Idea! Instead of the whole begging to live thing (or possibly after), prowl is resigned to dying, he's accepted that he's been betrayed one final time and it's just- he's glad it's Jazz. Even though Jazz lied to him and betrayed him. He's glad it's Jazz, of everyone he knows. Some part of him is glad that the last face he sees is someone he's grown to love

Hey i was just wondering, like i was going through the portal au and just noticed

Do...do the autobots know Prowl has a body, technically? Like, that's their size???? Or does Prowl just show up one day and jumpscare them like the one robot from Wall-E (or donnie and his spiderleg thingies or MOMU Jazz when he drops from the ceiling like he likes to do)

OMG ACTUALLY It would be REALLY fucking funny if they didn’t instantly know that he has human-like body. Soooo so many possibilities for stupid situations haha

They arrive at the complex and Prowl is like “I am helping them but I am NOT trusting them.” and proceeds to so everything with moving doors/panels/manipulators. Because his “avatar” is packed with really important things and also contains all the weak spots. So. Only Jazz is allowed to come near him at first. Everyone else naturally assume that Prowl is like a program uploaded somewhere on the normal computer haha

*Eats the pickle* I think in terms of fandom experience IDW Prowl is the worst Prowl out there. He got the Earthspark Starscream treatment at least two times. You can't really discuss his character development because it develops in new direction every week (exaggeration. But still.)

His villain ark would be a lot better if all the writers talked to each other at least once and agreed on how to write him. Sins of the Wreckers Prowl has one personality and literally one day later he shows up in the finale of mtmte and it's a completely different guy.

Sometimes he is serious and logical but still kind and sometimes he is straight up an asshole who makes jokes about his people being tortured and this change of behavior is impossible to discuss or understand because the writers clearly didn't discuss or understand it either.

Every time I see someone go "I love him look at him caring for his friends" I think yeah that tracks. And every time someone goes "I fucking hate that cop he doesn't care about his actions affecting everyone involved" I also think that. Yeah. That tracks too. Can't defend him. What a dick.

IDW Prowl is a writing disaster haha

Therefore. It is impossible to navigate the fandom without seeing someone hating on him and then seeing other people complaining about the haters.

I can imagine the best Prowl in terms of fandom experience would be Animated but I don't really go there so I don't know haha

I have more thoughts about voltron pjo au.

Ik i posted the first one in the community blog thing but I don't like how my posts dont show up on my profile so im doing it the old fashioned way.

Ik I mentioned Keith is an Enyo kid, reason being: he seems very much like someone who would be tempted (or would?) Join Luke, as a child of a minor god himself. He'd have to be used to sleeping on the ground, he'd probably look at his friends and think: "they deserve more."

I also had the passing thought of: what if KEITH was the Aphrodite kid. Because, well, Keith cares a lot, he loves hard. The man has love spilling out of his fucking ears, if you know where to look. (I also just want an excuse to let Keith be really pretty) but figured it doesn't fit his character enough compared to Lance.

(Sidenote but I like to think Hestia becomes his patron, as a compromise.)

Him being an Enyo kid, i feel like gives him a genuinely really compelling story route. I suppose, you could compare it to Ethan Nakamura.

Much like his original self, he leaves the main cast for another. For this au, he joins Luke at some point, desiring a better fate for his friends. Of course, he comes back to them eventually, much to their joy and wariness in equal measure. (Also im really sorry if my thoughts arent cohesive/makes sense, im in the middle of a lecture half listening rn)

As for the Hestia patronage, I feel like he would enjoy her company by the hearth. She's quiet and feels safe and doesn't push his boundaries. She'd take a shining to him, i think. For all the voltron fandom calls him standoffish, he really isn't. It's mostly by the goading of Lance, but that's a whole different thing. Keith is actually pretty polite honestly. Hestia having patronage over him would involve things like: perpetual warmth, he finds home wherever there is a hearth, he belongs. And I think he'd find it best. (Maybe that's why he leaves luke's army idk, maybe she'd convince him) Let’s say, Hestia offered him patronage before he left for Luke's army, I genuinely don't think she, of all people, would abandon him. I think that was the catalyst to get him to come back.

Pidge - Hermes

NOW IK A LOT OF YOU SAY SHE’S A DAUGHTER OF HEPHAESTUS (or Athena), HOWEVER I want you to look me in the eye, and tell me this girl isn't a Hermes kid. (Also isn't he the god of technology too?) She gives me big Hermes kid vibes. Tho i feel like that's a dangerous combo. Tho I will concede she'll probably spend a lot of time with the Hephaestus kids.

Hunk - Hephaestus/Apollo(?)

Okay well, Hunk is probably a Hephaestus kid, genuinely I can't think of any other god (atleast rn) that would fit his character. Apollo, maybe.

Lance - Aphrodite

Are we surprised? No. Look at him. He's an Aphrodite kid.

Allura - (legacy(?)) Belladona/Virtus/Nerio

Alright I'm going to be so fr, I don't really know Allura so, but as far as I can tell, she has this fiery passion to her that seems to fit the war gods. But lowkey I could see Allura being roman, Bellona, perhaps? But that might be the Reyna influence. I could also see her being a legacy of Virtus (god of bravery and millitary strength) or Nerio (personification of valor) It would also allow for her to feel more "alien" as she's from a different pantheon.

Coran - legacy of Apollo(?)

I- I have no fucking clue for this guy. This is just a shot in the dark. He's still Roman tho.

Shiro - Ares

Similar to Allura, he has this passion to him that fits. However unlike Allura or Keith, Shiro feels very much like he should be part of the main 12. I'm not entirely sure how to explain the thought process. It's just vibes. Another thing is, I kind of want him to be the Ares cabin counsellor purely because people tend to paint Ares as rude and brutish and horrible when that's not true. He's actually a pretty stand up guy and I want to reflect that in Shiro. And war is something Shiro knows, the fight is something he's intimately familiar with. But even then he is kind. Even when war is not. I want the son of war to teach these kids something good, because he is. I want him to fight so they don't have to. )I'll probably yap more about him later.) Another thing is I want the broganes to actually have moments. They're so similar yet so different. Their parents basically have the same domains. It presents too many opportunities for me, as a broganes enthusiast, for me to pass up.

You know, I know people like to joke about "what if the ent-wives were actually in the shire" but like, i just started reading the fellowship and lowkey it seems like a genuine possibility. Of course, it's entirely possible that that's just plain how tolkien writes trees and i just dont know it but idk man. With the way the trees are just straight up trying to murder merry and pippin makes me think this theory could actually be true. Eitherway, i want more fanfics with this concept

Rereading the Lord of the Rings series recently, and it's so fascinating to me how much the series is a denial of the typical juvenile power-fantasy that is associated with the fantasy genre.

Like, the power-fantasy is the temptation the Ring uses against people It tempts Boromir with becoming the "one true king" that could save his people with fantastic power. It tempts Sam with being the savior of Middle Earth and turning the ruin that is Mordor into a great garden. It tempts Gandalf and Galadriel with being the messianic figure of legend who brings salvation to Middle Earth and great glory to herself.

The things the Ring tempts people with are becoming the typical protagonists of fantasy stories that we expect to see. and over and over we see that accepting that role, that fantasy of being the benevolent all-powerful hero, is a bad thing. LotR is about how power, even power wielded with benevolent intent, is corrupting.

And its so fascinating how so much of modern fantasy buys into the very fantasy LotR denies. Most modern fantasy is about being that Heroic power-fantasy. About good amassing power to rival evil. But LotR dares not to. It dares to be honest that there is no world where anyone amasses that power and remains good.

I guess that's one of the reasons its so compelling.

I do love that in Rohan culture, it seems that it's the custom for men to go out and fight and die heroically, and for women to honour their sacrifice by crying over their bodies or at their funerals. The men are to be brave, the woman to be loving. The men are to do great things. The women are to remember.

But in the film, whereas Eowyn's most iconic moment is her slaying of the Witch King, a great, heroic deed that cements her place in history, Eomer's most iconic moment is (arguably) his guttural scream when he sees Eowyn dead on the ground, dropping to his knees and cradling her to his chest.

Not only is Eowyn's most iconic moment a scene in which she takes on, by her culture's definition, the man's role, the most important role of a man, to die heroically, Eomer's most iconic moment is when he takes on the "woman's" role, to grieve.

I do love his "Death!" charge in the books so much, but because of this parallel between the siblings, I also love the film version where there is no battle for him to fight, no justice for him to wreak, there's nothing for him to do but cradle Eowyn to his chest and rock her back and forth.
