Having seen several of TIG's movies, I can say with absolute conviction that the man has a thing for brunettes. Something which plays into his Terry Silver character too, I think. His interest seems drastically lacking with lighter-haired individuals. Lol.

Anyway, I can't picture Terry being into blondes. But brunettes...especially of the small, brown-eyed variety...tan too...

Imagine Terry the billionaire Silver being absolutely swamped by blondes that throw themselves at him on the daily; tall, long legged, busty types with huge blue eyes and he can't stand to look twice. Nobody sends him petite brunettes because they think he'll dwarf them and it could never work. He gets a reputation for being unable to be swayed by sex. The blond men some people throw at him do not work either. The Selma Hayek types or the Tyra Bankses of the world elicit some interest, but never enough to distract him from anything and meanwhile he is so bored with it. So bored. He wants a petit brunet, or yes, a tiny brunette he can put in his pocket and swear undying loyalty to. And they never offer him that.

Terry doesn't do casual anything, not casual sex either but he uses it to his advantage that everybody is so biased about blondes that they never try anything else.

And does Tig not have chemistry with blondes. Yikes. Gus Travis kinda sorta works because he had fun playing the villain. But if he has any say in who the love interest is, they are doe eyed and brunet(te), and if he can tower over them, so much the better. He wants them no higher than his shoulder.

I AGREEE WITH EVERYTHING. THIS MOVIE HAD ME DOWN BAD, AWWWWWWING AT NEARLY EVERY SCENE. SO GO WATCH IT FOLKS, OR ELSE.... jk, thank you for coming to my tig talk.

as usual, these thoughts are up on letterboxd. but i figured i should put them here too, for the people...

KARATE KID LEGENDS: A JUMBLED UP FLUFFED UP REVIEW

this movie is nowhere near perfect. the solid 3-star conundrum i'm seeing on here (and everywhere, if i'm being recent and honest) is completely understandable; there's a lot of gripes you can hold with this movie. for starters, soundtrack was EVERYWHERE. things needed time to breathe. everyone needed more time. TIME, TIME TIME. backstory. accuracies - i mean, are you kidding me; 1986, okinawa? we all know DAMN WELL that was the summer of 1985. hell, benson boone is in this fucking soundtrack and you just have to let his music assault your years. excuse my crudeness: i can't stand benson boone. and YES, i wanted more time with the evil team, the demolition dojo sensei (because KREESE stand-in, you know who my favorite character is BUZZ OFF), and... well, he who shall be named in the next paragraph. 

but. BUT. 

aramis knight as conor day. with one n, because evil CAN be stored in a singular n and he has no second one to put the rest of it in. NO, I'M JOKING. onwards we go. 

(but not really; i love him so much. if you know me, i love to see an into the badlands actor show up. you guys saw me when i watched love hurts with ke huy quan and daniel wu was there. i'm not normal.) 

ralph n jackie touch on how powerful it feels to pass down a legacy. to play the role of shifu/sensei, and pass on all these important lessons. li fong is a walking crockpot of all his influences; his mother, his new nuyorican friends, mr han and of course larusso, and then even his BROTHER. it is, in its essence, a film made for no one person, but for everyone. a testifying piece to what role community plays in the upbringing of a kid, how IMPORTANT it is to have community. the previous karate kid/ck installments always seem to grind this idea of the INDIVIDUAL mindset, of the ONE person you become in order to win. i love that it felt like everyone pitched in, and that ben's success is a result of the love he receives from EVERYONE.

some personal thoughts here.... because it's SO SO SO charming, and more importantly, TAILOR CRAFTED for me. going to bullet point here for cohesion.

li fong getting an sat tutor was actually ADORABLE and the fact that they ended up being good pals was so so SO charming. that was so so so special to me and i know it wasn't written specifically to me but the little calculus jokes... so very special and quintessential to the asian high school experience, because YEAH.

i cannot speak on the nyc credibility but it his connections with victor as well were SO charming; i felt their relationship greatly aided the story and gave power to li fong's motives, to the FIGHT.

might i also finally add, that the romance between mia and li is doubly adorable in the sense that we just get to have this teenaged girl who is literally... A TEENAGED GIRL. who cares about her dad, has her gripes and issues, and simply wishes to run her pizza shop with her dad. it was teenaged romance in the realest, corniest, sappiest way possible and i was incredibly INCREDIBLY fond of them.

all of this, and the final fruition of mr han and daniel's bickerings and teachings (that subway kick was PHENOMENAL stuntwork, by the way)... and we have such a GORGEOUS final fight on a skyscraper. i mean, fuck! the only thing that could make this better (or worse. MUCH WORSE) is if li fong kicked conor day off the side of the building. but we don't want that. no no no. not the miyagi do way. 

ah, and compliments away from the amazing decisions of the writing:

visually, this movie is a lot like a good pizza: simple, but you order it. a lot of people were complaining, "oh, it was edited in capcut!! blah blah blah, SO SIMPLE," but i truly believe the charm of the karate kid films lies in its simplicity. the camerawork was PHENOMENAL - so far away from the eyesore of the final fights from dre's karate kid.

the little doodle-libs from the points and the countdown towards the five boroughs were soooo eyecatching and popping. it has my artist eyeballs TINGLING!!!

so many scenes in this film are visually well composed as well, here i'll list a few; the lantern scene, the brother getting stabbed, and uh.... well. the entire final fight. may i also add that the pizza place is FANTASTICALLY built and so, SO charming in its intimate little pieces scattered across thru the back. i love when a film set is allowed the love of the details. 

i've gone off on a long and heavy tangent (i have THOUGHTS, okay?!) and i'm sure you're getting sick of reading this unapologetic five star review. i'll wrap it up with one last statement: the other two karate kid kickoffs - 1984, 2010 - have their individual stand out moments for both the protagonists. but li fong is given more than a singular time to shine; he is given a community of people who love him, who SUPPORT him. that's real beautiful.

the message is frank - to make a karate kid, you need a karate kid... LEGENDS.

You have recently been hired as a maid for Terry Silver's mansion, a man known for his power and control. Your first day has been much harder than you expected. The mansion is enormous, and it seems like it never stops needing tidying up. But the worst part is Silver's presence: always so elegant, so calm, so... imposing. Sometimes, it feels like he's watching you more than necessary.

As you continue cleaning the hallways, you feel his eyes on you. You discreetly turn around, only to find his gaze fixed on you. You can't help but shiver. His smile, although polite, carries something that makes you nervous.

"Hope I'm not causing you any discomfort, Miss," he says. His voice is soft, almost as if he's testing something, measuring your reactions.

"No, sir. I'm fine, just focusing on finishing..." you reply, not wanting to appear uncomfortable, but the tension in the air is undeniable.

You keep cleaning, staying busy, but at every moment, you feel there's something strange between you and him. Every time he crosses your path, his words are brief but laden with an energy that makes you feel smaller and, at the same time, strangely drawn to him. Like you're about to do something you shouldn't.

One day, while you're in the kitchen, he enters without warning. You jump, accidentally knocking over a tray of dishes. The plates crash to the floor with a loud clatter, and you quickly crouch to pick them up.

"Careful," Terry says, approaching with a disturbing calm. "I don't want you to hurt yourself."

When you stand up, he's closer than you expected. His eyes shine with something you can't define, and suddenly, everything seems to grow denser. The air between you two becomes thicker, heavier.

"Are you okay?" he asks, his tone now lower, almost with a hint of concern, but his proximity makes you feel vulnerable.

Your body reacts to his closeness, a sudden warmth spreading across your cheeks. And even though your mind screams for you to step away, something inside you urges you to stay. The way he looks at you, as if searching for something within you, makes you feel so small, yet somehow powerful, as if you're on the edge of something you can't stop.

"Yes... yes, sir. It was just an accident..." your words sound empty, but you can barely concentrate on what you're saying. Your whole being is on alert, waiting for his next move.

Then, almost imperceptibly, his fingers touch your arm, a subtle but electrifying caress. The brush of his hand against your skin makes you catch your breath.

"You're very careful, but you don't have to be so hard on yourself," his voice sounds much lower now, much closer.

It's as if the rest of the room disappears. It's just you and him. The tension is palpable, electric. Suddenly, you find yourself in his arms, and you don't know how you got there, but you can't deny that you feel strangely comfortable.

"I don't know if this is what you expected..." you whisper, your lips just inches from his.

"It’s exactly what I expected," Terry replies with a dangerous smile, and in that moment, everything changes.

The kiss is inevitable, as if the universe itself conspired for it to happen. His mouth meets yours with an intensity that takes your breath away, and soon your hands are on his chest, pushing for him to come closer. The heat between you two intensifies quickly, and what started as a spark becomes a fire that consumes any trace of doubt.

And when the clothes fall, the fire becomes uncontrollable.

Suddenly, you are on the kitchen table. Terry stares at you, with a thirst in his eyes that makes you tremble. His hands caress you, taking in every curve of your body and exploring it with deliberate slowness. His lips move with a voracious hunger, finding every corner of your skin and making it his own.

The sensation is overwhelming, as if every cell in your body is waking up to enjoy the passion unfolding around you.

And then, Terry penetrates you, his hard and eager member. The pain is intense, but it mixes with a sensation of pleasure that leaves you breathless. Its rhythm is slow, but determined, as if it knows exactly what you need to completely let go.

The room becomes dark, you can only feel the world through the sensations that run through your body. You are so close to the limit, but at the same time, so far away... as if there were no end to the agony you feel.

"I have to see you..." he says then, stepping away from you a little.

This is how he sees you: naked on the table, surrounded by plates and glass, and completely surrendered to his will. And for a moment, you feel something you had never experienced before: fear.

But the fear disappears as soon as it arrives, when Terry returns to you and begins to caress you with a tenderness that makes you forget that you are a servant in your owner's house, that you only have to do what you are told, and nothing more. You are only his, and he is the one in control.

The room remains dark, but your mind begins to shine with the idea that you can be something more. Something more than the housemaid.

"I want to see you scream," says Terry with a voice that sounds so close to your ears that it makes you jump.

And it is at that moment that it begins again, his hands on your chest, his fingers on your breasts. What had once been a gentle touch now becomes a deliberate massage. He touches you with a confidence you cannot deny, and soon you begin to feel the sensation of falling again.

"Terry!"you shout with an intensity you didn't know you had.

The sound of his name on your lips makes it stronger. His arms embrace you and push you down onto the table with a force that makes you completely lose control. His body beats in harmony with yours, as if they were destined to be this way.

"Ah..." Terry suddenly shouts. "My God!"

And in that instant, you feel something inside you explode. It's as if the fire that burned in your soul had found its release, and your body was the means for it. You are exhausted, but satisfied, as if you have fulfilled what was meant to be.

And when reality returns, you only have time to see that the kitchen is covered in shards of glass and broken plates. Everything has changed.

You have to do something to repair the damage you've caused, but Terry stops you.

"Don't worry". He smiles at you. "You should know that in my house, there is no place for indecision. And if you don't like it... you can leave. But I don't think that's what you want".

The sound of her laughter sends a chill down your spine.

"Then, there's no problem. You can continue being my maid... but it will also be something more".

And with that, the tension between you and him becomes so evident that you can do nothing but nod, and wait for what comes next. Because you know that after all this, nothing will ever be the same again. And you can't help but feel that you want more... much more. After all, you have learned that in Silver's house, there is no place for indecision, only for desire, passion... and absolute control. Everything at your mercy, if you know what you want. And now, you know exactly what you want: Terry.

Amidst all of the very valid Cobra Kai negativity out there (and as someone who is feeling extremely let down as well), at the end of the day, there are still some positives I want to note that make it all worth it, at least for me

Honestly, it was an incredible surprise and blessing that Thomas Ian Griffith came out of retirement at all, and regardless of whatever did and didn't happen when it comes to the "story" (idk might be giving them too much credit there), we still got so many good and iconic scenes out of his return and I can truly say, without the old man, CK version of Terry, I would not like or care about him as a character in the slightest; maybe that makes me a fake fan but idc, that's just the way it is

This is a weirder one, but I also love that the lackluster finale has inspired all of the extremely gifted writers on here to revisit their projects and dream up new ones, trying to right the wrongs in the way that we can

And speaking of those gifted writers, as well as the talented gif creators and supportive readers, I've met several incredibly sweet and fun people that I would have never crossed paths with, ever, otherwise- and we've had some amazing times together, haven't we?

In the end, I look forward to keeping in touch with y'all and seeing where we continue to take this character, because this is not the end!

It has been such an amazing journey to see and have Thomas Ian Griffith back as Terry Silver. This character has been my favorite since Karate Kid 3 and growing up with all three movies! Ever since watching Cobra Kai I myself have grown. I used to be quiet, shy and the person who would never hang out with friends. I have overcome many obstacles the last few years. I have opened up more, more interactions with friends co workers, I’ve met new people. I have become more confident at work and at home with workouts. I push myself every day and recently been promoted to Manager at work! I’m so happy I’ve come so far and being more confident in life!

Thank you Thomas you have been an inspiration to me!!
