I got a request for a Lo’ak x shy reader, but I had this idea in the drafts and though I would post this first, hope you enjoy!

→ Neteyam is not shy at all.

→ And you, are only shy.

→ When the younger ones of the clan all decide to do something, Neteyam is always looking for you.

→ He knows you wont be there but a small part of him always makes sure to look.

→ He usually finds you on your own, away from the huge group.

→ This time when he found you, you had your back facing to him, crouched down by a small pool of water, running your hand along the surface. The only thing you were concentrating on was the trickling sound if the water on your fingertips.

→ He creapt up behind you, and quickly wrapped his arms aroudn your shoulders.

→ “Boo!” He shouts as his arms touch your body.

→ You practically jump out of your skin.

→ “Neteyam! Stop it” You wack his hands away, as your face heats up. You frantically look around to make sure no one saw it.

→ “Aww, I’m sorry. Forgive me?” He says whilst jokingly pouting, placing his arms back around you.

→ “I guess so” you mumble.

→ Neteyam understands how shy you are, and never does anything to put you in an awkward position in front of people, but others dont always see it how he does.

→ You always wondered why Neteyam liked be friends with you, because you were nothing lime eachother

→ He was a golden retriever, and you were a black cat.

→ But he loved everything about you.

→ He enjoys protecting you, no matter what its over.

→ He would drop everything to spend a day with you if you didnt want to go.

→ You felt bad each time he did it, but he insisted.

→ Spending time with you is all he wants.

→ When you hang out, you dont always feel the need to speak.

→ You enjoy the silence,

→ And he enjoys admiring you.

→ You sometimes catch him, and he has no shame.

→ If you are put in an awkward or uncomfortable position by someone, Neteyam is always there to help you.

→ Due to your safety being threatened along with the sullys’, you went with them to the metkayina clan.

→ When you arrived, you stayed latched to the side of Neteyam, slightly hiding your face behind him.

→ When Ronal came round to each of you, you stayed where you were up against Neteyam, who gripped your hand in comfort.

→ When being taught to swim, you stayed quiet next to Neteyam.

→ “Do you want to have a go?” Tsireya asks you softly, and all eyes turn to you.

→ You felt your face heat up, and Neteyam could tell.

→ “We can both do it tomorrow” he says, shutting the question down. He smiles at you, and you smile back quickly before looking down at your lap.

Thank you so much!! I wasnt sure how long you invisioned this idea, but I think it suited a blurb. Hope you enjoy!

You and Lo’ak love watching the stars. It was kind of your thing.

You and him were laying side by side, your arms brushing against each others. You were both in a peaceful silence, the only noise being the calm breeze against the trees around you both.

You felt yourself lulling into a sleep, and knew you shouldnt fall asleep where you were, but you were happy in the presence of Lo’ak, and didnt want to leave. So you slowly shuffled into Lo’aks side, slightly laying your head on his chest. You pushed your legs to his side, and nuzzled yourself to fit perfectly beside him.

Neither of you spoke a word, but neither of you had to. Lo’ak felt a sense of accomplishment as he looked down at you laying so close to him. He brought his arm up to wrap around your body, and his tail lay on your calf. He pulled you onto him, then rolled to the side so that he had you in a warm embrace. Lo’aks own sense of protection and security for you made himself feel safe, and both of you fell asleep peacefully under the stars.

→ Lo'ak loves the way your entire energy changes when you speak about something that interests you. When he asks you things about your life back on earth, you face lights up as you love telling him all your memories from back home.

→ You brought books with you to pandora, and Lo'ak adores when you carry them with both arms wrapped securely around them. He thinks its so sweet how passionate your interest in books is. Sometimes if he sees you sat reading, he sits next to you and you tilt the book slightly so he can read it too.

→ He would deny it if anyone questioned him on it, but every so often he enjoys watching you take charge, because he usually likes to look brave to you and take the lead, but secretly loves when you do it instead.

→ Lo'ak loves hearing you sing when doing random things around pandora. You never openly sing infront of him, but when he catches you mumbling or even humming a song, he sits quietly and listens.

→ He loves your clothes. Yes, that sounds weird, but because you wear your clothes from earth, he finds them very interesting. (I definitely feel like you would be wearing like scruffy converse so lets go with that.) Whenever you're sat with him, he will pull at your laces or mess with the hem of your trousers.

→ Lo'ak is the type of person who would lay next to you whilst you read, and fiddle with your bracelet on your wrist whilst you hold your book. It kinda bugged you so you made him one with old thread from a ripped jumper you use to wear, and it made him so happy.

→ He never takes it off. Never.

→ Lo'ak also loves when you get excited over learning things in pandora, or when you join in with part of their traditions. He treasures how open minded you are.

→ He loves your laugh. He could listen to it for hours. He will tickle you randomly or make lots of jokes just to hear it.

→ He loves how thoughtful you are of Tuk when you and all his siblings are together. You always make sure she is included before anyone else has to worry about doing it, he loves that his baby sister is your priority when all together.

→ As a whole, he loves everything about you.

You and Lo'ak had been running through the forests of pandora all day, laughing and just enjoying the beauty of your lands nature. As the sun began to set, you two layed down next to each other on your sides.

Lo'ak admired you. He thought you were the most beautiful person he had ever layed his eyes on. As you lay beside him, your body facing his, his eyes wandered over you. He loved the colour of your eyes, and the way your hands are small compared to his and how they fit perfectly in his hand, the way your hair lay against your neck, and how your smile could simply make his day.

And you admired him just as much as he did you. You adored the way you could spend hours tracing the blue stripes along his skin, and his bravery. He would do anything to protect you.

You thought back to the time where Lo'ak felt like he wasn't 'normal' because he wasn't a full na'vi, and how his hands were 'weird'. You didn't like him speaking down on himself, so reached out for his hand and placed it against yours. Of course his was much larger, but each of yours' fingers sat perfectly on each others. You didn't have to speak for him to know that if no on else accepted him for who he was, you did.

Lo'ak loved how you were quite a lot shorter than him, because it also gave him another reason to take care of you. he enjoyed when he would give you piggybacks so that you could keep up with the sully kids when going on adventures through the forest.

"Your eyes are beautiful" He states, breaking the comfortable silence between you both.

"What?" you question, unsure of whether he is serious or not.

"Your eyes," he says whilst sitting up to look down at you, "they are beautiful, you are beautiful."

"Stop it Lo'ak" you say, and turn over to hide your face from him.

"I mean it Y/n," he replies, pulling you back to face him. You smile at him, still shying away from his touch. He wraps his hands beneath your waist, and you laugh as he pulls you onto him, his tail wrapping around your hips. "I love everything about you."

"Neteyam! Neteyam!" you shout as you run towards him.

"Y/n, are you okay? what is wrong?" Neteyam frantically asks as you run into him. He takes a hold of your hips, searching your body for any wounds. When he looks at you and sees the smile plastered on your face, he breathes a sigh of relief.

"Our brothers and sisters have returned! You must come meet them with me!" You exclaim, tugging on his arm. he looks back at his family, and you look over his shoulder at them all.

"Come on! All of you!"

You start to run off, Neteyams hand in yours. He is grinning at you, so pleased to see you so happy. You hear his family running behind you, as you pull Neteyam into the water, and swim ahead to see your sister.

Neteyam stops to look at all the Tulkun coming through from past the reef, and is broken out of his stare by you shouting towards one of them.

"Sister!" You shout, as you reach your tulkun spirit.

"I met a boy, sister" you sign to the whale, a wide grin adorning your face.

You look over to Neteyam just as he is swimming to you. You grab his hand and place it on your sister.

"I see you" Neteyam signs, as you watch him in awe.

Your sister already likes him. He laughs as she splashes water at him from her blowholes. You speak to her for a while, and introduce her to the rest of the sully family, whilst Neteyam stayed by your side, his hand resting on your waist. You pull Tuk by the arm, and place her on the tulkun, so that she is resting on her stomach on its flipper. You instruct Kiri and Lo'ak to do the same.

"You ready?" you ask softly

"Yeah!" Tuk shouts with excitement, Lo'ak and Kiri both nodding with anticipation.

You nod towards your sister, and her flippers slowly start to rise up an down in the water

"Hold on!" You shout to them.

In one smooth movement, the tulkun swoops underneath the water, and around you, Neteyam, Jake and Neytiri. She bursts back through the water, and returns to where she was in front of you.

They are all laughing as they break the surface, and shout to jake and Neytiri about how fun it was. You and Neteyam both look at eachother and smile. You truly believe they belong here.

You both return to land, where you are sat with him on the rocks.

"She approves of you." You tell Neteyam with a smile.

"Approves of me? As what?" He replies with a chuckle, lacing his arm around you.

"As a brave warrior. A strong leader," you say, slowly leaning in to place your forehead on his, "and a partner for life."

Neteyam tries not to grin at what you say, but cannot help it.

"I see you, y/n."

You look him in the eyes, and embrace every part of him.

"I see you, Neteyam."

I see you- “I see the love and your feelings and your soul and you mean everything to me.”

You and Lo’ak have always had a special connection, and everyone is aware of it. You also clearly like eachother, but both of you doubt that the others feel the same. When you joined them on their travel to the water na’vis, you were quite nervous with what to expect.

“What if they find us?” You ask warily.

“Well then I will protect you.” Lo’ak states.

You smile at his braveness, even though you and him both know that deep down he is just as scared. But Lo’ak loves when he gets a chance to act brave and fearless like his dad.

When you all arrived at the reefs, you were still kind of cautious, and Lo’ak saw this, so pulled you between him and Neteyam. You kept your head down, avoiding the eyes of the Metkayina. You looked away as Jake spoke to Tonowari and Ronal, and glanced at the water around you.

Thats when you spotted a girl emerging from the water. She seemed about your age, and was beautiful. Way prettier than you, you thought. You noticed how Neteyam and Lo’aks heads turned in the same direction, and seemed to linger on the same girl. Neteyam you didnt really care about looking, but you felt insecure as Lo’aks eyebrows ever so slightly raised as his eyes followed the girl, and she looked at him, too. You know you shouldnt feel this way, but you cant help it. For all you know, Lo’ak doesnt have any interest in you, not like you with him.

When she was introduced as Tonowari and Ronal’s daughter, it made you feel even worse about yourself. You weren’t anyone special back in the jungle, just a normal omatikaya na’vi. With Lo’ak being Jake’s son, you felt worried that they would have stronger connections than you and him.

You were taken away from your thoughts by a tug on your arm, and snapped out of it to focus on Lo’ak infront of you.

“Y/n, come on, they are showing us our home. Are you okay?” He says, a hint of concern in his tone.

“Yeah yeah I’m fine, come on” you reply, going ahead with your hand still in his. Lo’ak wasnt fully convinced, but decided to drop it.

Once you had settled in to your home, you were all called to the water, to learn the ways of the Metkayina. You stayed beside Lo’ak, as you were lead to the rocks by the water, by Tsireya and her two brothers. You all sat in a circle, you securely sat between Neteyam and Lo’ak.

“You must learn to slow your breathing to be able to survive under the water.”

She knelt infront of Lo’ak, and placed her hand on his lower abdomen.

“Breathe from here” she instructs

You know it is just their way of teaching, but you felt a wave of jealousy come over you. You werent the type to cause a scene, so you stayed sat down, quietly.

Once you all were able to slow your heart rate enough, you were lead to the water. Lo’ak had a sense of urgency about him as he went ahead with Tsireya, clearly going way too fast for him to handle so soon, and this made you feel deflated. You had only been there a matter of hours and already felt like Lo’ak had found someone over you. You didnt like feeling this way at all, and needed to get away from it. Neteyam, who was swimming beside you, noticed this, but before he was able to check, you spoke up.

“I dont feel all that well, I’m gonna go back.” You say, which is clearly a lie.

Neteyam could tell this, and with a quick glance to Lo’ak and the others ahead, he knew why you felt that way. But he knew you were reserved, and wouldnt tell him the truth, so didn’t want to push it.

“Do you want me to come with you?” He asks softly.

“No no its okay, you go on. Just tell the others I’ll join them another day.” You insist, and turn to swim back to shore before Neteyam could muster another word.

You were now sat down on the edge of your home dangling your feet in the water, splashing the surface with small glum kicks. Neytiri and Jake were with the girls exploring their new home and meeting the clan, so you were on your own.

That was until you heard footsteps.

“Y/n” you hear Lo’ak say as he spots you.

He sits down beside you, placing his feet in the water like you were, and shuffles up close.

“How come you didnt come with us into the sea? It was amazing!” Lo’ak says

“I uh, I didnt feel right,” you said with your head down towards the water “Just wanted to be on my own”

“Are you okay? You have seemed quiet.” He says, gently placing his hand on yours, “Have I done something?”

You look him in the eyes, his filled with concern, yours with longing.

“No, no, its just, its nothing.” You say, returning your focus to the water.

“I know its not nothing y/n, your eyes tell me different.” Lo’ak replies sincerely.

“I guess Im just worried,” you begin.

“About what?” Lo’ak ponders, scooting even closer to you.

“That you’ll forget about me.”

“Wait- what? Why do you think that?” Lo’ak questions, worry filling him.

“Lo’ak, Ive seen the way you look at Tsireya, I mean, I get it, she’s beautiful, shes talented, shes smart, shes-”

“Y/n, stop.” Lo’ak says

You stop.

“Do you think I like Tsireya?” He asks, looking you deep into your eyes as you look up towards him.

“Well its kind of obvious” you painfully chuckle.

“Y/n, I dont like Tsireya.”

You look at him confused, and he shakes his head with a laugh, looking down at his lap for a second.

“Y/n, its always been you.” Lo’ak states. You are taken by surprise, and Lo’ak notices this. He grabs both your hands, and hold you close.

“Y/n, I see you.”

→ Lo’ak is 100% the insecure kinda jealous, not the fustrated/ angry type

→ You, Lo’ak, Neteyam, Kiri and Tuk were spending the day playing in the forest.

→ You all sat down by a small pool of water, and were telling eachother stories.

→ You were sat crossed legged on the ground, Lo’ak laying horizontal to you with his head on your thigh. Kiri was sat in the shallow part of the water, skimming the water with her fingertips, and Neteyam was sat the other side of you, with Tuk perched in his lap.

→ Tuk was talking about how she always wanted to go to earth after all the things you had told them about the place, and jumped out of Neteyam’s lap to ask you about your old friends.

→ You spoke about them and all the fun things you used to do, amd Tuk asked if you had a best friend.

→ You felt Lo’ak shift slightly, but thought nothing of it.

→ You started telling them stories about your old best friend, and all the things you did together.

→ “He was amazing. I wish he could have come with us” you said as you looked around at the others.

→ They all laughed at the stories of the both of you, well, most of them.

→ Lo’ak stayed quiet.

→ You noticed this, and wondered if he was okay.

→ “Lo’ak, are you alr-”

→ “Im fine” he said, and almost shot up from your lap.

→ “I’m uh, I’m gonna go back” he mutters, holding his head down.

→ “No! Come on, Lo’ak, its not time yet, mama said we can stay out till sunset” Tuk says, running to Lo’ak and pulling at his arm.

→ “No, I just wanna go back, Ill see you all soon” He says, and coldly shakes his sister off and turns away to leave.

→ “Are you sure you’re alright Lo’ak?” You question, and stand up to try and meet his gaze.

→ “Im fine, just leave it” Lo’ak shuts you down quickly, and walks off.

→ You don’t believe him, and go after him, making sure Neteyam is alright with taking Kiri and Tuk back later.

→ You jog towards him and grab his forearm, pulling him around to face you, but with him knowing its you, he keeps his head glued to the floor.

→ “Lo’ak, come on I know somethings wrong. Tell me.” You say, and slightly lean into him so his eyes meet yours.

→ You hear him faintly sigh.

→ “Am I your bestfriend?” He asks, almost pleadingly.

→ “What? Why would you-” you begin.

→ “Am I or am I not your best friend, y/n?” He repeats, in a slightly harsher tone.

→ “W ha- Lo’ak, of course you are. Why would you say that?” You ask, confused as to why he would even question that.

→ “Because, you sounded so happy when talking about your best friend from the sky and I didnt know if-”

→ “Lo’ak stop,” You say softly with a smile, grabbing his hand, “You are my bestfriend. And I couldn’t ask for a better one. You mean the world to me Lo’ak, I hope you know that.”

→ “Really?” He asks, quietly.

→ “Yes, Lo’ak. For now and forever.”

→ Lo’ak tries to contain his smile. You dip your head and chuckle, him catching on and doing the same.

→ “You mean the world to me too, y/n” He says shyly.

→ You smile and pull him back to the others.

Not sure if you take like request or anything but I just read your lo’ak crush/bestfriend headcannons and they were so cute could you maybe do how lo’ak reacted to having to leave the jungle and leave reader behind because the sully fam had to go ask the Metkayinas for help? So reader had to go back to the labs and live there for a bit, and maybe how reader goes to visit him after a few days. This is a lot to ask so if you wanna take any parts out that’s fine I love your writing ❤️

Headcannons

→ When Lo’ak found out you couldn’t go with him, he first felt heartbroken, but then became angry. He shouted at his dad as to why you can’t go with them, but you knew it was best, and deep down so did he.

→ On the last day of being in pandora, he only wanted to spend it with you.

→ You both spent hours running freely around the forests, laughing with eachother, and enjoying eachothers company.

→ But when the final realisation hit the both of you, sadness once again washed over, and you both just layed beside eachother on the ground, taking in the last of each other’s presence.

→ Jake finds you both later that night huddled together, Lo’aks tail resting over your lower thigh, your head turned in towards his neck and his body securely turned in towards yours.

→ He brings you both back to the haven, where you both stay sound asleep.

→ When the time arrives in the morning, he does not want to leave you. But you reassure him its for the best.

→ “You cannot stay here for me”

→ “But I want to”

→ “Go, Lo’ak, I will come find you”

→ Lo’ak eventually goes with his family, knowing that you will stick to your word. You will come find him.

→ At first arrival of the Metkayina, Lo’ak felt unsafe without you.

→ He was at unease, and his family could tell.

→ Throughout his stay, from learning to control his lungs underwater, to losing Neteyam in the fight against the colonel, he needed you.

Short imagine

Lo’ak felt lost. After laying his brother with the ocean na’vis ancestors, he knew it was his home. It was a quiet day, him and his parents sitting in their home, as kiri and tuk played in the water.

As Lo’ak sat beside Jake, he saw something appear in the sky. It was a helicopter, from the labs back in pandora. Jake and Neytiri stood up, pulling the attention of the girls away from the water, and towards the sky.

Jake and Neytiri made their way to the shore, where all the clan were stood about cautiously, some with weapons raised. Jake nodded at Tonowari, and he ordered for his clan to lower their weapons. Lo’ak was still confused, and then it hit him.

You had come to find him.

Jake smiled down at his son with his hand on Lo’aks shoulder, as you stepped down from the helicopter, scanning the crowd for Lo’ak. Lo’ak swiftly pulled away from his dad and sprinted towards you at full speed.

Before you even had a chance to really look at the boy, he had you in his arms, his grasp tight around your body. He swung you around, not wanting to let you go. You laughed as he placed you back on the ground, you finally being able to look at him in the eyes, your hands placed loosely on his waist, his clinging to your forearms.

“You found me” Lo’ak said with a smile

“I found you” you replied

You gaze turned to the rest of the sully family, as Tuk ran towards you, Kiri not far behind.

“Y/N!” They both shouted, tackling you in a massive hug. Lo’ak is quick to put his arms beneath you to stablise you from the two excited girls, Tuk wrapping her arms around your legs. You softly smiled at Jake and Neytiri behind the girls heads, them smiling back.

Alternative endings, one may hurt more than the other

1. Once the girls got their hugs in and you were greeted and welcomed by the clan, Lo’ak pulled you away, to show you your new home. You were able to stay with them due to new technology that had been developed back at the lab, and he, and you, were both finally at peace.

2. You scanned the crowd of people once more, past Jake and Neytiri, your eyes failing to fall on the one person that was missing.

When you and your younger sister Tsireya were first introduced to the Omatikayas, you were set with the task of teaching the two brothers how to control their breathing. And it was only Tsireya who noticed the way the older boys eyes linger on you.

When you and your sister brought them to the water, Neteyam couldnt keep his eyes off of you.

“You are to learn to slow your breathing. It will increase your lung capacity and will help you under the water” you explained to the boys, knelt down beside your sister with them both facing you.

You move forwards towards Neteyam and sat in front of him. You gently placed a hand on his heart, and your other steadying him on his knee.

“Take control of your breathing. Let it not lead you, but lead it.”

Neteyam takes a deep breath, trying to cover how nervous he was with you being so close to him. His eyes are focused on you, the entire time.

“Your heartbeat is fast. Try and focus” You tell him, as you feel it racing beneath your hand.

“Sorry” he mumbles.

You are unaware of the smirk that is shared between Tsireya and Lo’ak, knowing that Neteyam’s heart is beating fast because of you. You grab a hold of Neteyam’s left hand with your right, trying to help him take control, but really only making it worse.

“Just breathe”

Neteyam starts to regain his focus on his lungs, and slowly decreases his heart rate. You eventually had both the boys in control of their lungs, and took them to the water.

Now you Tsireya, Neteyam, Lo’ak and both their sisters are in the water, you and your sister further ahead than the rest.

“Too fast, wait for us!” Tuktirey shouts to you both at the front.

You chuckle at the young girl, swimming towards her to pull her onto your back. She giggles as you swim ahead, the boys and kiri not far behind. Soon enough, you reach the open water.

“Now, trust your lungs, breathe from the lower, and swim.” You say, before ducking under water, and swimming of with Tsireya beside you. Tuk laughs and follows you both, and Kiri does the same with ease. Lo’ak and Neteyam share a look before following the rest of you.

You watched as the others explored the sea, taking it all in. Tuk was fascinated by the fish as they swiftly and safely swarmed around her, and Kiri’s eyes seemed to glisten under the creatures natural lights. Not like you’d seen before with any Otkayina. Lo’ak stayed with Tsireya by the corals, and your eyes fell on Neteyam, who seemed to not have control of himself, as he quickly shot up for water. You followed him to the surface.

“You must learn to trust your body” You say calmly to him, taking him by surprise as he turns to look at you.

“Trust me im trying” He says with a chuckle.

You grab a hold of both of his hands, steadying him.

“Breathe in” you instruct, taking a deep breath in through your nose. Neteyam is quick to do the same. You shut your eyes, and slowly pull him under the water, hands still clasped over his.

Once you are both fully submerged, you open your eyes, and he opens his to meet yours. You pull him deeper into the water, and bring him to a swarm of small blue creatures, in the shape of butterflies. They flutter around him in the water, and he smiles as the touch his arms. You smile at him and swim away further into the ocean, Neteyam swiftly following behind. You go up to surface, and wait for him. Neteyam appears in front of you, and wipes his face whilst laughing.

“That was amazing” he says, you smiling at him.

“See” you say.

“What?” Neteyam questions.

“Its all in here” you say, placing a hand on his chest, “It is in you.”

→ He loves asking you about earth, just because he simply loves your voice. He could sit and listen to you talk for HOURS.

→ He’s fascinated with the things you brought with you, especially your camera. You wanted to document your time on pandora, and when you brought it with you Lo’ak was hella confused.

→ At first you would just randomly wrap your arm around his neck to pull him into a selfie, it would kinda freak him out at first but he soon learnt to enjoy it, and he even took some photos of his own when you taught him how to use it.

→ He would always be taking photos of you on it. Not him and you. Just you. You would try to shy away from it but he would tease you into showing your face.

→ He would always be giving you piggy backs.

→ He is definitely shy around you still even though you are really close.

→ But at other times he will try to impress you, which usually ends up with Neteyam bullying him about it when you’re not around.

→ He teaches you how to spearfish like Jake taught him. He would hold your arm so that you aim right, and would blush at the contact.

→ It usually ends in you flicking him with water, and it turning into a full on water fight, with you dragging him into the water.

→ You also brought books with you along with your camera, and he always enjoys when you read one out loud to him, or simply just watching you read them from afar.

→ You both love watching the stars late at night, Jake and Neytiri usually find you asleep the next morning in the same place.

→ You get along with the whole sully clan really well, Tuk loves when you give her piggy backs around the haven.

→ Lo’ak doesnt always like when you speak to Neteyam, but forgets about it all when your attention is back on him.
