Afflicted with a virus from Earth. I live an don't die. I'm death yet alive. This virus that's within me that turns the dead undead but not living. It's 3022 on the planet Taron and I am alone, I am contagious, I am death to everyone and no one.

He looked up at his mother. “We fled because there was a virus that attacked the brain. It killed a third of the planet.  He stood up and walked toward his mother. His eyes are still full of tears. Zasha started to mone and move slowly while on the ground. Then she started to screech loudly. “What are you saying? Are you saying I gave her that virus?” Zasha then stood on her feet. Her eyes locked on him. Her arms went up and she charged at him with her mouth wide open. He then knew why no one wanted to elaborate on those dreadful things. Turns out they still do exist and he's one of them.

I’m going to disobey my mother tonight and meet a girl that I’ve been in love with for centuries. She was looking around eagerly for him. Her hair blew in the soft breeze. “Zasha,” he said. She turned and smiled at him.  They both sat on the quilt and looked up at the sky. The pink planet started to pass in front of the moon. The moonlight shining through the planet gave off a light pink light. He leaned in and their lips touched. Then she began to shake and convulse. He ran home with her in his arms. Shouting for his mother's help. Zasha died on the living room floor.

It’s 3022 and This is the planet Teron. Humans migrated here in the late 2000s. I don’t know how far Earth is from here, but I know we are 474.14 million light-years away from Jupiter. I’m told by my elders that humans are creatures of old habit. That Teron is not much different from Earth. We age slower. wasn’t one until I touched my tenth year. Death is also something that doesn't happen as often as it did on Earth. There are generations of families here. My mother, like a lot of others, was a baby when she arrived here.

To live in this place where death is rare. To be the only one who is up close and personal with death. To never love. Will I forever be alone?

It's been a while since I found out that I could never love someone. If I did make the mistake of loving someone. That I could never feel there embrace. How dreadful the days have become.

But not with you,” she said. Zasha started to mone and move slowly while on the ground. Then she started to screech loudly. “What are you saying? Are you saying I gave her that virus?” Zasha then stood at her feet. Her eyes locked on him. Her arms went up and she charged at him with her mouth wide open. He grabbed her arms and held her in front of him. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. There was a loud pop. Zasha’s undead body fell to the ground, blood pouring from the bullet hole in her heart. He dropped to his knees.” I’m sorry my son I know you loved her.” He looked up at his mother while she stood there with the gun in her hand. “Please don’t sneak out again,” she said.

“We fled because there was a virus that attacked the brain. It killed a third of the planet. But the dead didn’t say dead. They rose again and began to eat the living. No one could survive a bite from them, a scratch. Even a little thing like a kiss. The virus was very contagious.” He stood up and walked toward his mother. His eyes are still full of tears. “Why are you telling me this,” he asked. There were only a few babies from Earth because we carried the virus, but it didn’t affect us. We were A symptomatic.” Eventually, it died over the decades."

Afflicted
His mother ran down the steps while he was laying her flat on the living room floor. Tears streamed down his face. He put his ear to her chest. She had no heartbeat. “What did you do my son,” said his mother. He looked up at her confused. “I didn’t do anything; we were watching the pink planet cross the moon. Then we scared a kiss. While we were kissing, she fell out.” He said, “Help her he pleaded.” While crouching over her body. “Do you know why we fled earth”? He looked up at his mother.

He raised his hand up to her face to move her hair from it. “She is so beautiful,” he thought to himself. “I think this is the perfect time for our first kiss,” he thought. He leaned in and their lips touched. They kissed softly under the moon. Then she began to shake and convulse while falling back onto the quilt that separated them from the grass. “Zasha”! He shouted. Tears started to run down his face. He picked her up and ran to his home. Her body was lying limp in his arms. He kicked in his front door. “Mom”! He shouted. “Help, mom, please.”

He hopped a fence and walked until he reached an open field. He smiled when he saw her. She was looking around eagerly for him. Her hair blew in the soft breeze. “Zasha,” he said. She turned and smiled at him. “It took you long enough to get here. You almost missed it. Here sit down, I brought a quilt.” She said to him. They both sat on the quilt and looked up at the sky. The pink planet started to pass in front of the moon. The moonlight shining through the planet gave off a light pink light. That shined on them. They both looked at each other smiling.

My mother is very protective, and she doesn't like me to go out too often. But tonight is the night you can see the planet pink cross the moon for a few seconds. Which only happens every 1000 years. I’m going to disobey my mother tonight and meet a girl that I’ve been in love with for centuries. Unlike staying inside every night. He then put away his journal and jumped out of his window. He ran across the yard, his white shirt shining in the moonlight.

My mother, like a lot of others, was a baby when she arrived here. So, she grew up slowly as we did. She still has pictures and things from the old world. I was told when they came to Toran there were dreadful things about. That no longer exists today. No one ever elaborated on that though.

I’m told by my elders that humans are creatures of old habit. That Teron is not much different from Earth. But the time is different here though. We age slower. We don’t celebrate our day of birth every year. Here we celebrate every 10 years. I wasn’t one until I touched my tenth year. I couldn’t imagine a baby only being a baby for that short amount of time. Death is also something that doesn't happen as often as it did on Earth. There are generations of families here.
