STUDIO UPDATE; 11.10.16 This week, I got a bunch of logistical stuff done for my show. Ordered show cards, vinyl, got installation materials. We also put all our posters up in the courtyard yay! Lastly, I did continue to work on dyed things, smaller pieces to be assembled into big surfaces.

CRITIQUE DOCUMENTATION; 10.25.16
This is the work we discussed in my critique today. It flows from the same conceptual framework as the larger work which will be in my show, but the process and manifestation is much more intuitive and personal, in ways. I allow myself to be immersed in the making rather than tethered tightly to an idea. That said, the grid for meaning-making remains in these works, albeit slightly distorted. I am noticing more and more how important the grid is in the process of my work, but I’m not sure yet how important it is in the final work, the actual finished form.

STUDIO UPDATE; 10.14.16 This week I practiced some sewing, planning to implement this more in my practice, a sort of patchwork quilting process. I also worked on some show materials, some artist research/essaying. Lastly, I attended the Human Condition exhibition. Which was extremely heavy, loaded with meaning and through provoking images.

STUDIO UPDATE; 10.6.16
I have no photos for this week because I decided on Thursday to take everything off of the walls to give myself a clean slate. I rolled up some older work that I was not feeling invested in or relevant anymore, in order to make room for those things that I do feel interested in. I am at a crossroads in painting 3 trying to decide what I’d like to proceed with working on. I think I will return to dye on canvas but explore more manifestations of stitching in the work.
The show is progressing well. Both my crit in class and my short studio visit with Josie Brown were very helpful in furthering the work, pushing it further potentially. I will be working on dying the string used to hang the pieces, as well as considering more options for the orientation of the work. I also worked on show materials. I think I will use a 4x9 card to hold an image of the work, the title and dates(aka promotional card) and include the statement and image list on the back.

CRITIQUE DOCUMENTATION: 10.04.16
Here you can see 4 of the works I plan to present in my show, experimenting with the presentation strategy and the distance from the wall. In the critique we discussed the string and the way it is attached to the canvas, as well as the way the string drapes off of the ceiling. We also talked about the way the two sides relate, titling strategies, and show title.

STUDIO UPDATE; 09.29.16 This week I continued to work on some painting experiments. I had a studio visit with Jon Anderson. I talked to him about grad school also. I finished another panel. I procured materials to hang work for my crit Tuesday. I also worked on my statement, including some editing after our conversation about it on Thursday night. Many different things.
