My mind with legs, it wandered
My money on wheels, it's squandered
I'd take you to bed
You would rest your head
But my dear, my house the bank garnered

With this same logic, is op asking that queer people ONLY play CLEARLY queer roles???
In Pride month, I think it's important to remind you of this iconic dialogue. You don't have to talk about who you are if you don't want to❤️

I feel like this can also be seen as good depending on the scenario: give your teenager enough space to disagree, to make mistakes. Mistakes are the best teacher, and you can't protect your kid from every bump in the road.
You tell your teenager something.
They don't believe you.
Something bad happens.
They later find out you were right.
That's not a victory for you. That's not an opportunity for you to brag and tell them, "I told you so."
In fact, it's the complete opposite of a victory. You failed. You failed to earn the trust of someone who was literally a captive audience to you for their entire life. You never even tried to earn their trust because your sense of superiority made you feel entitled to it without having to earn it. Having a teenager who doesn't trust you and who thinks you're wrong about everything is a direct and completely reasonable response to how you've treated them.

I think of it as safe vs unsafe trash.
A full plastic bottle? Unsafe-- what's in there?
A dry plastic bag? I'll grab a stick and pick it up.
Etc etc. it doesn't help that my area is absolutely covered in both safe and unsafe trash. :(

There's a logical fallacy I learned of around middle school, and my friends at the time dubbed it the 'piss kink fallacy.' simply put, if you joke about part of your identity or how you interact with the world, it becomes your world.
That is to say, someone I distantly know joked their way into having a piss kink.
Ok, loves, so we've all got the message that joking about suicide is bad for your mental health. Now we need to get on "joking that the planet/all of humanity has no future is bad for societal health/encouraging resistance to bad shit."

Eating this information because rejection sensitive dysphoria
Make sure you don't accidentally punish people for communicating their needs and boundaries. When someone cares enough to have the uncomfortable conversation, that's a compliment and a clear sign that they are invested in the relationship. Yes of course it's uncomfortable to hear that something you've been doing has been upsetting someone you care about when that was never your intention, but people generally only bother to have these conversations with the people they want to keep around - the people they trust to care. If they just didn't like you, they'd probably just try to avoid you. So make sure you don't make it into a more punishing experience than it has to be. Try to see the care and the trust behind the criticism, even when it triggers uncomfortable emotions. It's a good sign that they're there telling you.
