Test fitting!

I need to take in the shoulders about an inch on he outside each, lengthen the collar about 4 inches (technically it should be two pieces with interfacing so it stands up but i was just testing the one piece length), and i need to fold the sleeves in half, also with interfacing.

The back doesn’t hitch up like it did before, I think bc im actually wearing something underneath which is great, but after sewing the plackets i needed to stretch the jerkin to pin the plackets together so I’ll add an additional inch on either side of the back panels. Bottom is not hemmed or trimmed at all so it’s a bit weird.

While I find this print super ugly, it also lets me see where I can improve my pattern placement where the squares don't line up.

I’ll adjust the main pattern and give it another go!

After another test run I’ll try embroidering long sleeves with this lovely fabric to make Raphael’s doublet, then I’ll just have to get the money for fabric to make the blue jerkin.

had another fabric around that i was able to get all the pieces cut out of. i messed up on the top part of the back pattern and the bottom of the yoke pattern, but i can make due for now as it's pretty inconsequential. the yoke pattern is angular, kind of a bat shape. it sadly wont look like a bat when i put it together this time, but i can fix the pattern for next time.

now i just need to figure out some of the finer details like how to give the collar a stay pocket to keep sharp and figure out how im supposed to fold in the button placket.

i'll fiddle with it this weekend more. hopefully it'll be a completed shirt next week, we'll see!

i also have quite a bit of cloth, i remembered, for making raphael's doublet (the red part, not the blue jerkin). so i washed it and i'll try to cut out the pattern and embroider the sleeves.

Hmmmm a favorite line is tough, especially out of context....

"“There’s no love in this violence.”" (Tolerance) But I can't take total credit for it since I borrowed it from "There's no love in your punches" from Ichi the Killer.

I like little oneliners about pain or abuse that sound casual to the person its from but are absolute unhinged to anyone else.

My Wildest headcanon.......

i don't usually have super wild headcanons I don't think. Maybe my wildest would be that tiefling parents nuzzle their horns against their babies to calm them down as a way to both massage the head and horns as well as make a soothing grinding noise, and this carries into adulthood where tieflings will nuzzle/grind horns against loves ones' horns or nuzzle foreheads with hornless loved ones, it creates a nostalgic comfort for them.

What helps me focus when I write....

Putting on noise canceling headphones or earbuds but having either no sound (drowns out ambient noises in my home I don't like + i like the comfort of something on my head/over my ears), or i put on no-talking ASMR and/or synthetic ambient noise. I can't do music when i write, I get distracted by either lyrics or the tempo if its instrumental. But I like music for drawing.

RIP I ran out of fabric…… I was able to cut everything out except the two front panels……

First test!! It’s such an ugly ass fabric but i have So Much of it.

Just the body, no sleeves or collar yet. They’re cut out but I didn’t feel like rethreading my machine lmao. Having a mannequin now is so fucking good.

I need to take in the shoulder parts, you can see they spill over my actual shoulders.

There’s a weird scrunch in the back. I believe I need to trim the back panels under the arms/pits to fix it, or potentially trim the bottom of the backs panels. Maybe both. I can experiment.
