Ademie Nomtul:

1. Does your OC have any motifs? Ademie's primary motifs are lambs/sheep, the color red, the number 5, and secondarily, dolls/childrens' toys. >>Lambs/sheep: Obviously there's the rustblood/Aries/sheep association, but Ademie is also a bit of a black sheep. >>The color red, particularly darker red: This is due to her being a rustblood, a trait that is extremely relevant to her entire everything. >>The number 5: It is what her typing quirk is based around and she was 5 sweeps old when she got culled. >>Dolls/childrens' toys: This is not as heavy of a motif for her as it is for her fellow cullee and flushed crush Meiloa Zartan, but it is still worth mentioning. Beforan culling is very infantilizing by its nature, and Ademie's abuse led to her maturing - or seeming to mature - rather quickly. She struggles with allowing herself to be a child and not forcing herself to act as an adult, and a doll of hers ends up being a physical symbol of this struggle.

2. Describe your character's voice. Do they have a voice claim? Ademie's voice is rather interesting for me to talk about because her speech is heavily affected by Beforan geopolitics compared to other characters. She has a thick accent she typically masks because she has enough reasons for people not to take her seriously WITHOUT adding on a noticeable stigmatized accent. She doesn't have a voice claim but the Earth equivalent to her accent is an Appalachian accent. 28. Is your OC a dog or cat person? Cat. I don't have any evidence or detailed analysis i just know this to be true.

2. Describe your character's voice. Do they have a voice claim? Elliso is very quiet, slow, and careful with her speech. They started transitioning early enough for her voice to not need much training, but she tries very hard to make sure that any flaws she perceives are ironed out in front of those she's not close to and don't know they're trans. When she's more comfortable with someone, she's louder and talks more similarly to the way she types.

10. What kind of music do they enjoy? She generally favors slower music... she'd enjoy lo-fi, ambient noise, soundscapes, things like that. I could also see her listening to those long relaxing polyrhythm videos. While thinking about this I decided I might as well make a playlist for music she'd listen to in case i find anything that fits in the future. This is the first song I put on it.

15. Who is your OC's best friend? Sakhee Evrein, our resident cerulean Knight of Space! They met via an engineering forum and were delighted to learn that they lived pretty close by internet standards: they're in the same city, although her neighborhood is further in while he's in the suburbs. Sometimes they collaborate on projects because Ells is better with software and Sakhee is better with mechanics. Sakhee is the one person she trusts with knowledge of her plans for her future, and Elliso is the one person he trusts with the knowledge that he is trans.

She can't tell him everything, though...

One weird experience of transitioning is failing at ur assigned gender role the whole time and everyone constantly deriding you for it but then u come out and it's like we lost a beautiful gender conforming warrior today. Must grieve for my wonderful child who pissed me off by being ugly and weird since day 1

one concept im super into is that like. being a vampire is hard. there are ways to make this easier, but those mostly involve joining a coven. so young vampires are vulnerable to being preyed on (ha!) by the coven system and locked into a society created by people older and richer and much better connected.

like. getting a job is hard bc your movement is restricted during the day. the covens have agreements in place with multiple people across multiple industries. they can help you get a job that is remote work or night shift, but you have to join the coven (agree to abide by their rules and participate in their conflicts with other covens) and also agree to give them ten percent of your earnings.

finding food (assuming you’re a moral person who doesn’t want to kill people) is hard. you can eat animals. you can attack people and feed on them without killing them, which is assault. you can try and buy donated human blood from hospitals. but guess who controls most of the black market human blood trade and doesn’t want to sell it to you at a fair price? it’s the covens! also, the covens have arrangements with people they drink from directly, so it’s not like they need the human blood, but being in control of the trade gives them a lot of power in the community.

a lot of times, your options as a vampire are: live in a beautiful, luxurious base where you get free food and accommodations, are able to get a job, have protection from hunters, and have people around that you can talk to, OR, live in poverty, isolation, and fear. covens as organized crime families where it’s really, really hard not to join one of them.
