It made me so happy that Ella's 'happily ever after' didn't involve a romance.

I don't mean it in a "she's a strong woman who doesn't need a man to save her" way (even though she is), it's that her story was about revenge and standing up for herself and I feel that a romantic subplot would not let it shine properly.

It just made sense that romance would be the last thing on Ella's mind. Her infatuation with the prince upon their first meeting felt more like her reaction to his (percieved) kindness towards her (something she rarely experiences). And even her plan to marry the prince wasn't the end goal, it was the means justified by the end (her victory against the stepmother).

I don't have a good way to end this, I'm just happy that her fairytale didn't end in a wedding.
