Reptiles and Things
1K posts
My name is Sean, and I currently keep a fairly diverse collection of reptiles, amphibians, and fish. I tend to focus on less common species, and while most of my collection consists of various small fish, frogs, and geckos, my true passion lies with monitor lizards.

That client has some freshwater tanks too, the Vermillion Gobies are settling into their 75 very well. All the males are staking out territories while the females swell up with eggs.

Some photos of a new client's reef for you all. It's about two months in, and it's looking absolutely phenomenal. That rainbow Symphyllia is going nuts.

Okay, so.
I wasn’t actually going to say anything about Sasha passing for a while, I don’t know, I wasn’t ready to talk about it. I’m still pretty F’d up over it when I think about it, and it only happened about 6 weeks ago. But I had an opportunity to pick up THE ultimate dream fish of mine last week, so I kind of had to so this wouldn’t be so… out of the blue.
I wasn’t exactly ready, but I’m no idiot either when he was being offered at a very good price, and local. I was actually planning on waiting 1-2 years until after a move (might be moving 30 min away) to get another eel, but… things obviously happened. Sometimes when the dream presents itself you have to go for it.
I absolutely. 1000%. Love him. He’s a little BABY, and he has the most beautiful teeth in all the world. I’ve been wanting a Japanese Dragon Moray since I was 12, and he’s everything I had hoped so far. Meet Ferdinand von Eel.
Enchelycore pardalis (See why my character name in games is usually Enchely? And why my blog title here is Core? I’m obsessed.)

They're shy so pictures are hard, but I finally got my hands on some Harlequin Lancer Cats (Bagroides melapterus), been chasing this species for a couple years now. Had a line on some last year but their box got crushed on the way from Indonesia. I've finally got two 5-6" specimens now though, hopefully some more will come in soon. They're settling into the temporary Borneo tank nicely, holed up under the wood with the swarm of tiger eels. One of the Betta unimaculata decided to put in an appearance as well, cute little buggers.

Hey all, haven’t really posted here in a while but here are some pics from work, having fun with the big boi. Life is good, working on several upgrades both with the reptiles and the fish, and have some exciting new projects too. I’ll get around to posting that all eventually but for now, here you go.

Man, I haven't posted anything here in forever. Here are some of the newly added Horseface Loaches snuffling around their tank for copepods this morning.
Funny story with these guys, they came in much smaller and skinnier than I expected (<2") while the Chinese cyprinids they came in with were much larger than expected (>5"). They had to go in the same quarantine tank and after the first week I saw no sign of the Loaches at all. I assumed they must have gotten munched on. A couple months go by and I finally got around to pulling the other stuff out, and lo and behold all six loaches were still there, buried in the quarter inch of sand and four times larger than they were originally. They're much happier and more active now that they're not in such a barren tank.

Aquashella was a blast, easily exceeded my expectations. Hung out with some friends, got some good food, and obviously snagged some neat stuff for myself. A nice group of true petricolas, a pair of Rio Otapa swordtails, some well started mangrove seedlings, and several nice art prints. I'll post plenty of pics when I'm back in Houston.

Well that didn't take long. 🤷 This client's tank has only been up and running for about two months and the Synspilum are already going at it.

All the Tiger Eels are settling in well, managed to get all six of them in this picture last night. Most of their driftwood is still floating just out of view, they'll have a lot more hiding spots once that all sinks in a few days. Also added another round of leaf litter this morning so there's very little exposed sand anymore.
