really sorry about that
Kia: You should really talk to your employees to be a bit nicer to your guests, I will personally write a good review for your hotel.
Nia: thank you again for your help
Kia: yeah, thanks. You know maybe later after we settle we can go for a drink?
Tate: I’d love that
Kia: Well I’m going up
Nia: Well, I guess that’s my cue to leave.
Tate: You might want to eat something first
Nia: I am beyond over the whole eating thing. I’m just going to take a shower and sleep.
Tate: That’s not really healthy
Nia: I know, but not really feeling it.
Tate:  Okay, how about this?
Nia: what?
Tate: have dinner with me
Nia: uh
Tate: I’m going to the conference, that’s going to be about 3hours. you can sleep, and when you wake up have dinner with me
Nia: I’m-
Tate: I’ll take that as a yes. Meet me back here at 9:30 *walks away*
I am just done for today.
My room is awesome, I guess they make up for the wait. I have the best city view, I wonder what it’ll look like at night. I showered and head to sleep.
*hour’s later*
So I think I missed my dinner appointment since it’s 10:15. I throw on a dress and a converse and head downstairs. I walked around everywhere until I find him in a bar
Nia: hey
Tate: Hi
Nia: I’m sorry about that, I guess I overslept.
Tate: That’s okay, you had a long day.
Nia: Is that offer for dinner still on the table?
Tate: of course, shall we?
Nia: after you
We got to the restaurant, I was beyond starving.
Nia: I really hope the food is good, I am starving
Tate: It smells nice
Nia: it better taste as good
*moments later*
Tate: so tell me about yourself
Nia: There isn’t really much to know about me
Tate: well I’m here for work and you?
Nia: well I’m here for- honestly I’m not even sure why I’m here. I was just, going through a lot, and I agreed to come here without even thinking about it.
Tate: want to talk about it?
Nia: no
Tate: Okay, well how about a personal life, boyfriend, Fiance, husband?
Nia: Well I had a fiance, but turns out I was not the only person he was with
Tate: damn
Nia: Its fine
Tate: are you alright?
Nia: It hurts, but life goes on right?
Tate: I’m sorry
Nia: it’s okay, what about you?
Tate: me?
Nia: yes, dating?
Tate: I’m not dating
Nia: why don’t I believe that?
Tate: why is that so hard to believe?
Nia: Well, you’re good-looking, successful, what are you a psychopath?
Tate: Well thank you for that compliment, but since you’re being honest, I am not seeing anyone, and I’m not a pshycho either.
Nia: then why not?
Tate: I just haven’t found the right person to commit to
Nia: I see
After we finish eating, we went to the bar for a drink.
Tate: you’re a drinker?
Nia: not really no.
Tate: So what’s your plan for tomorrow?
Nia: I’m not really sure yet, but I think it’ll involve a lot of sleep.
Tate: well I’m having a brunch meeting tomorrow, and then I’m free
Nia: Well I might need to check with Kia first.
Tate: she can come with us
Nia: I need to check first.  You seem like you had a long day,  you should probably go to sleep now.
Tate: I’m fine, besides I’m really enjoying your company.
Nia:*looks at him and smile*
Tate: what? Do I have something in my teeth?
Nia:*laughs* no
Tate: do you like your room?
Nia: yeah, the view is fantastic.
Tate: that’s awesome.
We talk and talk about random stuff until I push him to go rest.
Tate: you know I still have energy right?
Nia: yeah, save it for your brunch tomorrow.
Tate: okay, I’ll see you later.
*next morning*
Kia: you look awfully smiley today, did something happened?
Nia: no
Kia: are you sure? You’ve been poking this waffle for a minute. What’d you do last night?
Nia: Well after you went up to your room, Tate asked me to have dinner with him
Kia: did you?
Nia: Well.. yeah
Kia: how was it?
Nia: it was pretty good, we went to the bar afterward and just talk… it was very comforting I would say.
Kia: that’s great
Nia: Well he wants to go walk around later this afternoon, I told him I would check in with you
Kia: come on you and I both know that I don’t like to walk, I heard the spa is off the hook, that’s where I’m going to spend the afternoon.
Nia: are you sure?
Kia: I’m positive go enjoy yourself you deserve it. Just keep your phone on, I’m going to download a tracker on the just in case.
Nia: I need one for you as well.
After breakfast with Kia, we went to the gym and then hit the pool. After hanging out there, I went back up to shower and get ready.
I don’t have his number so I have no idea how I will get in touch with him.
It’s about 3:45 right now I’m going to wait downstairs. For some weird reason, I feel very anxious and looking forward to talking to him.
Getting in the elevator I find him losing out his tie.
Tate: Hey, I’m sorry that took a bit longer than I expected.
Yea I’ve only been waiting for two hours.
Nia: oh no it’s okay, I was with Kia.
Tate: she’s not going with us?
Nia: she’s not really a fan of walking.
Tate: I’m just going up to change my clothes
Nia: Okay
Tate: want to come with?
Nia: no thank you
Tate: it’ll be a second *pulls her out as the elevator stops*
Nia: I’ll just wait outside the door
Tate: I think that’ll be a little weird.
I got in, his room is just wow, did he pay for it? Why did he sit in the regular seat on the plane if he can afford first class seats?
Nia: what do you do for a living?
Tate: I’m a businessman
Whatever business he’s in, he needs to hook me up.
Tate: you ready to go?
Since this morning.
Nia: sure
Tate: do you want to take a taxi or walk?
Nia: what you think?
Tate: whatever you want to do
Nia: Well I guess can walk for now.
Tate:*chuckles* okay but let me know if you’re tired.
Nia: okay, how was the brunch?
Tate: it was alright, the food was good.
Nia: that’s always a good thing.
We walk, talk to look at stuff.
Nia: *stops at a window they sell kitty headbands*
Tate: we are not going in there
Nia: come on *pout and blinks uncontrollably*
Tate:*sigh*
Nia:*holds his hand a pulls him inside*
I feel very uncomfortable with how comfortable I am with him. You know when you meet someone and you instantly click or connected, besides Kia I have not had this feeling in a while.
Nia: do you want-
Tate: you are not putting that on my…head
Nia: *puts it anyway, and started laughing*
Tate: haha very funny
Nia: wait I gotta take a picture of this. *takes a picture of both of them in kitty headband*
Tate: how many pictures have you taken today?
Nia: enough
We did more walking, we eat street food along the way.
Tate: think we should head back now
Nia: yea, I need to use the bathroom first since we’re kind of far away.
*back at the hotel*
Nia: I had soo much fun
Tate: I’m glad you did
Nia: Well, I guess that’s goodnight?
Tate: going to sleep already?
Nia: Well I just thought, you had quite a day and stuff, you might need to rest or something
Tate: oh okay then I’ll see you later
Nia: yeah
Getting to my room I throw myself on the bed and well I feel both good and disgusted since I’ve been walking all day I’m kind of musty
*Tate’s Views*
I meet up with my buddy Rick just to chill by the pool, I’ve been drinking since I got here I’m taking a break from it.
Rick: what have you been up to? you’ve been extremely busy, and I’m not talking about the whole business and conference thing either.
Tate: I met this girl and we just hit it off
Rick: you cannot hit it off with anyone you work with, everyone here is your competition
Tate: You don’t understand, it’s been a while since I’ve felt so comfortable with anyone like that. I went out for a walk, we had junk food, I spent almost six hours talking about random stuff and especially with the whole business thing, it feels refreshing not talking about it.
Rick: okay first of, you hate walking, and second where did you even meet her? most of the chicks I see here are not all that.
Tate: I actually met her on the plane, her friend sat on my seat, I tried to calm her down and this leads to that we end up in the same hotel and I guess there it is.
Rick: so what now?
Tate: What do you mean?
Rick: You’re not the serious in the relationship type, what you planning on doing just smash and pass?
Tate: not this time, the girl got cheated on by he fiance, I’m not going to be that much of a douche.
Rick: You still didn’t say what you are going to do?
Tate: I don’t know
Rick: so you’re not messing with her, but you also don’t want to get serious with her, yeah that explains nothing.
Tate:*sigh*
Rick: why don’t you call her down here
Tate: I don’t have her number
Rick: Why not?
Tate: I just lose it whenever she’s around
Rick: do you even know her name?
Tate: yes, of course-
Nia:  you know I thought you would be sleeping by now
Tate: Nia, I guess I should say the same about you
Kia: hello again
Tate: Hey, what are you guys doing down here?
Kia: well it’s a wonderful night I don’t see why not
Rick:*ahem*
Tate: oh Right, this is my friend Ricky. Ricky this is Kia and Nia
Rick: are you guys twins or something?
Kia: no, My name is Kiara her name is Nia it spells N-I-A pronounce N-A-Y-A, and I’m a year older-
Nia: anyway, we’re just going to go to the pool
Rick: Mind if we come along?
Tate: Dude
Rick: what? do you know how hard it is just sitting here with just you?
Tate: if it’s okay with you guys
Kia: sure why not
So we’re sitting here, Ricky and Kia are going at it. Nia just sitting here zoning out, I’m guessing she’s not that much of a talker either.
Tate: well what do you think Nia?
Nia: about what?
Tate: the whole thing.
Nia: Well I think the whole thing is base on the person’s preference whether they want to date an older man or not. Both older and younger man has their fair share of immaturity. The same goes for the women, you might meet a 25-year-old who’s more mature than people who are 5-10 years older than they are, also some people in their 40s still can’t get their acts together. I think arguing about that is totally useless. In my opinions, I think it’s just about how you feel about the person, age is just a number.
Tate: Well what do you think sex wise?
Nia: what do you mean? look if it’s what I think you’re talking about, a man’s ego thinking they have to have sex with a woman to prove that they are a man or something.
Tate: and what do you think? do you think that’s true?
Nia: *looks in his eyes* do you think a man has had to have sexual intercourse with a woman to prove how manly he is?
Tate: there are plenty other ways to do that, with just the right touch-
Kia: are you both finish?
Tate:*looks at her smirking*
Nia: I’m done, you?
Tate: not even close.
Kia: good, Nia ready to get out of the water?
Nia: yeah
Rick: Where are you guys going?
Nia: I’m going to change and go get some fresh air. *both walk away*
Rick: okay I see why you like her, and I also see why you can’t be with her
Tate: *gets out of the water*
Rick: You going after her?
Tate: yup
Rick: YO Tate, you never listens to me
after changing I found her in the elevator looking as perfect as it gets.
Tate: You look nice
Nia: thank you, you don’t look too bad yourself
Tate: thanks, so where are you heading?
Nia: well the sky is clear, I think it’s the perfect time to check out the beach across the street
Tate: Mind if I join you?
Nia: sure
*at the beach*
Nia: This feels nice
Tate: It does
Nia: I wish I could stay here forever
Tate: Don’t wanna go home?
Nia: more like what’s waiting for me back home.
Tate: trouble with the fam?
Nia: The fam, his family, my job, if I still have one.
Tate: sounds like a lot
Nia: I know. Just the thought of going home tomorrow drives me crazy
Tate: You’re going home tomorrow?
Nia: yes
Tate: why?
Nia: Well some of us are not big businessman, I have to go back home to make sure I still have a job, if not I can’t max out my card. as much as I want to stay here forever, I have to go back home and be an adult.
Tate: what about your parents?
Nia: I moved out of my parents'’ house to be an adult, I’m not going to ask them for help *sigh* I don’t want to talk about that.
Tate: anything I can do to help?
Nia: we can stop talking about me.
Tate: fair enough
Nia: what about you when you go home?
Tate: well my business is meetings are over, so I’m just going to hang around for a bit. you should stick around a to
Nia: did you hear anything I just said?
Tate: loud and clear.
Nia: since today is the last day I’m going to see you, wanna tell me a bit more about yourself, like your full name or something.
Tate: Well My full name is Larenz Tate, I’m a businessman, I don’t have a girlfriend or a wife. I love to have fun, and that’s about it.
Nia: Larenz Tate
Tate: yes
Nia: nice name
Tate: Thank you
Nia: Well I should go pack
Tate: You’re really leaving me?
Nia: I did not come with you, and besides Kia can’t  go home by herself
Tate: then she can stay with us
Nia: us?
Tate: Look, I know all of this is sudden, but would you go on a date with me?
Nia: what?
Tate: I’m asking you on a date
Nia: Look, you’re a nice guy, nicest I’ve met in a while, but I just don’t think-
Tate: don’t think just say yes. Look this is strange for me I have not asked a girl out in almost a decade
Nia: cause you’re a psycho?
Tate: *laughs* no, I don’t like women who are too forward and that’s all I’ve been getting over the past decade, women these days are just too focus on useless stuff like a title or the whole social media thing
Nia: what makes you think I’m not like that?
Tate: where is your cell phone?
Nia: In my pocket, why?
Tate: you haven’t taken it out since you’ve been out here, and we’ve been here for almost an hour and you haven’t checked your phone. we went out earlier not once did you check any social media app, you just enjoy doing outdoor stuff.
Nia: how do you know I’m not some silent killer?
Tate: this has been the best weekend I’ve had in years, but you know what I guess I’ll try to satisfy with that.
Nia: does this guilt card work on every female?
Tate: only the one who turns me down, is it working?
Nia: no not working, I have to go pack *start walking away in then stops* by the way, I didn’t say no
Tate: *smile*
Nia: you coming?
Tate: yeah
*walking back*
Tate: you really don’t want to stay an extra two days? If it’s about the money, I can pay for you both to stay.
Nia: the irresponsible we want to, but the responsible me, have a lot of things to settle back home.
Tate: and about the date?
Nia: are you stalling so I wouldn’t go back inside?
Tate: Maybe
Nia:*smiles*  fine I’m going to sit here a bit longer, but if I miss my flight, you’re gonna have to deal with a very angry Kia.
Tate: I’ll gladly take the fall for it. You know it’s kind of chilly out, we should go back to the hotel and watch a few movies.
Nia: Okay, wait didn’t you want to stay out here?
Tate: Well, since you say okay to stay out, I figure I should put the time to better use.
Nia: wow, you’re sharp
Tate: thank you
*hotel*
Nia: I’m going to check on Kia I’ll see you in a bit.
Tate: okay, I’ll go set things up on my computer.
*Meanwhile*
*knocks on Kia’s door*
Kia: Hey you good?
Nia: yeah, did I wake you?
Kia: no, I was just watching something. How was the beach?
Nia: interesting
Kia: *confuse*
Nia: what do think about Tate?
Kia: what do you mean?
Nia: what do you think about him? As a person
Kia: He seems like a pretty good guy, from what I’ve seen. I didn’t talk to him a lot I can’t really tell. He’s good-looking, smart, and from what I’ve seen very successful, Why?
Nia: he wants us to stay another two days, and that he’d pay
Kia: hell yeah…. wait what did you say?
Nia: I said no, I need to go home and settle a few things.
Kia: Nia sweety there isn’t much to settle, from the look of it we’re both fired, we left three days ago without requesting the days off, going home now isn’t going to change anything, besides, don’t you have the money for you wedding saved up?
Nia: yes, but I can’t use it
Kia: yes you can, are you going to marry him when you go back?
Nia: of course not
Kia: there you have it, used that money to pay all the bills that you can for the next month, and besides you’ll find a job before you run out of money. We still have one more paycheck.
Nia: I’m not sure what’s crazier, the fact that you said that or just the thought of me considering it.
Kia: relax, our parents will probably kill us anyway.
Nia: are you sure?
Kia: yes, the main thing was for you to come here and have fun.
Nia: weren’t you supposed to be entertaining me?
Kia: yeah I’m glad he beat me to it, you know I hate walking. But if he’s paying, I can use two more nights on this bed.
Nia: you mean days? Cause you don’t really get out of this room.
Kia: where are you going now?
Nia: Well he wants to watch a movie, so I was checking on you before I go.
Kia: Okay be careful
Nia: I will
*nate*
I’m beginning to think that she stood me up, it’s been almost an hour-
*knocks on his door*
Tate: I thought you stood me up
Nia: no, I was talking to Kia
Tate: Oh, did you asked her about the staying two extra days?
Nia: yeah, I’m upset that she’s okay with it
Tate: two against one, majority rules
Nia: so what are we watching?
Tate: I’m not sure, I was waiting for you.
Nia: Okay let’s see what you got, you have Netflix?
Tate: yeah, but I don’t really use it as much.
Nia: are you kidding? Netflix is the go to when you want to just binge. You know Friday Kia stays overnight on Saturday morning we would spend the whole day just eat and binge on some stupid shows,
Tate: that sound fun
Nia: you look a bit tense you should relax sometimes. Get out of your tight suits, wear some sweatpants and breath.
Tate: I will keep that in mind
Nia: you should, we should watch Moana
Tate: Moana? what’s that?
Nia: you don’t know what Moana is? I’m ashamed of you that’s my shit, I guess that what we’re watching
Tate: we’re gonna watch cartoon?
Nia: not just cartoon, high-quality cartoon. huddle up.
So in all, we watched Moana, Mulan, we watched animations all night.
*Next morning*
Nia’s still sleeping, in the meantime, I’m going to get some work done on the balcony.
*hour later*
Nia:*walks out and sit* You working?
Tate: No, I was just waiting for you to wake up *looking at his computer*
Nia: you still looking at the computer
Tate: I’m sorry, now you have my 100% attention *puts the computer to the side* what would you like to do? you know breakfast sounds good.
Nia: sounds good to me
We had breakfast talk and more talking.
Nia: I guess I should go take a shower.
Tate: don’t wanna take one here?
Nia: I’d rather take one in my room, thanks for the offer though.
Tate: okay, so I’ll see you in a bit
Nia: yeah, see you
I am doing my best holding so many things in.
*3hours later*
*Nia’s views*
Kia: does shopping count in this two days deal?
Nia: I don’t know, you should ask him that yourself
Kia: maybe I will, so what movie did you guys watch?
Nia: well we watched Mulan, Moana and I think something else.
Kia: you get him to watch animations?
Nia: yup
Kia: you couldn’t get your fiance to watch a regular movie
Nia: I know right, but he seems like a workaholic
Kia: really?
Nia: I found him working this morning
Kia: well to be able to afford all of this, he has to work
Nia: he’s probably waiting for me, I said I’d be out in a bit almost four hours ago.
Kia: why are you still here?
Nia: I don’t know
Kia: you stalling
Nia: no, it’s just whenever I’m around him, I feel fuzzy inside.
Kia: you mean horny?
Nia: you don’t have to say it like that
Kia: What? you haven’t had sex in like 8 months.
Nia: 6months Kiara
Kia: as if it makes a difference. I read that it is great to have sex regularly it’s good for the brain.
Nia: I’m just going to leave
Kia: Pshh I’m coming with you
I’m going to lose my mind.
*moments later*
Nia: I am so sorry
Kia: it’s not her fault we were talking about sex
Nia: KIARA!
Tate: *smirk*
Kia: So since we’re staying two extra days for you, well more like her than me, but does the package include shopping?
Nia: Kia?
Kia: what? I said I would ask, and you said go ahead
Nia: yes, I didn’t think you’d actually ask him *walks away*
Kia: where are you going?
Nia: to get a damn drink
Kia: well is that a yes or no?
Tate: whatever you want, it’s on me just name it.
Kia: sweet, well you two have fun.
Tate: where are you going?
Kia: I’m going to get ready to go shopping
Tate: you’re not coming with us?
Kia: and be the third wheel? no thank you
Tate: Okay, when you finish just ask for a guy name Ruben at the front desk
Kia: Okay
Tate:*starts walking away*
Kai: hey
Tate: yeah
Kai: you know I’m gonna have to threat you at some point of the day right
Tate: It’s expected from a best friend
Kai: glad you know that
*bar*
Tate: You’re not much of a drinker are you?
Nia: why’d you say that?
Tate: no lipgloss around the glass, you got it cause your friend was getting on your nerves but still can’t get yourself to do it.
Nia: do I look that predictable?
Tate: not really predictable, just an easy guess.
Nia: Well, I’m sorry about her, now, and for the rest of tomorrow.
Tate: it’s okay, we all have one friend like that.
Nia: do you only wear suits?
Tate: you don’t like it?
Nia: it’s just a bit- *looks at herself wearing jeans and a shirt* should I go change?
Tate: no no no you look perfect like that
Nia: you sure, I mean you’re wearing a suit and I’m wearing jeans and a t-shirt
Tate: are you comfortable?
Kia: yes but-
Tate: then that’s all that matter, shall we?
Nia: where are we going?
Tate: I’m not sure where, but I rented us a car
Nia: okay
Tate: okay
*25minutes later beachside restaurant*
Tate: you okay?
Nia: yeah, why?
Tate: you’ve been really quiet
Nia: I’m not really much a talker actually, I’m more of an ask question and I’ll answer
Tate: what are your favorite things to do?
Nia: I love listening to music, read, binge on movies.
Tate: I was expecting shopping in that list.
Nia: I do that.. sometimes
Tate: sometimes?
Nia: yeah
Tate: what about your fiance?
Nia: ex-fiance, and what about him?
Tate: didn’t he ever take you out?
Nia: sometimes
Tate: okay
Nia: What about you?
Tate: what about me?
Nia: your last time with a woman?
Tate: last night, with you
Nia: I meant in an intimate way
Tate: honestly?
Nia: yes
Tate: the night before and the morning before I came here
Nia: oh
Tate: yup
Nia: I see
Tate: what about yourself?
Nia: 6 months
Tate: *whistles* you sure you had a fiance? or did you guys make some sort of pack or something?
Nia: No, he was too busy with his assistant
Tate: see that’s why I don’t always  have assistants
Nia: why? because you don’t have self-control?
Tate: I have self-control, I know how to keep my thing in my pants. I just haven’t had the need to do so in a while.
Nia: why’s that?
Tate: because I haven’t been in a relationship in a while, I just don’t see the point in doing so.
Nia: I see
Tate: are you upset?
Nia: why’d you say that?
Tate: well you don’t look too happy
Nia: I’m fine
Tate: the universal word of saying you’re not okay.
Nia: I’m okay, you know maybe we should head back at to the hotel.
Tate: already?
Nia: I think I lost my appetite, I’m going to use the bathroom.
Tate: okay, I’ll clear things here and wait in the car.
Nia: okay
*back at the hotel*
*Tate’s views*
So She’s mad, I’m not really sure what I said that upsets her, but the whole drive back she did not say one word.
Tate: Hey are you sure you’re alright?
Nia: I think I need to reset
Tate: reset?
Nia: Yeah, as in taking a nap
Tate: you call that reset?
Nia: yes, kind of like starting the day over
Tate: Will I be able to see you later?
Nia: we’ll see depend on what time I wake up
Tate: well I hope to see you later.
*her room*
Kia: so how was it?
Nia: straight
Kia: okay, why you look so miserable, and back so soon?
Nia: well we were talking and I didn’t like what I heard
Kia: what were you guys talking about?
Nia: I asked him when was the last time he was intimate with anyone?
Kia: and?
Nia: he said the night before, and the morning before he got on the plane
Kia: Okay, so what?
Nia: I don’t know I guess, I just didn’t like that
Kia: you asked him a question, he answered and you got mad. and besides, what does that have to do with you? you met him afterward. The guy is good looking, successful who wouldn’t throw themselves at him? at least he’s being honest about it. look You got cheated on, you have every right to be cautious, or annoying asking stupid questions
Nia: you think that was a stupid question?
Kia: I’m not saying that the question was stupid, being mad about the answer you got was stupid. You’re not his girlfriend, why are you acting like he cheated on you?
Nia: Okay I need to take a nap
Kia: you kicking me out?
Nia: yeah
Kia: just letting you know you’re being very immature right now
Nia: thanks, I’ll go sleep it off.
*meanwhile Tate*
Sitting in the bar with Rick, Kia walks in, I’m really not sure what’s up with her and this bar.
Rick: so where are you going with this?
Tate: with what?
Rick: Nia, what’s going on? This vacation is temporary
Tate: and?
Rick: what about when you go back home?
Tate: what about it?
Rick: come on don’t  play stupid with me, are you going to look for her when we go back? What if she doesn’t want to see You? What if she has a boyfriend already?
Tate: her fiance cheated
Rick: so you’re the white knight?  Do you like her?
Tate:…
Rick: Wow, so soon?
Tate: I don’t know man
Rick: T you have two girls for every day of the week, you think you’ll be able to give that up for just one?
Tate: you never know, it might work out
Rick: and if it doesn’t?
Tate: life goes on. I rather give it a shot than wondering what if.
Rick: You know that’s not going to be easy right?
Tate: you don’t have to tell me, I already see how jealous she is. *smile* it’s cute though.
After talking to Rick, I went back to the room to do some work.
*hours later*
Getting out of the bathroom I hear a knock on my door. I ordered room service cause I am starving, they come really fast.
Tate: wow that was really fast I was expecting-*opens the door to see her* Nia? What are you doing here?
Nia: bad timing? *seeing him wrap in a towel*
Tate: uh no, I thought you were room service
Nia: disappointed?
Tate: of course not, come in
Nia: thanks
Tate: how was your nap?
Nia: it was okay.
Tate: you feeling better now?
Nia: look I come to apologize for earlier, I’m sorry.
Tate: what are you sorry for?
Nia: I don’t know if I acted rude or anything I’m sorry. That’s all I came to say.
Tate: Do you want to have dinner with me?
Nia: Nah, Kia bought me a book *holds up the book*, so I’m going on the rooftop with a drink
Tate: drink?
Nia: without alcohol
Tate: why don’t you read in here?
Nia: I don’t like being disturbed when I’m reading?
Tate: I promise I won’t talk to you
Nia: why?
Tate: why what?
Nia: why do you want me to stay here?
Tate: I want to look at you
Nia: are you always this honest?
Tate: is it a problem? is that why you were upset earlier today? because I was being honest about the last time I had sex? you were being honest with me, I didn’t see the need to lie to you.
Nia: How many are there
Tate: women?
Nia: yes
Tate: are you gonna go back to take a nap?
Nia: you going to tell me or no?
Tate: more than I would like to tell you the truth.
Nia: Why don’t you just pick one out of the bunch?
Tate: picking one isn’t as easy as it sounds
Nia: why’s that?
Tate: in my opinion, I think you have to find the right person to balance it all out. Getting out means the person must not be judgmental about my past life. she has to accept me just as I am, it’s not going to be easy either. Just like flying here for business meetings, there’s plenty of that, except if I had a woman, I’d fly back home the same night I was done with my business.
Nia: what about the ones you have back home?
Tate: I don’t have any, emotional connections with them so their happiness isn’t really my concern.
Nia: that sounds a little harsh
Tate: It’s not like they care about me anyway, they’re only in it for the money anyway, and I’m not the only they sleep with, we sleep together, they get pay well no strings attached.
Nia:…
Tate: Nothing? no comments?
Nia: well… uh
Tate: I’m sure you have more to say.
Nia: I thought that too, but I guess not.
Tate: I’m not looking for that sympathy look
Nia: why are you telling me all of this?
Tate: I don’t want you to judge me, and you asked. *sigh* all this honesty shit is tiresome now I need a drink
Nia: I’m sorry
Tate: there’s nothing to be sorry about, I just never have to explain myself to anyone in a while
Nia: In a while?
Tate: you know, you can have a seat right?
Nia: hum *looks at the book*
Tate: come on
Nia: okay *sits on the side of the bed* what did you mean by in a while?
Tate: Well I wasn’t always single.
Nia: I’m not surprise
Tate: why’s that?
Nia: you’re pretty good looking
Tate: thank you, but yeah I had a girlfriend
Nia: what happened?
Tate: Well, my work got the best of me. Like they say, more money more problem.
Nia: the money got into your head?
Tate: Yeah, the money, women, alcohol, the job. she left me
Nia: You missed her?
Tate: I used to
Nia: used to?
Tate: yeah, she’s married now, I let go.
Nia: any favorite memories?
Tate: cooking
Nia: cooking?
Tate: yeah, she loves to cook. I planned to send her to cooking school once my business takes off, but that never happened.
Nia: That sucks
Tate: Not really, I look at it as a lesson for the next time I’ll know better
Nia: Well I really do hope you treat your next little lady better in the future.
Tate: yeah, I hope she won’t judge me either.
Nia: Well, If you pour all of this out and you get judged well she won’t really suits you.
Tate: what about you?
Nia: Me? what about me?
Tate: would you date me after hearing all of this?
Nia: I should go get a drink *walks to the door*
Tate: Nia, you get what I’m trying to say right?
Nia: Tate listen, I’m glad that you feel comfortable and all but-
Tate: I know, this is all too soon, I mean you don’t know me I don’t know you, we met on an airplane, to tell you the truth, I don’t remember the last time I get this comfortable with anyone to spill out my gut like that, I know it’s been 5 days, but-
Nia: four days
Tate: all it takes is just one look-
Nia: you know, now I can use a drink
Tate: you don’t even drink
Nia: I’m going to get juice *walks out*
*laughs* she’s going to drink juice. note to self, no alcohol
*Nia’s views*
I can’t drink alcohol but I can use some useless advice right now
*knocking on Kia’s door*
Nia: I know you’re not sleeping *knocks on the door *
Kia: *opens the door* Nia I hope you have a good reason to be knocking on my door
Nia: can I come in?
Kia: not really a good idea
Nia: you have someone with you?
Kia: yes
Nia: oh okay
Kia: wait, what’s up?
Nia: nothing
Kia: Nia if you feel the same way go for it, unexpected things happen in life all the time, you don’t have anyone to answer to.
Nia: How did you-?
Kia: I know you I’m your best friend, maybe when you go back home you’ll have at least one good thing to look forward to. I know how miserable you’re going to be when we go back home, you can’t start your 30th years of life miserable, that’s not going to happen. maybe it won’t work, but you never know if you don’t try, and trust me I know it’s only been 5 days but-
Nia: It’s been four days, can’t you guys count? who are you sleeping with anyway?
Kia: do you really want to know?
Nia: no
This is all too much for me, I’m going to call it a day.
*Next day*
waking up the next day, I spend the entire time on my bed in my room, and also the next day didn’t really feel the need to get out of the room.
*next day*
Finally going back home it feels like the longest five days of my life, now time to go back to reality. Packed my stuff, ready to leave.
*downstairs*
Kia: I hope she’s not overslept
Rick: try calling her
Kia: been doing that since yesterday, she didn’t even bother to get out of her room or answer any of the messages that I sent her.
Nia:*walks in* her you ready to go?
Kia: Okay, first of all, good morning to you too, and yes we’ve been waiting for you. what the hell happened anyway?
Nia: what are you talking about?
Kia: you went MIA yesterday, I called you and you never answered your phone.
Nia: oh, I slept the whole day, well half of it. The other half I had to mentally prepare myself for going home
Kia: did you think about what I told you?
Nia: yes, and?
Kia: you’ll be alright
Nia: I know, come on
Kia: okay, I think we should ride back to the airport with them since we’re all going to the same place anyway, but if you don’t want to, you and I can take a cab.
Nia: It’s fine, I’m just going to get a bagel and then we can head out.
Kia: Okay, I’ll take your stuff to the car.
Nia: thank you
*minutes later*
Tate: Nia
Nia: what are you doing here?
Tate: I want to apologize
Nia: for what?
Tate: If tell you all those things made you uncomfortable, I’m really sorry. it’s just been a while since I was this comfortable talking to anyone about something other than business, if I made you uncomfortable I’m sorry *walks away*
Nia: wait *walks towards him* I don’t know how to cook that well, I can’t drink alcohol, I don’t know anything about business math wasn’t my thing in school. I don’t wear fancy clothes, I’m not much of a party person, I’d rather stay home and just literally do nothing, I don’t like to ask for help no matter how bad I need it. Whatever this is, if it’s even something…I don’t want to rush it.
Tate: *smile* okay we can take all the times we need
Nia: okay let’s go *walks back out to the car*
Tate: you forget your breakfast. *chuckles*
*in the car*
Kia: where’s the bagel?
Nia: what bagel?
Kia: the one you went for?
Nia: oh, right I forgot-
Tate: I got it, *hands her the bag* here
Nia: thank you
We got to the airport get settle, check our things and now we’re up high. For some reason, he weasels his way next to me again. I’m going to make the time go by fast the only way I can sleep.
*later*
Tate: you missed lunch
Nia: it’s okay, I probably wouldn’t like it anyway. Are we there yet?
Tate: in a few
Nia: good, I’m ready to go reconnect with my bed.
Tate: Lucky you, I’m just going to change, and head to my office.
Nia: sucks
Tate: I know.
Plane lands shortly afterward. Of course, he has his fancy driver waiting for him.
Tate: Well it was fun, back to reality now?
Nia: yup
Kia: it was really fun..shopping with your card Tate
Nia: Kiara just go get the car
Kia: why do I have to go?
Nia: you parked it
Kia: oh right, I’ll be back
Tate: so
Nia: so
Tate: when will I be able to see you?  Any plans for this week?
Nia: Well, tomorrow I’m going to check to see if I still have a job fingers crossed, and maybe do some spring cleaning.
Tate: we’re in October?
Nia: fall cleaning and I guess life goes back to normal, what about you?
Tate: work, work, more work, sleep, back to work again.
Nia: what do you do for fun? Do not say work
Tate: *laughs*
Nia: besides on women, what else you spend money on?
Tate: cars, I buy houses and put them for rent
Nia: are you happy with it that way?
Tate: it’s alright
Kia: sooo
Nia: Kia where is the car?
Kia: funny story
Nia: save it for later, where’s the car?
Kia: I think they might’ve towed the car
Nia: say what now?
Kia: well I parked it over there, and it now it’s not there
Nia: isn’t this a handicapped spot?
Kia: there was no sign when I parked it
Nia: you know, maybe we should go back to the hotel
Kia: Nia-
Nia: I’m taking a cab home
Kia: you’re just going to leave me here?
Nia: what do you want me to do? I didn’t drive, from the look of it, I should’ve.
Kia: Hey can you give us a ride?
Tate: sure
Nia: no, give her a ride to get her car. I’m ready to go home. Thank you and it was very nice to meet you. *walks away*
Kia: she really left me…
