I always forget there’s a pause between Harry throwing Sirius on the floor and Remus actually showing up. And it’s silent almost the entire time.

Truly, the second Harry tells Sirius that Harry has memories of his mother being murdered…Sirius stops trying to argue with him or protest Harry’s actions at all. He doesn’t have anything else to even SAY, he just…stops. A whole year of planning, and Peter is right there…and Sirius stops and looks at Harry and waits. He doesn’t speak again until the end of the chapter, well into Remus coming in and establishing how he got there.

And it’s maybe one of the top five most Tragic moments in the whole series tbh. There’s this moment where Harry thinks he’s looking in the eyes of someone who betrayed his parents…and he can’t quite bring himself to even avenge them. And Sirius is looking at the child of James and Lily—who thinks Sirius is an absolute Monster of a person—and he can’t argue with Harry, because Sirius blames himself so much for their deaths. So they are just Staring at each other, waiting for Harry to decide what he’s going to do. Sirius hands over the anger in the scene to Harry…compared to what happened to Harry, what right does Sirius have to be angry? To demand any kind of hearing? He genuinely doesn’t have any words.

And not to go FULL emo, but that’s one thing Sirius always gave Harry…the sense that Harry could feel what he felt. That Harry has the right to emotions that could be heard out. Because Sirius knows what Harry has suffered, and he continues to gives him a voice in processing what that means. (So does Remus, in a different, more structured way).

Y'all up here acting like Snape spent his entire life in Danger because of his spywork? No. He joined the Death Eaters willingly after Hogwarts and only worked as a Spy for about 9 months (probably shorter) during the 1st war and then 3 years during the 2nd war. He had a nice, comfortable life inbetween under Dumbledore’s protection at Hogwarts. He was the only one to blame for any discomfort and unhappiness he experienced in those almost 14 years of safety. He was bitter and decided take it out on the rest of the world.

You know who did brave a horrible life full of loneliness, poverty, negligence and cruelty at the hands of those who wrongly feared and marginalized him? Remus Lupin. Who by the way also worked as a Spy for Dumbledore by living among werewolves (including the man who bit him) who supported Voldemort. Note, he LIVED among these werewolves. Always in danger of being torn apart and murdered on the spot, whereas most of Snape’s spylife involved him sulking around Hogwarts tormenting kids… Safe. And Remus lost EVERYTHING…but he smiled. Always smiled. Always put others first and never took anything for granted. It took tremendous amounts of bravery for Remus to just go about everyday life.

But no Snape’s the bravest of them all. I’m not bitter.

but just imagine sirius putting his head in the fire to talk to harry and then remus walking past him, glancing up, and coming to a stop because dammit sirius’s ass is wonderfully squeezable. and then sirius just turns and says “meet me upstairs in 10” with a smirk, and continues talking to his godson. and then of course, harry, being the oblivious person he is, thinks to himself, they must be doing arts and crafts up there.
