So I see the term found family trope used a lot, especially in heist media, to describe the team as a family basically coming together and working with each other. But let me say that the BEST instance I have ever seen for found family in heists has got to be the Ocean’s Eleven franchise. These movies went above and beyond with the characters and character development, and I could talk for hours about this, but I’ll summarize to the best of my ability.

Ocean’s Eleven/Twelve/Thirteen are amazingly found family trope-centric.

Because first of all it starts out with the standard “getting people together for this impossible heist” thing, but the grab bag of people is so perfect. There are old friends of Danny Ocean’s that he’s clearly known for a long time (Frank, Saul, Reuben, Basher) and newer people that he may know only by association (Livingston, Yen, Linus) which sets up some excellent character dynamics. And like a lot of heists I’ve seen, I expected this to go into the “dudes with their respective skills do their thing and then part ways” usual ending, but it’s different somehow, because the team basically starts to shift into various familial roles.
