SUBJECTIVITY:
Subjectivity is a central philosophical concept, in regard to consciousness; personhood, agency, reality; and truth (Solomon 2005, p.900). Something being a subject simply meaning an individual whom possesses conscious experiences linked with: perspectives, beliefs; feelings and desires.
Also, subjectivity is a form of bias and also individuality, for example, if you grew up with 6 sisters or 6 brothers, that experience may influence how you view men; women and/families. Moreover, subjectivity is the collection of these perceptions specific to a persons’ experiences; expectations, personal and/or cultural understanding (Simandan 2016, p.249).
Furthermore, Allen 2016, suggests that Foucault's and Arendt’s divergent views about the role that power plays in regards to subjectivity and agency should be seen as complementary rather than opposed (Allen 2012, p. 140).

For example, The book Harry Potter and The Philosopher Stone written by JK Rowling portrays a form of subjectivity; as Harry is subjected to a neglectful and severely isolated upbringing by his aunt; uncle, and cousin. Harry is made to conform to unfair living environments (living in a small sized room beneath the stairs of 4 Privet Drive). Harry Potter is forced to wear old clothes that did not fit, his aunt and uncle did not acknowledge his birthday, he was not to ask questions. These experiences gravely impacted Harry Potters subjectivity. Once Harry Potter arrived at Hogwarts his numerous encounters with creatures like werewolves and merpeople that defy species boundaries and especially through Harry’s own experiences with animal embodiment. When Harry’s body and subjectivity undergo animal metamorphoses, his ontological identity becomes highly unstable (Batty, H 2011 p.1).

ESSENTIALISM:
Is the belief that we all have an essence; That for any specific entity there are a set attributes which are vital to its identity and function. For example, people who have an essentialist lifestyle that face ‘trade-off’ decisions usually chose the long-term satisfaction rather than short-term comfort (Mckeown 2014, p.240).

“Essentialism is not about how to get more things done; it’s about how to get the right things done. It doesn't mean just doing less for the sake of less either. It is about making the wisest possible investment of your time and energy in order to operate at our highest point of contribution by doing only what is essential”(Mckeown 2014, p.227). On the contrary, anti-essentialism is the non-belief in essence of any given thing, idea or metaphysical entity.

OVERDETERMINATION:
‘Freudian theory argues that all psychological material is overdetermined. This means that even the most trivial behaviors are the focus and expression of the most plural and deep psychological complexity’ (Mansfield 2000, p.29)

SENSORY KNOWLEDGE
Sensory knowledge tells us about the world outside of our bodies, using our senses; such as sight, hearing, touch; smell and taste. - (exteroception)
youtube
Furthermore, sensory knowledge in regards to creative writing can be limiting, as writers, we have to portray a particular action, smell, feeling and so forth only using words.

CREATIVE INFLUENCE:
Creative influence, are the things that influence us as creative practitioners, things that influence us creatively can be from the most minute most subtle things to the most elaborate most important and controversial. Furthermore, people can be creatively influenced by anything (Tanner, C 2012 p.1). The concept of creative influence is evident in each of Freda Khalos pieces as she portrays a particular part of her life that she found problematic, conveying a specific feeling to the audience.

FRACTURED IDENTITY:

Three different ways of conceptualising identity:
1. The enlightenment subject
‘The capacities of reason, consciousness, and action’ (Hall 1990, p.285).
.2. The sociological subject
‘Relation to significant others. bridging the gap between the ‘inside’ and ‘outside’’ (Giddens 1991, p.53).
3. The post-modern subject
‘Is historical not biologically defined’ (Hall 1990, p.285).
Furthermore, in this blog post, I will explore the fractured identity of Severus Snape a fictional character from JK Rowling’s Harry Potter novels. Throughout the Harry Potter series, we meet a very in-depth character Severus Snape, whom we despise in the beginning as he is portrayed as a cold-hearted villain. However, by the end of the series, we meet an entirely different Severus Snape. I believe the character Severus Snape fits in with the fractured Identity concept definition as he wears a false persona leading readers to believe that he is a bad person in contrast, he is probably the most loyal of all the characters of the Harry Potter series. Thus, meaning his identity is fractured as he had to uphold a false persona for years. Severus Snapes’ bridge to his ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ mentioned in the enlightenment subject is broken as he on the ‘outside’ is not who he is ‘inside’.

SOCIAL IDENTITY
We learn to use language that was in use before we arrived. We live our lives in the context of the social relationships we have with others. Giddens 1991, describes identity as a project, by this he means; identity is our creation, something is always in progress, a moving towards rather than an arrival. Moreover, is constituted by the ability to sustain a narrative about the self (Giddens 1991, p.151). Thus, social identity is not a distinctive trait or even a collection of; Traits possessed by the individual is the self-reflex understood by the person in terms of her or his biography (Giddens 1991, p.153).

UNCONSCIOUS:
Three main pathways to the unconscious are dreams, parapraxes, and jokes. The movie The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl portrays the meaning of the unconscious through-out the entire film. The main character (Max) explores and evaluates his unconscious using a dream journal. The movie explores Max’s raw and unfiltered thoughts that have been suppressed and displaced in his unconscious; The alternate reality created in Max’s unconscious mind (dreams), is distorted by a group of bullies who ended up suppressed in Max’s unconscious. Max then faces challenges (life and death) within his unconscious. By the end of the film, Max is brought back to ‘reality’ by the fictional characters that were created and suppressed in his unconscious. Moreover, the movie also has elements of the Uncanny, as Max’s teacher in his unconscious is portrayed as a very large electrical monster. The familiar yet unfamiliar in an unsettling way.

CREATIVITY:
Three key elements that makeup creativity: a problem, environment, and willingness to explore (Tanner 2012 p.1). If you look at any creative piece in the past 12 decades, you will notice that each of these aspects are evident (Tanner 2012 p.1).
