Locke raises an eyebrow, almost asking again if Shadow was joking, but maybe he's already making a fool of himself, so he decides to not do it. After all, there's so much to talk about to think about. No one knows how this will end, but Locke wants to remain optimistic. After all they managed to survive the end of the world. All of them are still alive. It means so much to the treasure hunter. He believes in their chances against Kefka. They will need to be well prepared though, of course. "I agree with you. We need to think properly about these groups. Making sure we can all play our part, and making sure the group is well balanced..." Locke wants Celes with him, though, but he decides to keep that thought to himself. Anyway, everyone surely is aware of the fact that they'll want to be in the same team.

"Sure. Let's agree to disagree." He lets a brief chuckle escape his mouth. He doesn't know what Shadow had gone through, of course, but Locke still can tell it was something major. But trusting no one the way Shadow does... For him, it really isn't a way to live. Without people to care about, without friends or family, life is pointless, meaningless. Finding the group again while he was inside the Phoenix Cave... it truly has meant the world to him. He thought they were all dead, but they weren't. It has made him so happy.

He shrugs, keeping a smirk to his lips. "Well thanks. I'm glad it can help." He then hesitates a bit. He knows he won't change Shadow's mind, but the ninja must at least care a bit about some people in the group, right ? Or maybe it's just how Locke thinks. For him, it's impossible to not care at all, even if he tries. "As long as we work together as a team, I'm sure we have our chances against Kefka. We have things he can't understand. That's where we're stronger than he is."

It was dry humor at best, but to hear Locke actually question it being humorous makes Shadow stubbornly avoid answering him directly——however, he will continue using his dry humor by replying with, ❝  If you have time to quip around, then you can afford time to prepare for the landing.  ❞ He does not chuckle back. True, Locke’s charisma and teasing is probably what helps strengthen the party’s rapport with each other, but Shadow never quite considered himself a true member of this team. After all, a true team member wouldn’t keep insisting that he needs to be paid for his services, but he does have to rely on them to defeat Kefka, so they’re allies at best to him. People with a common goal. ❝  If we are splitting into groups, it’s best to divide evenly based on our skills and strengths. You and I should be in different groups since your speed is highly valued, and that’s good if we need to conduct reconnaissance.  ❞ It’s not so much praise as it is an objective assessment of the treasure hunter’s abilities from what Shadow has observed. 

Shadow falls silent for a bit, mulling. Indeed, there has to be at least a sliver of trust between him and everyone else in order for him to stick around for so long. Despite always reminding them about his fee payment, Shadow never went out of his way to forcibly make them hand over the money——because there was already some trust established by then. ❝  I have my views, and you have yours,  ❞ he compromises, acknowledging that they are different / but after that, he hardens his face, brows furrowing, though it would be unnoticeable with his mask. ❝  Dying a noble way is a waste if you both end up dead anyway.  ❞ Either you survive and live with the burdens and trauma, or you die together. What’s the point? Shadow [ Clyde ] never quite understood it, why people want to live so badly / why people want to die so badly if it’s for someone else. 

❝  But your foolish optimism will at least inspire others to think the same,  ❞ he amends, passively. Although he does not agree with everything, Shadow can at least respect Locke for thinking the way he thinks. A world cannot function without people who have hope. ❝  In a bleak world like this, that’s a good thing.  ❞

There's a blog named @/fucktrpc that's putting posts of dead animals in tags used for rpc. I'd recommend blocking that blog asap as they seem to be a troll blog looking to get some sick kicks.

take your time. write when you can. anyone who pressures you to write faster, sooner, or immediately doesn't deserve what you're going to write. friends, mutuals, and other writers know that things come at their own pace. it's okay to be excited for things, but never feel that it means you have to rush. let it take a day, a week, or a month even... but never feel that you have to do something quickly just to meet a "quota". there is no quota when this is all meant to be fun. enjoy your hobby, it's not a job.

✿‧̥ please interact with your mutuals ! this isn't to say always be writing or feel rushed in responses. but it's the little things that can make someone's day. if you see a meme on the dash , take a quick second to send it over. if you happen to see someone's post about something like headcanons or something they're celebrating ooc, take just the smallest second to like it. the rpc runs on us interacting with each other , it's so important. so don't be afraid to reach out there and interact with your mutuals.

Mmmh that's a good question! I wouldn't kill the character I'm writing in a thread unless the character actually dies and it's a retelling of that said death. It's just not something I think I'd enjoy. And I also want to stay in character as much as I can, I love canon so I want to respect it as much as possible. So I guess I won't write my characters ooc for the sake of a plot for example!

you cannot get over the past. you are constantly remembering, never forgetting. you cant live in the moment because the moment is not what brought you here. you are birthed, raised, and killed in the past. you will never get over what was done to you, be it big or be it small. you cannot escape what you refuse to confront.

when they're sleeping

it's not just the way they're at rest. it's that they're at rest with you. it's not just that they're safe but that they feel safe enough to let you see them like this. it's trust and it's intimacy. and you're not sure you're ready for them to see the emotions in your eyes right now. they've been through enough. you both have. sometimes it scares you just how much you love them. it terrifies you that you feel happy as they lay there, eyes closed and hair a little messy. their features twitch and you know they're dreaming and it scares you because if you fall asleep too you won't have a nightmare tonight. you'll dream of them. or nothing at all. and either way it will make you need them more. and you're not supposed to need anyone but it's them. you want to hold them in your arms and never let go. you want to protect them but you know they want to protect you too. this is the kind of love you long for and it's the kind which will hurt if you lose it. but here you are anyway. it's too late now. you're glad it's too late to go back.
