Dr. Deidre Destrange is the world's foremost expert on cybernetics, and has just found out that her research is being used to experiment on children, by the very organization she works for. She gets reassigned to the division managing this, and begins to talk with one of the 'subjects', CO-458; Pavel. Initially hopeful her inside report could reform the program, this confidence quickly deteriorates and she finds herself faced with a choice: go quietly, or make a blast.

protoViolence is a kinetic visual novel and prequel to malViolence, telling the story of Dr. Destrange and how she broke ties with STOP.

it was mother's day yesterday but you know what?

every day's a good day to celebrate dr. deidre destrange. so it's fine.

I want to know which orthodontist is responsible for Cautionne's braces. Specifically: which secretary answered a call from Ms. Denormal politely booking an appointment for her son. Will you be gentle with him? He has had some... bad experiences. Oh of course ma'am we pride ourselves on our ability to navigate children's trauma! [Hangs up] What a nice woman.

And then she shows up to the appointment and you do a double take because that's internationally wanted supervillain Dr. Danger, right??? You're not crazy?? But there's no way STOP's most wanted is sitting here in the waiting room playing with the baby toys along with her teen son. Hey wait didn't Dr. Danger have a sidekick – and then they're called by the orthodontist so you just try and forget about it.

Then a year or so later the teen comes accompanied by a whole new person and you go "Hey where's your mother?" and he goes "Dead." Which is horrible except Dr. Danger also died a few months back and now that you're looking at the kid you're pretty sure that's –

Aaaand that's when you decide this is above your pay grade. You tell the kid sorry about his mom, register the new guardian, and mind your own fucking business because if this kid is a supervillain he could crazy murder you and if he isn't that'd be really emberassing for you.
