okay hiiiii everyone ♥ this is my quick ramble about Synthesis AU !! mostly just important details in bulletpoint format bc idk where to really start but!! yea.

Please send questions if you want to know anything specific!!! i have many disconnected thoughts swirling around in my head

edit: if i don't post this now i'll just keep nitpicking it, so take this

canon "compliant" in the sense of "not much changes in the big plot points" so far? the obvious, most important change is just that kale & pep are not human—

—they are synths created by roxanne & @kitsunegdx's OC ika! bc i love ika. roxy & ika work together in the project that is "making synthetic children." in my mind it's kind of similar the "building a child" process in that movie Robots... of course it'd circle back to that movie

^ (synthetic or not, though, they are still her children and roxanne loves them dearly.)

roxanne tries her best to give kale some kind of adolescence, but it's... kind of a huge failure. considering he was the first made, a big chunk of his "childhood memories" are entirely fabricated to cover up the constant trial-and-error that went into his making, and others have details changed or muddled to make him feel more human.

^ (ie, an instance of fixing his chassis or his code changed to be him going to the doctor or something.)

^ this memory-fabrication is used sparingly with peppermint, if it's used at all? she has a different make-up due to being the 2nd child; r&i have much more experience with what they're trying to do, and more resources at their disposal by the time they start on her.

as of game plot, kale knows he's not human. he's known for a while, and his resentment for roxanne partly fuelled his creation* of SPECTRA.

^ kale resents peppermint too, but for different reasons— she's the baby sibling, the special one, the perfect daughter, the one that got to be more human than he did, the one who had more of a real life... need i go on?

^ tldr; kale is so angry deep into his core... and because of this i will proceed to put him in situations:)

peppermint, on the other hand, does not know she isn't human, and probably only finds out during the late-game plot. the revelation kind of fucks up her view of herself, even if she tries not to show it.

^ it's okay though, chai is there and he's going to make things worse better!

i think about this from time to time, but i do hella appreciate the (one or two) animators who gave Korsica very thick eyebrows in the 2D cutscenes. It looks good heh
