If you've ever dreamed of building an actual and functional Windows 95 PC inside Minecraft it's time to do it. A new VM Computers mod has been created for Minecraft that lets players order computer parts from a satellite orbiting around the Minecraft world, and then build an actual computer that boots Windows 95 and a variety of other operating systems.

The mod uses VirtualBox, free and open-source virtual machine software, to run operating systems like Windows 95. It is easy to place an PC block in Minecraft and use it to create virtual hard disks to install operating systems using ISO files.

Naturally the Minecraft community has been testing with the VM Computers mod and some have managed to get Doom running in Minecraft as a result. There will be more experiments, especially if people build multiple computers to run different operating systems within Minecraft. You can even play Minecraft using Minecraft. xwcb

The process of getting Windows 95 and Doom running is the ultimate test for any mod or hack. Windows 95 has been tested on an Xbox One, an Apple Watch and even as an application that you can download and install on macOS and Windows. Could Minecraft run Crysis though?
