-- { outofbetas; wow, look, i'm not totally dead ~ i'm actually on vacation in maine right now. and via some testing on a new blog, i think i found a tag setup i like. i'm more than likely doing to be deleting this blog ONLY TO REMAKE IT IN A MUCH MORE ORGANIZED FASHION. because that's about 75% of the reason i've floated away. this blog irks me so. i'm gonna get everything prepped on a sort of retainer blog, delete this one, then change the url.
and to those silly people who are crazy enough to still be following my sorry ass: bless your faces. c: }

hings i said i was going to do but never did until now part two >> derek hale's how to train your werewolf featuring jackson.
"So that’s it? You’re just going to let me loose on the full moon?"
"Yup."
"No restraints, no threats, nothing?"
"You’ll be fine. You won’t have a problem with it."
"What are you talking about? I already feel like I’m going to go out of my freakin’ mind."
"You have a strong anchor: the need to impress, the desire to be better than anyone else. You want to impress me, you’re going to keep it under control."

things i said i was going to do but never did until now part one >> derek hale's how to train your werewolf featuring jackson.
"Jackson, you have to trust your senses. There’s no getting around it."
"I’m trying. It’d be much more successful if you weren’t looming behind me like a wild bear.”
"It’d be more successful if you actually trusted yourself. But that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong.”
" … … … Shut up."

The effect was instantaneous, arms securing themselves solidly around Jackson's waist, pulling the younger in close. His nose buried itself into the crook of his mate's neck, breath coming out in shaky sputters against his skin. Derek knew he needed to be strong and supportive, to stand as the pillar, though his arms were nearly trembling from waves of relief. Jackson had been virtually dead to the world, though the sleep had been anything but restful. That much he could tell, just from watching him.
It had terrified him.

All but collapsing into Derek’s body, Jackson’s arms anchored themselves around the older’s neck and let his fingers curl into the black fabric of his mate’s shirt. He was, for lack of a better phrase, completely torn apart. After shutting down like he had, nightmares of his days as the Kanima held him in sleep, unable to break himself from that state until it had all played out. Maybe if he’d been less of an obnoxious brat before, it wouldn’t have happened.
Old habits, and all that.

The time of day -- or night, really -- was entirely lost on him. Derek had been drifting in and out of consciousness for at least three hours, camped out on the living room sofa. Footsteps quickly caught his attention, head snapping up faster than it should have as tired eyes were laid upon his disheveled mate. Suddenly, the energy he needed came, and the elder was on his feet and closing the distance in seconds.
"Hey."

It’s been a day and a half, and he hasn’t recovered quite yet. Visible bedhead and clothes that haven’t changed, but he’s awake and wandering the house in a groggy daze looking for someone — anyone, really.
It’s kind of freaking him out how empty it seems.

A breath of fresh air -- though a strained one, unable to pinpoint the sudden tightness in his chest -- came when Jackson finally stepped away. There wasn't much else to be said, whatever had been brewing between them now effectively brought to a sudden halt. Regardless, his level of irritation still remained on the higher side of the spectrum, still entirely too close to the object of his frustration to be at all comfortable.
"Good."
One syllable, one sharp cut of speech, and Derek's hand was closing around the knob of his door. With a borderline aggressive twist, the door was shoved open, barely sparing the younger a glance as he passed through the doorway and into the safety of his own dorm. Leaving no room for negotiation, the RA quickly shut the door behind him.
It went without saying Derek felt no desire to be bothered for the remainder of the night.

It wasn’t what he’d been expecting in the slightest, but he couldn’t say he was displeased with the outcome. Forcing himself to get this out and over with was for the better, leaving them both on the same page.
And this had been what he’d wanted from the beginning, to not have to travel down this road with anyone. He’d started out with a plan and he was going to stick to it. Frankly, he thought it was pathetic that he’d been about to abandon it after only a few weeks here. As long as Derek stopped the creepy routine, there was nothing left to say.
” … Great. Glad we could have this talk.”
Jackson pushed himself off of the doorway, ready to leave Derek to himself and return to his room. He’d only wait for the older’s parting words.

The exact scenario Derek had been hoping to avoid had proverbially slapped him in the face. It was just what he had sworn himself against -- his last serious attachment had cost him nearly everything -- and taking another step in that direction wasn't safe. Jackson had cornered him, though the RA still had an option; use the trap door, escape the situation entirely.
Because, really, why would he have any kind of serious emotional attachment to someone like him?
---- That's what he told himself, anyways.
"I don't do dating. You want me gone, fine. I'm gone."

“No, see, I looked it up: pinning someone against a wall just so you can stare at them and following them to their car and then waiting in the parking lot until they get back falls under the definition of stalking. It also counts as harassment, which — if you don’t want to lose your precious position as hall monitor — you should really be careful of doing.”
He turned so his spine was pressed against the doorjamb, eyes flickering down to the end of the hall where a small group of girls were doing some late night door decorating for someone’s birthday. After a minute of silence — or brooding, he couldn’t quite tell which —, he spoke up again.
” … If you like someone, don’t be a dick. Grow a pair and ask them to dinner. The worst that could happen is that they say no … “
