Maru's Wall of Heroes (again. For how many times now?? I've lost count, I'm milking this Wall anyway). I already talked about how the pictures were grouped and the reference each aircraft alludes to (sans Nick, he have his own post. Two actually, unless I'm missing some), so let's talk about the difference between the concept and final versions!

Concept (The Art of Planes) ▾

Basically the three helicopters were kept as is, but both planes were adjusted. And by "adjusted" I meant the middle one was entirely replaced.

Top left framed picture of Grumman S-2 Tracker (with CalFire (CDF) livery I must note) was zoomed in, and the call sign number was changed from 82 to 87. Call sign "82" still got used tho.

Middle one, Martin JRM Mars (call sign number 55), was replaced by a C-130 (call sign number 82, see? still used). This change have more meat for discussion so;

The current largest aircraft at PPAA is Cabbie. (Windlifter is a strong contender but he's still built like a stick in comparison so) Cabbie's wingspan (or C-119 in general) is about 33 m. The wingspan of a JRM Mars almost doubles that with ~61 m.

I'd say it's safe to assume most of the base's structure probably can't house an aircraft that big, considering C-119 have about 8 m in height while a JRM Mars is 15 m tall when beached.

C-130 on the other hand have about 40 m wingspan and ~12 m in height. Still would be bigger than Cabbie, but at least I'd believe they could be housed on base. (if they couldn't fit through main hangar's entrance, out in the open lol)

Googling told me a fully loaded C-130 requires about 914 m distance for take off and at least 762 m for landing. But I don't know how long the runway on Air Attack base actually is. Would've been much easier if I have consistent scale to work with.

Basically the absolute unit of JRM Mars was replaced by smaller, but still big, C-130.

"But Sou, the planes' livery suggest they don't belong to PPAA!" to that I ask; do you know how much cost, effort, and time required to strip and repaint aircraft?? Even Cabbie still have his "US Air Force" paint. (Sure, he could've just kept it for the sentiment, but he still didn't have it repaint like new either.)

Anyway, the fact that the S-2 Tracker was a CalFire tanker before PPAA just gave me more validation to make Blade's firefighting career starts off from CalFire.
