Dust!Sans drabble, DR Isekai au.
He thinks of you.
Tumblr media
There wasn’t much that Sans- no, Dust, he was Dust now- wanted. Scratch that, there was a lot that he wanted but considering his position, it was understandable that it just simply wasn’t happening.
But looking across Classics yard, right at the alternate version of you doing yard work, he yearned. It had been many lifetimes over since he had last seen you, willingly letting you go back through the portal so you could go home, but there was still a thread of your soul entwined with his own. Sometimes, late at night, he could swear that he felt something along your thread.
There wasn’t much that Dust wanted, but there was so much that he missed.

I don't think I'm ever going to get the energy to write the whole fic out, so here is the main plotline for the Isekai into Deltarune I came up with.
art included
Tumblr media
Main Storyline:
MC wakes up in Hometown and must find a way to survive until she can convince sans to help her find a way back home. Sans has trouble believing her until she mentions Dr. Gaster, who he used to work for until he went nuts and disappeared, leading to his LAB being shut down and everyone being laid off. MC shows him what she believes is Gasters bunker but admits she doesn't know for certain, and neither knows how to open it.
Sans eventually asks her to tell him what she knows, and MC proceeds to word vomit anything she thinks might be useful. Afterwards, after Sans mulls over everything he's been told and what he can gather from context, he agrees to try and figure out how to get her back home if she can work the shop while he does. At some point Sans and MC breaks into Gasters bunker and discovers the research he was doing on The Void and The Dark World, and Sans' disappears in his research.
Two weeks of MC running the grocery store and Sans' disappearing in his research goes by and Papyrus gets fed up and demands that she do something about it. Agreeing, she and Papyrus go down to the bunker to pull him out and make him rest. This acts as a catalyst for Sans finally burning out from non-stop research, and he feels guilty about it, and admits as much to MC. MC tells him not to worry about it, that the research isn't going anywhere. He passes out shortly after that, and MC debates on whether or not she wants to tell him how she thinks she arrived to hometown. In the end, she decides not to, not wanting to worry Sans' about what she could be returning to.
The next day, the two hang out in his bedroom while there's a nasty storm raging outside, and Sans' goes over what he has learned so far, and that he thinks he's getting close to figuring out how to send her home, he just needs to start making schematics for a portal, and then goes on a small tangent on Dark Fountains and how he believes he can harness one to create a tunnel through the void to send her back to her home universe. He then goes on to demonstrate how he believes a Dark Fountain just as the power goes out, leading him to accidentally creating a real dark fountain.
The two fall into the Dark World based on his bedroom, which is heavily spaced themed, and very quickly MC is snatched up by the "Boss", Astroleer, who is an astronomy wizard made out of wispy dark matter. He's very excited to have MC, and treats her more like a royal guest than a prisoner, reflecting that Sans' might like her more than he's willing to let on. Sans' needs to make his way through Outer Rim to the center where Astroleer's astronomy tower is located in order to rescue her and leave the dark world. Sans' successfully rescues her from Astroleer's tea party and the two make it back through outer rim to the Light world just as the storm begins to calm down and the power comes back on.
The two become closer after their little adventure and Sans' softens towards MC, and decides to tell her how he feels about her. MC reciprocates but expresses concern about growing closer now that Sans has an idea on how to send her back. He tells her that the machine is going to take a while to build, and there's nothing stopping them from being very good friends with benefits while he's building it. Montage of Sans building the machine broken up by them making out in the bunker, at some point Sans leaves a mating bite at the curve of her neck.
Sans finally finishes the machine, and the two stare at it while it activates. They say goodbye, and MC walks through.
Then the world resets.
And Sans remembers.
Tumblr media
Subplots:
Gaster shows up around MC when its really dark and pseudo adopts her
Papyrus works as the mascot at ICE-E'S and absolutely hates it but also loves it at the same time
MC giving Asgore a hard time about his free pickles but makes a sign about free pickle friday's
MC witnessing the Divorce Drama between Asgore and Toriel and downing an entire bucket of popcorn while they argue at the grocery store
Tumblr media
Art:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Astroleer, MC ref, Sans' dark world outfit, Sans and MC landing in Outer Rim
Tumblr media
Notes:
I had an idea that this was a prequel leading into Dusts' timeline and that they would meet again in the future when the different au's converged. From his POV it would be a slice of life trying to win her heart, from her POV its an anti-harem fic where the other variants don't like her very much because of some BS their human roommate keeps telling them about her, and also Dust likes her so she must be sketchy.
Shenanigans ensue.

I still have dreams about turning into a wolf and running.
I’m a few years from 30 and I still dream about when I was sixteen years old, and I would sneak down the old creaky wooden stairs in my grandmas house and slip out the back door, barefoot and still in my cotton night dress, and midway between the backyard and where the woods got dense, I would shift.
One of the things I missed the most was chasing the deer. Sometimes I have to catch myself when one would show up on the TV, and remind myself that it wasn’t real, that I would break my only TV running into it. Honestly, I couldn’t think of anything more embarrassing.
Sometimes, early in the morning, looking at the city line from my apartment, I wonder when I lost the whimsy.
Sometimes I think about moving back.

Are You Satisfied with Your Choices?
Summary:
After being found washed up on a river bank after a failed suicide attempt, you find yourself in Hometown and need to find a way to survive in this new world, or find a way to get back to your original one. Luckily the skeleton who had found you may just be able to solve your problem. But the question is, do you truly want him to?

There was something awful about waking up after jumping off a bridge. The bitter feeling of failure, relief, and the dull ache in your ribs that you hadn’t felt since you were a kid, sans the fun. Even though you knew you should pull yourself off the bank and out of the river, you couldn’t muster the energy, thinking back to the summer you were thirteen. Or maybe fourteen. That summer spent with your cousins was easily one of the best, and worst summers you ever had.
The river lapping at your legs reminded you of the one your mother had driven you down to that year. It was the first vacation that you had spent with your cousins. You missed them, strangely enough considering how they had treated you growing up, but you guessed you always were a little bit of an odd duck out. In the end, it didn’t matter if the only one you got along with never liked you when the others were around, you hadn’t seen any of them since.
You thought of your mom, as you did your best to open your eyes at the sound of a car pulling up, crunching gravel beneath its tires, and your brother. Your whole family really, now that you were thinking of that stupid water park. It wasn’t their fault that you had pulled away so aggressively. Deep down, you knew that there was something wrong with your brain. You had intense emotional episodes where you couldn’t think, all you could do was just feel, and it left you lashing out at the people closest to you.
And maybe that was why you had jumped. You just wanted to stop feeling so much all the time.
And now here you were, water logged and numb, being pulled off the river bank by a stranger and loaded into their car. You let out a long, deep sigh as the heater was turned on, and you gently drifted off, the last thing you heard was sirens being turned on.
A monster, your broken mind helpfully supplied as you looked at the familiar skeleton sleeping in the chair next to your hospital bed.
Sans to be more specific.
You must have truly lost your mind if you thought you were looking at Sans the skeleton sleeping in a hospital chair in your hospital room. He can’t be real , you thought to yourself, watching as his shoulders move in a mimicry of breathing. A hallucination, you bargained, but you felt like if he was a hallucination, then you wouldn’t be questioning if he was actually here. You had never questioned the winged spiders you used to see, because you knew they were real to you even if they weren’t real to anyone else.
Maybe you did it, a smaller voice deep in the back of your mind whispered, maybe you’re dead, maybe this is just…
punishment.
“Hello!” a voice at the door chirped out, “So happy to see that you’re awake. You had a little tumble in the river, we weren’t sure if you were going to make it. My practice on humans is… a little lacking. We don’t get many of you around here.”
They tapped a finger to their chin, “Well, there is Toriel’s kid, Kris, but they don’t come in here much to get treated.”
“Well, its whatever. Its good to see you awake anyhow. I’m sure your friend will be happy, well, when he wakes up anyways. You got a good one, he’s been coming in here every day since he dropped you off.”
Your brain froze at that.
Friend? Just what did he tell them?
“I, uh-” you blanked, and stared at the nurse, who seemed patient, “Where am I?”
Their face seemed to twist into a smile, at least you hoped it was a smile, “Welcome to Hometown! I'll have a doctor come in and check you over shortly. I hope you enjoy your stay!"

I may have gone a little overboard with the MCs dark world outfit........ I wanted a celestial theme. I was originally thinking about a 60's cartoon astronaut girl inspired outfit and then I started thinking about Marilyn Monroe and whimsy goth.........
Also her pin should be a bit higher but whatever I'm not moving it.
Mostly I wanted Sans to have a reason to look at her like she was the entire night sky.

A loud THUD sent Danny flying out of her chair, swearing up a storm. Her book lay shut halfway across the room on the sanded down wood flooring that she still hasn't gotten around to re-staining. She hauled herself up and dusted her butt off, and looked out the window.
A tiny form sent a shock of alarm straight into her stomach, little wings spread from an unconscious form. Slamming the window open she climbed out of her library room and carefully lifted the little form, inspecting him for any serious injuries. Scars littered his tiny body, just barely hidden by his little blue hoodie.
She didn't often see bitties, she herself had a few on her ranch but they were half feral and didn't like her getting close, but she knew what one in trouble looked like. And the little metal band on his leg smelled a whole lot like trouble.
She held him close to her chest and finagled the window shut, and made her way to her beat up little truck, wondering if she would get a discount at the vets with how often she brought them business.

Chapter one / Word Count: 1,600
Tumblr media
Birdie clutched the large envelope of paperwork and a house deed tightly in her hands as the train slowly pulled to a stop. One of the train conductors, a young rabbit monster, nodded and smiled at her as she gathered her suitcase and traveling bag and anxiously got off the little train.
The train station itself was empty, leading to little more than a dirt road into the town, and a dirt road to her “brand new” farm. She didn’t know if she would get used that.
Hers.
Well. Technically it would be once she spoke to the mayor about the shift in ownership. Birdie still couldn’t wrap her head around why Dorothy had given her the family farm, but grateful for the chance to escape all the same.
Birdie pushed open the rusty little gate and pushed away the absolutely humiliating memory of the disaster of a party that had led to Birdies self-exile. Her face burned in lingering shame at the memory as she observed the outside of the cabin.
It was a quaint little thing, clearly needing repairs in certain spots, one of the stairs leading up to the house missing completely, and she could see where she would need to set pots down inside once it started raining from the holes in the roof. It wasn’t completely unlivable, luckily, and she could easily see the potential in it once all of the repairs were finished.
Idly, she wondered if this was a gift or a punishment, then shook her head and walked inside. As much as a social embarrassment Birdie was, Dorothy had been kind to her, and she knew in her heart that this was just a way to get away from the stress and the staring back in Ebbot.
The cabin was a singular room, with a well loved fireplace that the previous owner had clearly used to cook in. The walls were a mix of stone, wood, and cob, the rafters dusty with cobwebs and what looked like two different rats nests. Light streamed in, catching on the disturbed dust.
Birdie blew out a long sigh, she definitely had her work cut out for her, but at least it was still livable. Walking further into the cabin, she set her bags down and retied her scarf so it was covering her hair to keep it out of her face and clean while she aired out and dusted the cabin. Her skin already felt sticky and gross just from walking in, and it looked like no one had lived here for a very, very long time.
With the first window wrenched open, Birdie felt like she could finally breath.
Birdie lost herself in her work, opening the rest of the windows, no matter how stuck in the frame they were, and propped open the door with a chair that needed a new leg, and began dusting every surface in the room, and somehow still finding the energy to haul water from a tiny river running through the middle of the property to a good sized wash bucket she found hanging on the side of the house, as well as a few other tools she could use to get the yard in order until she could purchase better ones.
She pulled out linens, quilts, and a few blankets out of a small closet and began soaking the linens while she beat the dust and dirt out of the blankets. By mid-day, she had gotten laundry and a good fire going, the smoke coming out of her chimney only added to the sheer joy and whimsy she was feeling. She hadn’t realized just how stressed and stifled she had felt back in Dorothy’s cramped little town house.
Or, more accurately, back with Dorothy.
Birdies smile dropped at the thought of Dorothy, and hung the last bed sheet to dry. She didn’t want to think ill of the woman who had been kind enough to take her into her home after finding her, but Birdies mind had cleared enough to know that Dorothy hadn’t treated her with the best intentions at times. It was even entirely possible that Dorothy had sent her to the farm just to get rid of her. Birdie wondered if Dorothy viewed this as some sort of punishment for Birdie, but she could only see this as a blessing.
There was a knock on the frame of the open front door, jarring her out of her thoughts.
“Helloooooo~?” a woman's voice bleated out.
“Oh- Hi!” Birdie called out to the woman, watching her turn around, “I’m over here!”
The woman walked down the steps and over to the clothesline that Birdie had put up, “Hello dear, we saw the smoke coming from your chimney all the way in town,” As the woman came closer, Birdie could easily recognize her as Toriel from Undertale, or at least one of her variants. Her chest clenched painfully, her fingers going cold from the amount of fear that had flooded her body. “I didn’t realize anyone lived here still. I’m Toriel, I watch over the town.”
“A-ah, yes. It’s a delight to meet you Miss Toriel, I’m Birdie, I just moved in today,” Birdie stared in awe at just how tall the other woman was, “I’d shake your hand, but mine are absolutely filthy right now.”
Toriel gave her a thin smile, “Hard at work cleaning I see.”
Birdie couldn’t help the feeling that this Toriel didn’t like her.
“Ever since I got here.” Birdie said, smiling.
“Hm. As long as I get the updated records for the house, and as long as you don’t cause any trouble, I’m sure we will get along just fine. Don’t work yourself to death little one, this town doesn’t need that kind of trouble.” Toriel turned, clearly done with the conversation and ready to get back to the town. Birdie wasn’t sure what came over her, maybe it was the fact that she already had the paperwork on her, just inside the house in a little junk drawer she had cleaned out, maybe it was because she didn’t want to make her way into town just to meet with Toriel in her office because she gave off the vibes of a disappointed school principle, maybe it was the need to prove herself to someone who clearly couldn’t care less, but she spoke up before Toriel could leave.
“Right, I- um- I have the paperwork right here with me. Let me just… grab that for you.”
Birdie scurried into the cabin, heart beating fast and confused about Toriels cold demeanor towards her. Taking a deep breath, she opened the little drawer and pulled the envelope out and made sure everything was there for Toriel.
The floorboards creaked under Toriels weight, startling Birdie into nearly dropping the envelope. Birdie couldn’t help the rise in anxiety building in her chest, she hadn’t been prepared to have guests in her house so soon, especially not with how Toriel was looking at the rats nests in the rafters.
“You have little friends in your home,” she said, finally looking back down at Birdie after a long moment.
“I wouldn’t exactly call rats friends, but yeah, I suppose so,” Birdie pursed her lips giving the nests a resigned look, avoiding looking at Toriel.
“Not rats,” Toriel disagreed, “Your cabin would smell of rats. Those aren’t rats nests. I’d leave them if I were you. Little friends tend to bring good luck to those who treat them well.”
Birdie didn’t have anything to say to that. If that were true… she could use some good luck right now.
“What do you suggest I do?” She couldn’t stand the thought of leaving something so… dirty in her home, not after all of the hard work she had put in to cleaning it so far.
“Give them a home,” the ‘obviously’ went unsaid as she went through the papers that Birdie handed her, “Thank you for having everything here, this will make your transition into town easier for the both of us,” she tucked the papers underneath her arm and look at Birdie, silently demanding her full attention, “Now, before I forget, I would like to invite you over for a cup of tea to discuss your grant for the farm before the end of the week, and, of course, how you’re going to pay it off.”
Toriel then rattled off her address and walked out the door, leaving Birdie no room to argue.
-
By the time night fell, the sheets had dried and the fire had gone out, and the blankets were clean enough to use for the night. The bed frame had no mattress for it but she wasn’t worried about that, having enough blankets to pile onto it to cushion herself from the hard wooden board. She was going to have to stuff one of her dresses with some of her other clothes to make a makeshift pillow, and she sighed at all of the wrinkles her clothes were going to get, but needs must.
It wasn’t until she had stripped down to her chemise that she realized she had barely eaten a thing all day. Groaning, in despair, she rolled herself into her blankets and made a mental note to set up a fish trap in the stream, as well as a small grocery list. At the very least, it was still early in the growing season and Birdie planned on taking full advantage of it.
Closing her eyes, Birdie completely missed the two glowing red eyes peering down at her from the rafters.

Words: 680
There was something strange about getting shrunk and dragged through to an entirely new universe, besides the obvious of course.
You inched- could you still call it inching?- closer to the wall as you hid underneath the couch as two bright pink bunny slippers shuffled past. They were clean, and well taken care of, if just a little worn. Definitely Sans, you decided, and not Skulls. You weren’t entirely sure which one scared you more, but you knew that both of them were preferable to Red, who had caught and caged you no less than four separate times since you had been dragged into their home and kept like an especially aggressive pet.
This, of course, offended you. You weren’t aggressive, you were scared.
The skeleton stopped walking, and almost in slow motion you could see him kneel down and just like in a horror movie, a glint of gold behind a sharp grin told you this wasn’t Sans, or Skulls. Red, the absolute bastard, had taken advantage of your reliance of visual cues and tricked you into letting you guard down just a smidge.
“C’mere darlin,” he crooned, sticking his hand underneath the couch. You were lucky that your soul was too tiny for his magic to grab onto, or else you wouldn’t have a fighters chance of escaping.
You squeaked and took off, carefully dodging the bones he kept throwing around to slow you down. You were getting better about figuring out where they would pop up, and taking sharper turns. If you got lucky, Red would trip over his own attacks.
“C’mon! Y’need a checkup.”
Oh god.
He wasn’t trying to just trap you.
He was trying to drop you at a shelter.
Shit.
You knew that you weren’t exactly a priority to the skeletons, but you had hoped they at least had enough heart to keep you were you could still get updated on Sans’ progress on his Void machine. But… it looked like the trio had finally decided that you were too much work, which you should have seen coming sooner.
You had read horror stories about shelters. Both in fanfiction before you had gotten dragged here, and in detailed articles online when Skulls dropped his phone under the bed and forgot where it was.
You weren’t a fighting bitty, you were a pet bitty, for as much as a bitty as you were anyways.
“Don’t be difficult, just- FUCK!”
You hadn’t paid attention to which door you were going through, just that it was one that Skulls had just opened. The dirt was a complete shock to you though, and a spike of terror ran through you as you realized that you were outside.
And Red looked pissed.
Not thinking anything of it, you dived into the bushes lining the house. This, at least, would give you some time to your self. You could faintly hear Red and Skulls arguing as Red tried to shove his way past the shorter skeleton. You scampered further into the yard, searching for a place to hide.
Logically, you knew that holes in the ground weren’t safe as they could be hiding some sort of animal that could easily kill and eat you and probably use your bones to line its nest, so that was out.
Today was the worst.
Skulls walked past your hiding spot, calling out for you.
“darlin’?”
And across the yard, you could see Red stomping and swearing as he shoved things around looking for you.
The adrenaline dropped, leaving you shaking and hungry.
You inched closer back towards the door, just in time for Sans to step outside. Luckily for you, he left it open as he walked out.
“red,” he sighed, “what did you do?”
You darted in as soon as you were sure no one was paying attention to the door.
“i was jus’ tryn’ ta-” His voice trailed off as you ran further into the house, taking refuge underneath Skulls’ bed where it was safest.
No bitty fighting rings for you. You were staying right here where it was safe.
