Yay! You're back! We missed you!
Oh, really...
Well, thank you. When I first took this account on, I felt like it'd just be another task to my neverending to-do list. But now I find myself wishing I had more time off to keep up with it... I don't really understand what you all find interesting, but I suppose I miss you all too.

from goldenrod you say? do you know whitney??
Yes, I do. I had moved from Goldenrod before she became a gym leader, but I've met her a few times. It's unfortunate she still has a reputation for being emotional and childish... I mean, she was a child. It was a lot of responsibility for her to handle. And she's grown up a lot since her first year or two of running the gym. I feel I should also acknowledge her notorious Miltank... facing a challenge, that's the point of a gym. If you want to take on a difficult task, you should expect to have to make a plan... Thank you for your question... I wonder if she'll attend the next international league conference.

Which of your Pokémon was the hardest to train?
This answer is easy... Braviary.
The main issue... so, he does recognize Gray, or Staraptor, as his boss. That certainly wasn't intentional, but it keeps the two civil. Anyone else, however...
I try to let my Pokémon out to socialize with eachother sometimes. They get lunch breaks and off-hours too, you know. But if I turn my back too long then I come back to Altaria's down (those cloud-like feathers) torn into the air and Flamigo squawking wildly as Braviary is trying to tear off Tropius' leaves and fruit, again.
One of you brought up sometime that Oricorio might be needing more enrichment and play since she acts up sometimes, too... I don't disagree, but this is one of the reasons it's been difficult. I'm not the most interesting person so I try to encourage these sorts of teambuilding things. It does work. Komala and Dunsparce are inseparable. Oricorio, Tropius and Altaria feel almost like a family at times. Gray, if anything, needs more alone time. He always sleeps like a rock at night.
So I've tried to really push Braviary in case he had energy to get out too. And maybe this is his way of doing so... but it's causing far too much stress for my other birds.
Anyway, what you asked about was training. But it's as you'd expect... I get the feeling he's not keen on listening to me and he goes so headstrong into battles. And he pushes himself too far every time.
Honestly, I'm at a loss as to what to do with him. He's a very strong Pokémon and I care about him plenty... but working with him is a challenge.
You all seem to like learning their names, so... Braviary's name is Romeo. This time it was my daughter who named him.
Thank you for your question... and your patience. There was a long delay before I answered this one...

How old is your daughter anyway? Also what's your komala's name?
She turned 19 in December.
And Komala's name is Yuka. Rika came up with it. She says it's short for eucalyptus, but I get the feeling it has more to do with how similar it is to her own name... This suggestion came after I vetoed "Rika III", after all.
Thank you for your questions.

What’s better, white wine or red wine?
Hmm. It depends on who's asking, really.
A lot of you are probably academy students and don't have much of a budget, so I'd reccomend white in that case. You can get a better quality wine for a cheaper price. Not that I think it needs to be top-shelf to be good, really. But... maybe middle-shelf, you know?
I'd also say white if you've never tried any wine before. It's usually less bitter.
But if it's affordable and you can appreciate the taste, then my choice is certainly anything red. Something local, if you can. It'll always be better than any name brand bottle... at least, that's what I think.
And if you're a kid... then the best choice is water. Some juice, maybe. I represent the league here, so... I don't condone underage drinking.
Thank you for your question.

Well, the correct answer won.
...I'm joking, of course. They're all good answers. But I have my favorites.
I've seen this new option... I'm not sure if I understand it just yet, but I'm going to try to ask you all the question this time.
Oh, and I also want to apologize. I've had so much overtime that I haven't had time to keep up here... I may have to close the inbox at times to ensure I can reply to everyone. Thank you for your continued patience.

Wait, you said you moved to Paldea? From what region, if you don’t mind me asking?
Oh, Johto. I spent most of my childhood in Goldenrod and moved to a smaller town in the east once I got married. But I still found myself in the city a lot of the time for work.
As you know, though, marriages don't always last, so... Since I didn't have anything to stick around for in Johto, I took the job offer in Paldea. It got me out of there, and it was a much better salary, anyway.

Cat dad just means you are a man who raises felines like meowth is all
Oh, well... that's not so bad. Maybe one day. I'm a "Bird-dad" for now, then.

Larry, do you like the pokémon Meowth? You should get one and evolve it to a Persian because you seem like a "cat-dad."
"Cat-dad"... I hope this isn't another version of that catgirl thing. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here and answer as I usually would... I'm quite fond of most normal types, so I've thought about catching one. There's many Meowths and Persians around Medali, after all, but Persians have always felt too elegant for a guy like me. And Meowths seem tricky to train, though... if anybody has experience with their mischievous personalities then I'd be interested to hear how you handle it. Thank you for your question.

Some people sell USBs that are designed to look like there’s a Rotom in them! Hope this helps explain why you could easily accidentally put one in. Although if their coworker was stupid enough to put a random USB they found somewhere in their computer, they might be stupid enough to not notice either way, let’s be real.
Tumblr media
I looked it up and found this after receiving your ask... I understand now. I guess that would be a problem with all this rotom-themed tech. I'll stick with ordinary USBs from the shelf. Thank you for this information.

does your daughter have those eyebrows too
No, she doesn't. Quite the opposite, actually. She takes more after her mother. Thank you for your question. I'm not sure why, but reading it made me laugh. That doesn't happen often nowadays.

My idiot coworker found a flash drive in the parking lot and plugged it into their work computer. Turns out it had a rotom in it, and now the network's down and I'm pretty sure someone has my personal information from HR.
Can you tell me a heartwarming story about one of your pokemon to cheer me up?
Huh. I've never heard of something like that. You would think that you could tell when there's a rotom haunting the drive but... it seems not. That's unfortunate. I wonder if your coworker's going to keep their job. Certainly not going to be their best evaluation that month... Anyway, I can't say I'm a storyteller, but I'll try my best to provide something heartwarming. So... my Dudunsparce was my second pokemon. I caught her as a Dunsparce, of course. And she stayed that way for a long time. It sounds a bit silly, but I never even realized she could evolve until I moved here... there's just something about the Paldea air, I guess. She and Staraptor never completely worked well together. I mean, they didn't fight, but they kept to themselves. As more pokemon joined my team, Staraptor had no problem establishing relationships with all of them. Even Braviary... and he's been quite the difficult coworker for everyone. Dunsparce just didn't seem interested in teamwork with anyone. Or interested in much at all, really... she tends to spend a lot of time asleep. She's always put in good work when I need her to, though. This was all the case up until I needed a new team member for my gym team... I didn't have anything special in mind. Really, I just caught a common pokemon right outside of Medali- I like when things aren't too interesting anyway, it's easier that way. So that's when Komala joined our team. She's quite the sweetheart. I mean, she's always asleep, so there's not a great variance in emotions there, but she's always trying to hang on to me and cuddle up... Unless Dudunsparce is around. When they first met, Komala rolled at an impressive speed right towards her. I thought it'd end up with poor Komala getting paralyzed with a glare, but to my surprise Dudunsparce was not only gentle with her but then curled around her— to the best of her ability to do so, anyway. I can't explain it, but now they've been inseparable since the first time they met. Dudunsparce is cold-blooded, you know, so there's no additional warmth for Komala... and Komala isn't even conscious for Dudunsparce to do much with. But I guess that's the point. They both just want someone simple and quiet to nap with... Well, I guess I do understand. Nothing beats a good nap.
Tumblr media
Since they've bonded, Dudunsparce has performed at her best. She's sent out after Komala, so I guess knowing her friend has fainted makes her more determined than ever... Oh, Dudunsparce's name is Fido, if you're curious. I never thought much of it before, but I've realized here that people seem to expect a different pokemon when you say that name... Luckily, I tend to keep it simple by just referring to the species' name anyway. Thank you for your question. I know it's not the most riveting story, but I don't think you'd expect that from me anyway.

You’ve raised a kid before? Who?
You know, that's a funny way to word it. It sounds like you're assuming you'd know who she is... but, well, you might be right. Maybe not if you're Paldean.
Even if she's caused me many sleepless nights worrying about her, I'm very proud of my kid. But for that reason, I hesitate to say who she is. Her dad's a little boring, after all... I don't want to embarrass her.
She'll be visiting soon, though. I'll see then if she wants to make a post. She's probably better at this blog thing than I am.
Thank you for your question.

Hey Larry how...often do you drink?
Only socially or when I'm stressed. There's a lot of good alcohol to try out there too... I'd consider that the hobby side of things. I do like to buy the adult challengers a drink with their food if they're interested... so it's natural to join in on that. I've found that having some in me during the day helps me output better work results—more confidence, I suppose. That's a good thing. I mean, I don't think you can tell whether I'm sober or not writing this post. I know it might seem like a lot for other people, but I usually can hold my own.
