Going for a Merman with this next one. Gonna also be a while however, we’re working on him while waiting to hear back about a commission so.... #sketch #merman Based on an image found on Pinterest. As soon as I discover the artist I will provide the name for my source of inspiration. https://www.instagram.com/p/BoNC120gtws/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1a8wrgrrf4224

Look what I found at work today!! I haven’t seen a Luna Moth in a very long time and am pleased with how good of a shape this one is in. Now to figure out how to cast it in resin. https://www.instagram.com/p/BnE9u3pgRJh/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=7veu7nnu7ez7

I’m doing that thing where I basically become a cranky crow; someone who wants to be creative but is working two part time jobs and naps in their car because gas is expensive and this adulting thing is about as half as bad as adding the alphabet to mathematical equations. I’m constantly wondering if I’ll ever be able to truly articulate how much my brain can’t comprehend how this is living. Things are moving in a positive direction don’t get me wrong but there should be  more to life than just going to work, sleeping when I can, barely getting by, and trying to get finances in order to be able to move my partner down here and support both of us. Or is that asking for too much? I’m not at all against working for what I need and want in life. In fact it’s how I was raised and it’s what I will teach my children if and when I have any. Mind you, yes my situation is not as terrible or heartbreaking as someone else’s circumstances. I not only understand, but also respect that.  But damn, some days I’m awed by the fact I’m still standing.

So, I might have a thing...
Begrudgingly I have begun the continuously vicious cycle of applying for job opportunities again. It’s really hard to keep trying to find something remotely in your area of interest and be found lacking because you aren’t half of what employers are looking for. I mean, I’ve found absolutely fabulous jobs but, they all require things I don’t have right now. Like for instance, a degree in graphics design, or three plus years teaching and the paperwork to prove you can teach other people’s kids, the list continues on longer than a standard college final research essay.
Anyway, on a whim I applied for an internship with an informal cover letter written on the spot and assumed like all of the other jobs I’ve applied to in the past year that I’d never hear anything back. Guess who got a call the next day? This chick, and I anime fangirled so hard I scared my dog. Of course after I calmed down enough to notate the info from the voicemail that was left on my end I called this genie of a woman back. She asked a few questions and that in turned became a conversation about my intentions, which ended up being what this company does anyway if their interns are a good fit.
Guys, I have an interview at 2pm on Tuesday with Painting with a Twist. I cannot begin to describe to you how psyched I am about this. I know that it’s a little cheesy, being excited about the possibilities of an unpaid internship. But if you have ever, ever, tried for a really long time to just get something, anything, that could put you in the direction you want to go in life... then you understand how much that phone call meant to me.
So, now I’m going through the years of artwork I’ve horded from high school and college. I am in the process of picking out the best representations of painting and drawing skills I had to represent what I am capable of. Cause between you and me, I haven’t done much in the last ... oh, maybe three years. That is a big stretch of time to not have completed an art piece. I’ll most likely bring my most recent sketchbook with me because why not, right? along with a digital portfolio of about ten to twelve of my strongest paintings and drawing (incomplete or otherwise). I did take another look at the artwork the company normally does with clients and granted mine look nothing like them, but, at least I’m taking this opportunity and running with it as far as I can towards the infamous cliff of adulthood. I just really hope this is a hang glider and not an umbrella.

Super late update
It didn’t work out. But I am still working on art projects and thinking about doing my own “make art and sip beverages” get togethers. I have a lot of art supplies to get rid of and who better to help than my friends and the friends of my parents :)
