Me when Booker inevitably returns to the group in TOG2 to help take down Quynh, despite everything he did in the first movie, and having not served even half of his “100 years of exile” yet:

Do I want BuckTommy back in s9? Yes. Am I reasonably confident that their story was left open-ended so that they could revisit it at some point? Yes.

That said, I’ve had time to sit with my thoughts and understand that this is The Mould’s Show™️. As much as I want BuckTommy to be “endgame” or whatever, the simple fact is; the show isn’t over yet. Nobody is “endgame” until the credits roll on the final episode of the final season. Bathena’s arc last season proved that much to us.

At the end of the day, we may never see BuckTommy together again, and we have to be okay with that. Tim’s gonna write whatever the fuck Tim wants to write. We could see Buck single all season, we could see Lucy come back and have a romantic arc with him, or he could be partnered with a new character entirely, we just don’t know. That’s why we have fanfiction; so we can write what we want to see. Canon divergence exists as a tag for a reason, people.

At the end of the day, “endgame” isn’t guaranteed to any ship. Like it or not, that’s just how it works.
