My thoughts:

Nath will arrange everything so that it looks like the miraculous was taken from him during the battle, so he will distance himself from all his friends and Marc, arguing that he is not worthy of them. Only on a villainous mission, under the cover of night, Nathaniel//Black Sheep(?) will be able to visit his friend

nino is so good at, like, silver linings ?? watched that one scene where alya is feeling weird about seeing the akumatized vers statue of herself and nino says "it's because you're not looking at them properly! these aren't supervillains, these are all the people that ladybug and chat noir have saved." like that's actually such a cool and cute way to look at it?? Nino is so underrated fr. also he doesn't say it in a way that sounds like he's just trying to cheer her up & doesn't know what to say, he sounds like he just generally likes to have a positive outlook and his presence slowly makes other people start thinking like that too.

also right after he starts to tickle her and be light hearted and playful that's just really sweet . he's so good at cheering people up like what. haha anyway, just, nino appreciation post

Eventually Zoe kinda has a breakdown, either from getting so stressed about continuing to pretend to be a bully again to please her sister, or for some other reason that I haven't come up with yet (I am taking suggestions if anyone has a good idea,) and starts crying on the hotel roof like she did in Sole Crusher (only without Mayor Bourgeois there)

Chat Noir happens to be paroling by the hotel at the time and sees Zoe crying, and even though he doesn't really like her because she's always acting like a mini Chloe, he knows that if he doesn't at least try to comfort her she'll probably get akumatized and he doesn't wish that on anyone, so he decides to drop by and see why she's so upset.

This leads to Zoe ranting about how she's always pretending to be someone she's not for the approval of other people, to the point where she isn't sure she even knows what her real personality is anymore, but she just keeps doing it because she craves the love of her family. And Chat Noir understands, he knows how this feels. He's been doing the same thing for his dad's approval for his entire life, letting Gabriel control everything until he can't tell his own thoughts and interests from the ones his dad chose for him.

I think a lot of the Zoe hate is ridiculous (utterly ridiculous) but I understand where some of it comes from. The writers introduced her just to be "the better Chloe" so they could drop the Chloe redemption arc while still having a "redeemed" version of her that doesn't need to go through the actual hassle of working to become a better person despite having done terrible things on screen. It's lazy writing and I believe that I, a 14-year-old nonbinary person who spends 90% of their time reading gay fanfiction, can do better than a team of adults who get paid to write tv shows.

This is mostly going to be in the reblogs because I want to go over things one by one, but I'm calling it the Aster!Zoe au because I'm changing her hero name to Aster for reasons I'll explain when relevant. But the only reason I'm changing it is because my best friend (who I know is reading this. Hi bestie👋) is obsessed with bees and and now I can't stop thinking about how the permanent bee Miraculous holder is named after a fucking wasp instead of a bee.

One trait I'm making more prominent in this Zoe centric rewrite is her wanting to be close with her family, specifically her wanting to be close with Chloe. Two things that we know about Zoe's past are that she's Audrey's affair baby and used to go to a boarding school before coming to Paris, so it's safe to assume that her dad probably isn't in the picture (aside from giving her his last name) and we all know that Audrey isn't a loving or present person in either of her daughters lives. This leaves Chloe as Zoe's only chance at having a loving family member, so she wants to do whatever she can to earn her sisters approval.

In this au, since Zoe isn't suddenly added in season 4 with no prior references, I'd have her make her first appearance in Style Queen. She gets saved by Queen Bee, and since everyone knows that Chloe is Queen Bee, Zoe believes that this is her sister actually wanting to be nice and have a relationship with her even though Chloe doesn't see anything special about saving her because she doesn't really see Zoe as her little sister (yet)

Zoe eventually comes to Paris full time after the cockroach incident and, despite knowing Chloe doesn't have a miraculous anymore, is still the #1 Queen Bee fan and is super happy/exited to finally have a family.

Chloe on the other hand thinks of Zoe more like a "mini me" or a doll. It doesn't really cross her mind that Zoe has her own personality so she's more excited to have someone else to follow her around, like a little apprentice that can help her take out her frustrations about getting her miraculous taken on her classmates, and Zoe's copycat/people pleaser attitude aren't helping since she's only reenforcing Chloe's misguided ideas about her.

Just saw the og storyboard for the s6 opening and IT INCLUDED ADRIEN ON EQUAL FOOTING WITH MARINETTE ! I'm so disappointed that they scrapped this !

Honestly, I think this might be part of the reason I've never liked most Chloe redemption au's I've seen. It feels like they either completely flip a switch and she's suddenly a super nice person with no flaws or she acts exactly like she did before and the only difference is that characters are now falling over themselves begging for her "forgiveness" because they "had no idea her home life was so bad!!!" And both of those directions just feel so artificial on so many levels.

The only au that I have liked was a few comic panels I found on Pinterest, so I have no idea who actually made them, where they had Zoe trying to teach Chloe to be nicer featuring an amazing panel of Chloe straining herself to say someone even slightly nice about Marinette's outfit. It felt so much more realistic because Chloe was actually trying to be nice and she was struggling because she's just not used to it. Even the "compliment" she finally came up with was largely backhanded.

I've never cared much about Chloe herself in the show, and I've never cared about which direction they took for her character, but her die hard "stans" have definitely negatively affected my views on her. Still working on separating the fandom from the character with her...

She has been bullying people, or at least she's been bullying Marinette, for YEARS. She's a victim of abuse and an abuser, and it is not the responsibility of her victims to try and change her. She's caused akumatization after akumatization with little to no remorse for her actions, her classmates are, rightfully, traumatized by her and, RIGHTFULLY, don't need to forgive her for what she's done to them.

Can Chloe be redeemed? Probably, depending on if you actually want her to be redeemed or if you just want everyone to immediately forgive her for everything she's done just because she has mommy issues.

(Also before anyone brings up Gabriel's "redemption" I BEG you to get some media literacy)

I've recently started seeing people bring up Gabriel's "redemption" as a counter for Chole criticism, and I just have to wonder, did some of you people watch the show with your eyes closed???

I'll be transparent and say off the bat here that I have yet to watch season 5, but I have seen the London special and all the season 6 episodes that are currently released, and even I can tell that what happened in the final battle was NOT Gabriel being redeemed.

In almost every season 6 episode that's released so far has made it VERY clear that Marinette shouldn't have lied and said Gabriel was a hero, because he WASN'T a hero. They're only painting Gabriel as a hero right now to show how much Ladybug's lie has affected the public view of him, changing how he really was into an idealize and fake version of him and causing internal conflict for Adrien, who now has to live with the knowledge that his father was abusive but can't acknowledge that because his dad is now seen as a "hero" of Paris and he doesn't want to ruin that for everyone else. He wasn't a hero and Marinette shouldn't have lied and said he was one, because now when the truth about him being Hawkmoth/Monarch comes out it's going to be 10x worse than it would have been otherwise.

You could even go as far as to say they're drawing parallels between Gabriel and the parents of other miraculous holders. Ivan's dad is a villain, Nath's mom is controlling, don't these things sound familiar? Neither of them are treated like good people, and neither should Gabriel, because the whole point is that he ISN'T redeemed and he WASN'T a good person or dad and Ladybug shouldn't have lied and said he was.

Please. Please. Please. Go gain media literacy. I cannot keep seeing these dumbass takes.
