stellars do not die. they existed before death and they will exist long after the concept. There are only two outcomes for the "death" of a stellar. both of which occured to established stellars:
shattering: shattering is when a singular stellar is split into many due to a threat or need to accomplish something. shattering can either occur willingly(terapagos takes fragments of itself all of the time) or not(jirachi was shattered against its will). shattering can cause fragments to gain sentience in some way. Each Jirachi is its own character, each terapagos is its own being but it still shares the hivemind, and zygarde has only a chosen few fragments that have a will but are ultimately still connected. an unwilling shattering seperates the fragments from each other, which is jirachis can't connect to eachother from long distances.
reformation: the act of a stellar being completely destroyed, it's energy drained, or some sort of traditional "death." the one and only current example of this is the megalith, which was "killed" in the anime. that being said, even post XYZ, it is already beginning to reform. stellars will simply reform after being severely injured.
an additional note is that stellar "siblings" are a result of a greater shattering near the beginning nothing. technically every stellar was original a singular entity before the first shattering. though given the present stellars, unless they are siblings, are no longer connected...that means that something had to cause the first shattering. the cause of which is unknown.

#reminder :]#the reason i say its ruri and not like . turo/sada who left.#is that i feel like if it was they would have mentioned it-#study.

Digging too deep:
Philosophical obsession to the point of self destruction
[Image description: A collage consisting of 10 different photographs and quotes, all related to digging and holes. From top to bottom:
A wikipedia headline that says “Law of Holes”.
A close up of a shovel, digging into loose dirt.
An excerpt from a wikipedia article about the law of holes: The law of holes or the first law of holes, is an adage which states: "if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging." It is used as a metaphor, warning that when in an untenable position, it is best to stop making the situation worse.”
A lyrics excerpt from ‘The Song With Five Names’ by Will Wood: You can break a shovel when you break new ground / You dig dirt up when you dig deep down / You should know better than that by now / It's not profound to know that you could never know!
A blurry photograph of a dark rectangular hole in the ground, seemingly a grave. The hole is so dark the bottom of it isn’t visible. Besides the hole there is a pile of dirt.
A lyrics excerpt from ‘Hand Me My Shovel, I’m Going In!’ by Will Wood and The Tapeworms: Gotta get to the bottom of this/ Gotta get to the bottom of this / Gotta get to the bottom of this / Gotta gotta get, gotta gotta get, gotta get / Gotta get to the bottom of this / Gotta gotta get, gotta gotta get, gotta get / Gotta get to the bottom of this / Gotta gotta get, gotta gotta get, gotta get / Gotta get to the bottom of this / If it kills me
An excerpt from a wikipedia article about the law of holes: The second law of holes is commonly known as: "when you stop digging, you are still in a hole."
A photograph of a deep round hole. There’s a ladder going down into it and the bottom of the hole isn’t visible.
An excerpt from the transcript of episode 88 of The Magnus Archives: It was very strange. It was just the one word, solid capital letters in a small, neat typeface at the very centre of the page. It said ‘DIG’. I took that to be the title, and turned to the next page. ‘DIG’. Exactly the same. The third page. ‘DIG’. The fourth page. ‘DIG’. Dig, dig, dig, dig.
A lyrics excerpt from ‘Hand Me My Shovel, I’m Going In!’ by Will Wood and The Tapeworms: Looking down I could say heaven sent me / Hand me my shovel, I’m going in!

it should also note that some pokemon are either a direct result of just a stellar, or of a stellar in union with being. some examples are:
rayquaza originate from a distant stellar(the stormy planet)
diancie are a result of the union between the sundial, yveltal, and xerneas
nihilego are a result of the globe and necrozma's seperation.
glimmora were originally shards of terapagos's shell when it was being mined for a device.
some golett and golurk were made with shards found in chargestone cave as well as the megalith.
most pokemon found in the tree of beginning were a result of mew and the tree's union.
the groudon in the jirachi movie was a DIRECT creation of jirachi.

i will be making a FULL glossary on them(i have already started, been working on it on and off) but here is a list of some of the stellars that are included:
The Sundial (Shard of Time)
The Megalith (Shard of Energy)
Zygarde (Stellar of Order)
Jirachi(s) (Wishing Stars)
Globe (of Beginnings)
Tree (of Beginnings)
Terapagos (Pendant of Beginnings)
Stormy Planet
the stellars can be simply defined as beings that have existed since before creation, before there was anything and nothing. they are parasitic by nature, but some develop more mutualistic relationships, such as zygarde. jirachi is even one that has been completely removed from it's parasitic nature for a multitude of reasons.
#SLAPS THE LORE IN YOUR LAP#study.#not all of them btw. just the ones ive developed the most </3 there Will be more revelations

ruri isn't evil. he isn't really that unethical. that being said, he is not well. he easily loses himself in his obsession, he gets a little too pushy about boundaries, he is open to crime just to get further in his research. in the end, he's a good person...but he's so close to breaking in so many ways that he can seem very unnerving to be around, work with, or befriend.

Geological horror. You find a geode and crack it open and the crystal lining its walls is human blood that can't be genetically matched to anyone. You find a human skeleton but every one of the bones is made from rock, a rock that you know can't be whittled into those shapes. You find layers of clay and loam that sport ancient fossils at the top and the still-rotting corpses of modern animals at the bottom.

ruri is the study of incomprehensible horrors, cosmic horrors, insanity's effect on a man, loneliness turning into obsession, reflections of beasts and men, a race to the end, and memories taking over the present.
