as stupid as it may sound, the sims made me realize how much i neglect my needs
like duh of course you won't have any energy to learn something new for the career change - your low hygiene, bladder and fun levels are bringing you too much discomfort what a surprise that you don't have any energy left after work - it's not inspiring or energizing you, you're constantly working yourself out so after returning home you will have to spend some time on meeting your needs also the thing with your sims "disappearing" while they at work? totally valid for some jobs because you just have to turn off your brain and be a corporate slave. you don't live at those hours, you just spend time to get some money oh you feel bad about how you go out less than "normal" people and don't like to talk as much? well maybe you're just built this way, it's in your character description so you gotta live with it now. but no matter what - you still have a social need, it's your choice on how to fulfill it to build literally ANY skill, you'll need time and effort. and many hours and days of your work looking/sounding like shit. you'll need to read books and be in a certain mood if you want to progress faster. and you can't be in that mood if you're constantly burnt out now can you? no wonder they have moodlets based on whether the environment is good or bad around the sim - that can affect you so damn much, you have no idea until you clean up and decorate it your way
so to my future self and anyone else reading this, to stay somewhat stable and content, you really need to:
check your mood. like really just sit down and recognize what the hell are you feeling and preferably why so you can make it work to your benefit and take care of yourself
check your needs - they might be the main reason for your bad mood like are you hungry? do you need to go take a piss? are you sleepy? when was the last time you've had fun?
check your aspirations and whether the job you chose is aligned with those. and remember that you can always start over. it's scary, it takes a lot of work to learn new skills, it's risky and yet it's possible and probably for the best
get to know yourself, your "character traits" and how they affect you on a daily basis. are they lifestyle related? or maybe they could help you build some skills faster? perhaps they'll even help you realize what type of social life is more suitable for you
just have some fun from time to time, we're all gonna disappear one day anyway. lil old death is not going to care how old you are or how satisfied you were throughout your life. it's just going to happen, whether of old age or of some stupid (but real) reason like laughing hysterically. so just enjoy the game while it lasts.

you know what made me realize how out of it all I've been lately?
the fact that there's a bird nest on the tree right outside my window and I just noticed it
when I looked out this morning, I realized it's been such a long while since I even thought about going out without a rush
since I just wanted to look at the morning sky
since I just tried to take a damn break

hi, a lot of you need a perspective reset
the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years
taking the threshold of adulthood as 18, you are likely to spend at least 52 years as a fully grown adult
at the age of 30 you have lived less than one quarter of your adult life (12/52 years)
'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65
it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age
it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.
you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, be fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.
young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!
there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big

THIS + "a job is supposed to be boring, it's a job after all, you're being picky" haha no you silly if i'm going to waste 8 hours a day/40 hours a week/~2000 hours a year on something, i'd rather it be something i enjoy at least a little bit so that i don't go certifiably insane.
the thing about job searching is i see all these job postings and im like i dont wanna do any of this for any of you

speaking of Epic, every damn time i listen to the intro of Love in Paradise, the lyrics do the following in my head:
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer
Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves
One wrong move and you're done for Anything I-
Song of past romance, I see the-
We won't take more suffering from you
Drown in your sorrow and fears
