Hey, ik your blog hasn't been active in a few months, but I just got into the Newsies fandom recently (just in time to miss absolutely everything :CCC) so to deal, I scrolled through all 88 pages of your blog and stayed connected with my sister in college by sending her links to posts at odd hours. Spot knows a lot of stuff and no one really knows why (he taught himself to read as a kid because no one else bothered and he can’t afford to buy books but he picks up every abandoned one he finds and reads it, keeping them all under his bed) but instead of using his knowledge like Davey and explaining things to people, he uses it to be even more annoying by giving one word answers to other people’s comments.

Les: “why can dogs smell so well?” Spot: “evolution”

Race, with Spot sprawled over his lap: “Jesus Christ why are you so heavy?” Spot: “gravity” (The real question was why Spot was even sat on Race in the first place. He was keeping up a pretence of doing it to be annoying, because Spot Conlon couldn’t just /ask/ for a cuddle)

Mush: “why is the sky blue?” Spot: “molecules”

Jack: “why is it that we can never catch a break?” Spot: “capitalism”

It usually leaves people with more questions but Spot just smirks. Unless it’s one of the younger Brooklyn kids, then he explains everything to them because they’re curious and he wants to help them learn. Knowledge is power and all.

I wish we could’ve learned more about the Delancey brothers. Why are they the way that they are? What motivates them? The the 1992 movie one of them calls Weasel “uncle wies” is that how they got their job at the world?? They took money to beat up trolley strikers in newsies live and race said “ain’t your father one of the strikers?” and one replies with “guess he didn’t take care of me” What happened with their father??? Why are they close with their uncle instead??? Is it bc weasel got them a job at the world when their father stopped working to strike???? I need to know if I’m allowed to hate them or if there’s some Backstory™ that justifies everything
