I love this piece of mine because it’s an illustration inspired by Robert Eggers’ film The Witch. Right now, I’m working on a full-sized painting based on this illustration — it was commissioned from me.

My another artwork
“The death of Theseus”
They say the Knossian labyrinth held not only a trap — but a soul.
The Minotaur was no monster, but the son of a woman and a curse.
One day, Theseus entered the labyrinth, a golden thread trailing from his hand — a path back, a bond with Ariadne, waiting at the exit.
But the Minotaur saw the thread before he saw Theseus.
The beast took it and held his breath.
It trembled in his palm — alive.
Rage was not born from a roar.
With a sudden pull, he tore the golden thread — and with it, Theseus’s way out.
Theseus lunged with his sword — but too late.
The Minotaur’s hand, heavy as time, closed around his arm like iron pincers.
A crack.
The blade fell, clattering against stone.
Theseus staggered — and took a blow to the chest that punched the air from his lungs.
His body slid back, but he rose again.
Another blow — to the thigh, the gut. Blood bloomed, but the beast only growled.
The Minotaur grabbed him again.
This time by the neck.
Lifted him like a rag doll.
Slammed him against the wall.
The beast’s maw opened —
Teeth large, yellow, blunt.
His face was close, nearly human in fury, nearly blissful in hunger.
The first bite: the shoulder.
Meat tore with effort, cartilage cracking.
The second: the belly.
Blood — hot, and sweet like wine.
Theseus no longer breathed.
No one ever told the tale could end like this.

This is another piece from my mini-series of fairytale illustrations. It depicts a swamp girl who has found an old prince’s skull at the bottom of the swamp and is gently playing with it :)
