Let’s not forget that when Jane Eyre, an ugly duckling of her time, fell in love with Mr. Rochester, who is 20 years older than her, she drew a portrait of herself making sure she painted every single flaw then drew a picture of the most beautiful woman she could think of, and every time she felt even a tad of affection towards Mr. Rochester, she got out these two paintings and stared at them for a long time.
