Hey, I don’t know if it’s the right channel for this but you always struck me as a very analytical person. Anyways, the main question is: how do you feel about people using AI for math ?. I know that there’s a lot of hate regarding using AI for creative purposes (e.g: storytelling or creating art) and I understand why using AI takes the thinking and humanity out of doing art and as an artists I don’t approve. As someone who ho doesn’t really ‘get’ math, I was wondering how mathematicians feel about using AI for math ? Like do you consider it taboo to use AI to explain mathematical concepts or proofs ? Does that take the critical thinking out of the mathematical process ?. I thought this might be in your ball park because of your undergrad degree, but it’s okay if you’re too busy and can’t answer.
In its current form, AI LLMs make false claims and hallucinate false information because they have no fact-checking ability. They literally only know how to string words together based on which words are frequently found in sequence in their training data. Nowhere in the process do they run their output through any verification. AIs getting simple questions incredibly wrong is the internet's current favorite low-hanging fruit.
All due respect, why in the fuck would you ask the infinite misinformation engine anything factual? WolframAlpha is right there. KhanAcademy is right there. StackExchange is right there. This is a half step from asking your texting autocomplete prompts how to do linear algebra.
Mathematical proofs are about starting from true premises and deriving true conclusions using operations that preserve truth. A language model that demonstrably hallucinates constantly is the exact opposite of an operation that preserves truth. When you impose an LLM summary on what may originally be entirely true data, this operation introduces garbage data and results in garbage conclusions. It only knows how to string words together. It cannot understand what you are asking it to say, and it cannot understand what it is saying.
"Taboo" gives this concept dignity it doesn't deserve. Don't do this because it will be incorrect. It will misinform you because it does not know how to do math, it only reproduces what it sounds like when other people do math. Ask those people instead.

How did you learn to draw such vivid scenes? Do you have any avdvice you'd like to give to beginners?
Studying artists like Angela Sung, Yun Ling, and Léa Pinto for their composition and color choices has helped me a lot when it comes to creating environmental art!
For beginner artists, I recommend value mapping very early on when drawing environments. It's something I've been focusing on doing more lately, but it's become an incredibly useful method of planning things out when doing big, complicated pieces.
