Underway/Undertale AU
Underway is an alternate universe (AU) of Undertale, centered around Chara, the first human to fall into the Underground. After a series of cruel experiments on her soul conducted by Gaster, she loses her memory and is no longer the person she once was. Chara’s soul becomes unstable, and her reality begins to distort.
She ends up in the Antivoid, where she meets Ink, but soon becomes the target of Error, who sees her as an anomaly. During her escape, Chara discovers within herself the power of Creation — a rare aspect of Determination that allows her to build rather than destroy.
Now, as she travels through alternate timelines, she searches for answers, a place where she belongs, and a chance to restore what was lost. Her journey is a battle between who she used to be and who she has become. Meanwhile, Sans — the only one who still senses that she’s alive — realizes after 14 genocidal timelines caused by the Player that he needs Chara to stop the coming disaster.
