So I want to share with you that I decided to rewrite one of my favourite stories. Originally I orphaned this work, so I give here a proof that this story is mine. The first chapter was posted in April 2020, so almost four years ago! I miss it so much and I know it can be much better now. I reread it and found a lot of mistakes and inconsistencies that I want to fix.

So soon I'll post it as The brighter sun and the easier lays (remastered)

Maylor55: fifty-five years of the best brothers brothering and bickering like an old married couple, can’t live with him can’t live without him, pair of bandmates ever to band.

Sliding Doors: After the 90s Gwynneth Paltrow movie. It’s such a random coincidence that Les Brown saw Brian’s notice advertising for a drummer and mentioned it to Roger. What if he hadn’t seen the notice? What if he hadn’t mentioned it to Roger? Would the fates still have aligned to bring them together? Or would an astrophysicist and a dentist once have sat randomly side by side in the stands at Live Aid and felt a strange frisson?

O brother where art thou?

First time 

“Cast adrift amongst the stars/I float from sun to sun”

“his partner in Edwardian scarves” the Liverpool Echo about Freddie and Roger 

#Smiliversary: Fifty-five years since Brian and Tim placed an advert for a ‘Mitch Mitchell-type’ drummer on a noticeboard and Roger blew Brian’s mind by tuning the drums.

Age difference: there are only a few years between Brian and Roger, but the difference between a fresher just up from the provinces and a graduate student from London is massive…

He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother 

Second chance 

“Yesterday my life was in ruins”

“when you are a prisoner of your own hair” Roger about Brian 

#Meetiversary: again it doesn’t look like there is an exact date but Brian and Roger had definitely met Freddie within a few weeks of Roger joining Smile.

Myths and legends: Roger comes from Cornwall, land of Arthurian legend and mischievous pixies. Maybe he really is the Once And Future Drummer, maybe Brian’s imagination runs riot…

So... I'm back?

Kind of.

I've been really active in the Queen fandom from 2019 to 2021, but after that I had an identity crisis and I was feeling very overwhelmed with the amount of things I put myself to write on Ao3 and I kind of freaked out. But lately I've been reading other fics and watching videos and I miss this so much.

I want to reconnect with the people that are still active and also meet the new people who arrived to the fandom! So I hope I can find you all again.
