Much as I hate dropping threads because I’ve never lost interest in one there was just too much for me, a lot of them were old random unplotted stuff and lots of things with people that have been gone for a while.  If I’ve dropped my only thread with you I’m doubly sorry but we can always create another thing.

It needs an old-school touch, could you-” It shouldn’t have been surprising, not now. Not when they’d made a routine out of getting ready, zipping her grown, fastening the evening’s carefully chosen pieces, even checking the straps of her heels, he maneuvered them through an unspoken checklist with the same fluidity and grace he’d shown on the dance floor moments ago. And still, when the last of her picks snapped inside the antique lock Ororo found herself shocked to feel the gentle tug on her hair, even more so to realize her palm was already open and waiting for the bobby pin. When he’d learned to read her this well and when exactly she’d grown so accustomed to it that relying on him was now instinctual, she couldn’t pin.

“… thank you,” slender fingers closing around the tiny piece of metal as she decided this wasn’t the time to panic. And certainly, not the time to start comparing her new partner to the old, the mental alarms would still be sounding off long after the job was done, she’d attempt to reassure herself history wasn’t always doomed to repeat itself then.

Nostalgia wafted through air assaulting her senses with the savory scents of Remy’s dish and flashes of simpler times. When she’d believed herself just a young girl with no responsibility outside of survival and keeping her older partner in crime out of trouble. “Now, this takes me back,” she said right before inhaling two lungs full of the gumbo. Campfires on the outskirts of the bayou, his soft crooning as he went about stirring and seasoning while she berated him for flirting with the morning’s mark. Funny how the collected smells of these particular ingredients could freshen faded memories. Though the Cajun’s grin was proud and shameless she couldn’t resist the offered spoon, lips blow till the steam died down then part and what hit her taste buds sent them humming with delight.     

“And makes me long to be selfish,” no fool she claimed the bowl as the evening stampede came charging into the kitchen then kissed the cook’s cheek.  While she couldn’t keep this batch all to herself, Ororo refused to walk away with anything less than a healthy portion. “Thank you, Remy.”
