prompts from the 2012 movie adaptation, anna karenina.
âsin has a price. you may be sure of that.â
âiâll be back before you know it. and iâll bring you a present.â
âyouâre a charming creature. why donât i know you?â
âiâd rather end up wishing i hadnât than wishing i had, wouldnât you?â
âunderstand that for me, tonight is a question of life and death.â
âyou look like a capitalist!â
âwho told you where to find me?â
âyouâre on the wrong side of history. not because privilege is immoral, but because itâs irrational.â
âromantic love will be the last illusion of the old order.â
âyou love them, and they love you, but you canât forgive. so your lives must continue like this forever, with both of you wretched!â
âoh, to be your age again.â
âmay i have a waltz?â
âyou must forget me. if youâre a good person, youâll forget everything.â
âand you? will you forget?â
âi didnât know you were an art lover.â
âiâm afraid iâm becoming quite ridiculous.â
âyouâre just in time for the surprise.â
âwere you glad to see me or not?â
âyou make me feel as if i were guilty of something.â
âif you have any thought for me, you will give me back my peace.â
âthere can be no peace for us. only misery, or the greatest happiness.â
âitâs the end of everything.â
âiâve got nothing left now except you.â
âyouâre my happiness.â
âyou murdered my happiness.â
âiâll never get married. the whole business of it has become disgusting to me.â
âoh, so this is love. this.â
âforgive me, but you are too tolerant.â
âiâll never forgive myself for your unhappiness.â
âi have to tell you, you behaved improperly today.â
âyou will behave in a way that nothing is known against you by society.â
âtell me what i did to deserve this.â
âi will not live like this. this waiting, hour after hour, not knowing when iâll ever see you again.â
âiâll be glad to die before you start to hate me.â
âi thank god the curse of love is lifted from me.â
âwould you die for love?â
âan impure love is not love, to me.â
âyou will have no peace of mind until you forgive them.â
âi am not a cruel person. i have never hated anyone. but i hate them with all my soul, for all the wrong they have done me.â
âiâm not afraid of them now. iâm afraid of death, though.â
âyou look like what youâve become - a laughingstock.â
âit would be a sin to help you destroy yourself.â
âall i know is that i sent them away and itâs as if iâd shot myself through the heart!â
âi would die for them, but⌠i wonât live like this for them.â
âiâm not ashamed of who i am or what iâve done.â
âare you ashamed for me?â
âyouâre afraid. well, iâm not.â
âdonât you disapprove of me for what iâve done?â
âi wish iâd done the same, but no one asked me. well, i wouldnât have been brave enough.â
âyouâve given up everything for me and itâs turned you against me. why lie about it?â
âiâve been living off your love and thereâs none left.â
âyou should leave me.â
âyou canât ask why about love.â
âis there anything you wish to say to me?â
âgod, forgive me!â

"...A-Avoiding...?"
Were they avoiding her specifically? The empress couldn't possibly imagine why they would avoid her. Had she done something to offend them? Or, perhaps avoidance was a practice they really had grown fond of.
"I see... What a curious thing to be obsessed with."
A tad rude, too.
@untaintedgoldâ
They peer over their shoulder at her. A heavy silence has fallen between them and for a while it seems like they arenât going to break it. Instead they make a sound that could be a sniff. Pivioting their head away again they look up to the stars twinkling in the sky.Â
â Avoiding is my newest obsession â Â

Okay, I really need to kick my ass into gear and be on here more.
My deepest and most sincere apologies for not coming back successfully twice now. My job is a lot more mentally exhausting than I had thought and leaves me very brain dead, but I miss writing and want to come back.
That means I'll have to restart or scrap old threads. So if we had a thread going prior, or one that was supposed to have started, let me know if you'd like to do a new thread or plot for one. My own personal preference is plotting prior, but either way is fine.
If you're new, welcome and thank you for following!

elysianbookâ:
in silence, her face immediately lights up, adorned by a big smile and the usual rosy cheeks. the child often tries to not jump into assumptions, preferring to wait and later on, ask. for courtesyâs sake, and to keep her hopes at bay. hence, to hear an answer, a positive affirmation, so clear â itâs a moment of utmost delight. they are friends. good ones, even. how exciting!
ah, then her instinct was right. though, itâs not really a problem. on the contrary, that facilitates the process for her. if miss hikari isnât prejudiced against ghosts, thereâs no need to hide her real nature. â i expected no less from a magical fairy princess, your soul must be highly attuned to sense the supernaturalâŚ! it makes me very, very happy that you are so accepting⌠i will dearly treasure this bond. â
timidity appears at the sudden offer. itâs tempting, moreover, if it has spellbooks and tomes, these might help her control her abilities.
however, the reaction of the castle folk is whatâs worrying.
just a little, a tiny bit.
â as long as it is a non-issue, i would love to! if you are free, we could have a reading session together. â her outstretched palm is an invitation for the royal to take it; to stroll toward the palace whilst holding hands. itâs a bold action, meant to emphasize her trust. normally, aside from formal greetings, she avoids touch, given how the temperature of her form is wintry cold.
â i promise to behave, after some time of being on this journey⌠i have improved my old uncouth habits. i do not leave books on the floor anymore. i am careful! â her body is no longer an impediment, a burden, moving, floating as she pleases. a walk to the shelf and back to her bed would be nothing now.
What a curious little friend she had. But that was what Hikari loved about meeting newcomers, they were always the most surprising and most unusual people. This friendship was sure to be a special one and treasured.
"It has been a while since I last read with a companion. I look forward to our future reading sessions," she chirped, taking a gentle hold of El's hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze. Although the child's hand was warm, Hikari didn't flinch or yank her hand back. How she wished she could give her warmth to El.
"I trust you, El. You behave and carry yourself as if you were a young noble lady," she complimented with a smile.
And so, Hikari led El through the forest, leaving behind the flowers to scatter to the wind and leave the Sacred Forest as it was.
A question did spring into her mind. If El hadn't been in a castle before, would it prove to be overwhelming for the little ghost? Would the Shirogane residence be better if she wanted something cozier?
"Will it be your first time in a palace?"

peopleoftheshadowsâ:
âBut my darling, safe is boring! Thereâs nothing exciting about it. No thrill, no surprises, nothing!â He would have flailed his hands around, but kept himself at bay for now, keeping them behind him as they continued weaving away.
âYou could have had me fooled though! Usually when people take things and threats seriously, they deal with them. Which, i suppose this is one way, but it feels like youâve left me here awaiting for more. Like an unfinished painting.â His eyes did look over the crystals. Possibly still as annoying as before, but now they were an solid annoyance.
âKhwehehehe. Youâre not naive as you might seem, still it was worth a shot to try.â He muttered, before tilting his head. âThen what oh, what do you intend to do with me if not keep me here as your little prisoner?â
Yet her next words caused him to freeze for a moment, the bright smile he had, turning into a huge frown. âNo, you are correct, she doesnât give me attention or play around with me, but the fact that i take lives, is because its so much fun. A bit on why i plan to take yours!â with that he was done, he clapped his hands together, as from the shadows around them began rising dark beasts, with golden yellow eyes, like those of jokuriâs, but these seemed of darkness and their eyes were like those of jokuriâs. âOh, donât mind their smell, its not worse then their bite.â
Oh? Had she actually struck a nerve?
Seeing the smile turn into a frown caused her to smile, essentially taunting him. The smile quickly vanished for her as well as she noticed the shadows rising and taking on the form of beasts. "I should have known better than to think you were not up to anything," she grumbled. "A poor choice in retrospect."
Her weapon was brandished again as she took on a defensive stance. "A shame I have to let you down, dear Jokuri. I fear I do not die easy. Besides, I have too much I wish to do before I meet my end, so I recommend calling your shadow friends off," she advised as she lodged her staff into the ground and forced vines to madly grow around them and creep toward the beasts to bind them.
"What happens if you hypothetically kill me, though? Indulge me while I deal with your beasts."

â° Â âž Â â * : シ  â   â   ËËË Â Â Â Â Â TEN QUESTIONS ⌠oh ! He remembered that game. He used to play that game with his brother quite a few times before. At first, the game hadnât really been all that fun. His brother had always been the stuffy type that preferred to keep to himself. He didnât even know of his brotherâs PAST until he and his brother met FATHER. Yet even then, they slowly opened up to each other and began to love and trust each other until the very end.
( At least, that was what he THOUGHT. )
The child nods; eager to play the game again. Itâs been so long; TOO LONG in fact. And of course, the game ( and everything else, really ) was more fun with his brother. But his brother wasnât here so he would have to settle with playing with her.
       â Yes ! I am ! Iâve played that a lot before ! â
       â Who should start, Mademoiselle ? â
"Lovely!"
The empress clapped her gloved hands together in delight. She hadn't anticipated the youth to agree to it so quickly, but it spared her from having to convince him to play. At least now she could try to gain his trust and when her turn came, perhaps he would be more inclined to share the truth with her.
Whatever it was.
"Hm... How about you start us off, Misha-kun? I shall let you ask the questions first. Tis only fair, is it not?"
