“The Good and the Bad: How Social Media Affected Me as a Gen Z Individual”
The influence of Media and Information over elections, politics and, governance.
Politicians used to go over the country to contact with individuals and meet with them in person once upon a time. That is gradually being phased out in favor of online townhalls, which are becoming more popular. Video conferencing, video calls, social networking apps, and other technological advances today make it possible to communicate with a large number of people at the same time, across multiple timezones, without having to physically move. In the past, the television media, radio media, and cable television (all of which were designated as traditional media) were the primary repository of information, and hence the primary influencers in politics and administration. However, this has changed.
With the internet, it is now possible for individuals or groups of people with little or no technological investment to establish themselves and build a following large enough to exert influence over government. And with the rise of online petitions and Wikileaks, the proliferation of terrorist organizations with strong information and technology capabilities, as well as social media skills, the way public office holders and other stakeholders in governance used to think about governance has been permanently altered.

To force someone to do something, or solely for the pleasure of the assaulter, is known as bullying. Bullying is a prevalent behavior in campuses, as seniors attack juniors to demonstrate their dominance and privileges. Strong people generally do bullying towards weaker people. Their power (physical and intellectual) and position make them appear strong. These bullies bully weaker people into making themselves known or into forcing them to undertake unpleasant chores. Bullying occurs at colleges, schools, offices, and other places. A person who is regularly bullied or has been bullied suffers tremendous emotional and physical stress. Bullies cause mental and physical instability in some people. Bullying can cause someone to lose confidence, either temporarily or permanently. A therapist or consultant should be consulted in both circumstances because mental trauma is as significant as physical trauma. Still, that person's mental state will dictate how he lives his life. If the individual bullying others succeed, he will gain confidence and continue to bully others. In that instance, a bully should be reported quickly, and the bully should be punished appropriately to prevent reoccurrence. Many clubs and organizations exist in schools and colleges to protect students from bullying. They told the pupils to report any instances of bullying or ragging to the organization's management. In offices, there are no such organizations because all employees are adults. They should be able to handle these scenarios. This instance has both positive and negative aspects. On the plus side, bullied employees learn to tackle crises on their own. They must act wisely to avoid losing their positions while also facing and resolving the issues. The disadvantage is that bullies are not punished unless the victim retaliates. Every bullied victim may not be strong enough to retaliate. Weak people will not retaliate, giving us an opportunity to the attacker. So, teach people to retaliate against bullies while also teaching them not to bully weaker people into flaunting their dominance. It is wrong to oppress, and the victim should complain.

Addiction to Electronic Devices Many people have gone too far with technology, which has been a huge help to us. Many researchers and surveys have found that a big percentage of people have become addicted to their electronic devices and cannot function without their cell phones or other devices. Many worry that individuals will prefer to communicate via these devices rather than face-to-face. We are seeing an increasing number of people becoming addicted to technology. Many issues have arisen from the use of these gadgets, including health risks, relationship issues, classroom, church, and workplace interferences.
Communication is a basic human need, on par with food, drink, and shelter. As important as it may be, a day of "mobile phone fasting" may not be the best idea, especially in light of Hartley's research. A valid situational conflict may prevent you from doing this, but you may still do your part to reduce your usage and the harm it causes. Avoiding using your phone for at least an hour before going to bed and for the first fifteen minutes after waking up is one method that has numerous advantages.
Cell phone addiction has been linked to sleep disorders, according to a number of experts (e.g. Smetaniuk, Hartley etc.). "Experts Advise Against Keeping Mobile Phone in Bedroom," by Sonakshi Yajurvedi, explains why this is so: "The light [from cell phones] makes individuals assume it is daytime and stimulates cells in the retina."During the day, these cells tell the body it's time to wake up. Melatonin, a hormone that induces sleep, and cortisol, a hormone that promotes alertness, are both regulated by this (Yajurvedi).
People who use their phones in the hours before and after bedtime are more prone to have sleep disturbances, restlessness, anxiety, and exhaustion as a result. not something that should be taken for granted.

“Media and Politics: A Love-Hate Relationship.”
With the current dilemma, Filipinos spend practically all of their time on media. The Philippine media has many facets that appeal to local viewers. Media includes TV, radio, shortwave, and newspapers. In terms of performance, media aids the people much. They inform the public and represent their interests to the state. The best example of this is the government press briefings when spokesperson Harry Roque will address questions from the media, questions that are from the people or based on what the people are experiencing. People prefer to ask the government for updates on the challenges plaguing the Philippines and remedies.
The media supports free speech, and the public noticed. According to a survey done by Social Weather Station (SWS) on June 22-26, 2019, 67 percent of respondents agree that the Philippines' mainstream media have freedom of speech, expression, and the press. Thus, the Philippine media is helping residents express their views and concerns. They are doing their best to provide consumers with the information they require. Media that do not do their work properly and without bias are admonished and cautioned before being punished. While the media is not always perfect, they are doing their best to provide us with accurate information.
