I apologise for being unbearably slow & absent. I'm under a lot of stress because of internship issues & school workload, and my arthritis is acting up because I'm so stressed out. As you can imagine, my creativity is suffering because of this.

" raising an eyebrow at him in amusement as her focus moved entirely to him, momentarily halting her weaving. whilst it could not be denied it had been a rather intense visit to olympus that day, one that about everyone must have either heard or heard about by now, it was far from aristokleia's nature to be so petty she'd refuse to go to dinner as had been planned.

giving him a small smile, gaze returning to her weaving as she started once more. " i promised my mother i'd be there, so i'll be there. i'll not let a measly spat prevent me from seeing everyone tonight. i'll be taking the opportunity to apologize to grandfather for my tone of voice back then. not for what i said, though, and i am certain he knows me well enough to be aware of that. " whilst it wasn't her habit to argue with her family, this was neither the first nor the last time it would happen. her penchant for being outspoken about matters that she was passionate about would ensure that. " why, did you worry you'd be deprived of your favourite niece's company tonight? " but a sweet jest directed at ares, unwilling to allow a heaviness to linger regarding the argument.

im just saying but kleia taking a blow for someone she holds dear with no hesitation & it doesn't kill her but she ends up dangerously injured & unconscious for weeks on end.

consider: kleia having a lover & that news getting out in the camp so now all the kids have new juicy gossip and are trying to find out who her lover is

aristokleia is a formidable soldier. and, in truth, a bit terrifying. she's participated in many a war since she was young and she has actually a sort of madness in the heat of battle. it's almost as if she has been possessed by something and it is in jarring contrast to who she actually is as a person. the ruthlessness she displays in war, the brutality with which she fights & uses her gifts is ... almost nauseating.

it makes her a most efficient and useful pawn during wars and she almost never refuses if given the command to participate for the greater good, out of her sense of duty. but even the gods cannot really get used to the switch that happens when kleia sets foot upon the battlefield.

the running theory is that it's a madness aspect that comes from her father dionysus and manifests in this specific way for a reason none have yet uncovered. one hypothesis is it is a sort of extreme response to try and keep her loved ones safe, because of the war is won, that means safety for those she holds dear.

anon sent : what is kleia's relationship like with the children of dionysus / bacchus? no meme but unprompted things have all my love

kleia has always adored her half-siblings, be they greek or roman. dionysus does not have nearly as many affairs as the other gods, being quite in love with his wife ariadne, and as a result, also does not produce that many offspring with mortals. so the siblings she does end up having, she typically really dotes on them and bonds with them if they allow it. it tends to show that she particularly loves her siblings but i assume none of the campers can begrudge her that.

she is not above scolding them or holding them accountable if they do something wrong, though: she loves them, but she is always fair in her judgments.

in addition, all credit of kleia's positive attitude regarding her half-siblings goes to her mother. ariadne raised her daughter to be loving and compassionate, as well as telling kleia from the start that her parents' marriage was secure and explaining the arrangement of it. she's witnessed how strong their marriage is, as well as ariadne's own positive attitude towards her husband's children with mortals the few rare times she interacted with her stepchildren. if her mother had been bitter and angry about any of this, kleia likely would have followed her example.
