Sometimes, it feels like I should state that some of these comments were meant to be in another ticket that they approved a week or so ago. And the bugs that occur are not from my ticket or related to it.
#x-#t#developer issues#asking for approvals on a Friday is basically impossible - even worse when you have a small set of mandatory approvers to also ask#I’m not an approval-seeking person but I’ll take this over timesheets

I have learned that I hate video courses. At this point, I’d rather you give me the documentation and a task to do. I’ll survive the hard way if this is meant to be easier.
#x-#t#which is how the bootcamp was more or less set up.#give me a reading I can skim then a task and i’m golden#which means i semi hated the Kotlin course due to that but at least I was given a task

Passed probation! 🎉 Now I gotta deal with the consequences (min 116h of courses on Java/JS dev courses that don’t help me do my current job in mobile dev) and actually doing my job. But the good thing is that I can be less stressed on

On the list of things I wish I knew before doing my job so that I can do my job:
Auto enabled experimental features are horrible - verification dependency was missing due to an experimental feature filtering it out
How to use the build verification tool: build verification tool gave out a dependency verification error when there are code errors - thought that meant security invalidated it
#t#x-#I searched so far and got no where; in the end it doesn’t even matter; because no one documents how to do things;

I’m begging on a Friday afternoon, take the world’s tiniest PR. Approve how I changed just 2 characters because QA needs it for so many tickets.
#t#x-#adventures in corporate#it’s basically after 5 on a Friday during summer - no one is looking at it#6 hours my PR has lived for too long

I know it’s an assignment but I really do feel challenged when mathematical proofs are introduced to coding. Current problem: parity of a permutation. I questioned years of statistics classes because I can’t remember touching parity.
#x-#t#I’m suffering logically#not yet even trying to figure out how to implement it in kotlin#Marie kondo’s love of mess ain’t got nothing on the mess I’ve created for myself

Just got my department assignment (waiting for team assignment) and the past 3 months were a test because now I gotta learn Kotlin.

In the end, I’ve graduated and will be joining a new employer but my god… they rushed front end so understanding React (which mixed me up with JS and HTML syntax). I still want to review but Monday morning is when things get real serious.
#x-#t#still it’s something to look forward to#but it makes me realize - i was pretty sick and not feeling great for more than 2 weeks and completed this thing

But also, we got professional development (that my already fried brain is not okay with) and juggling the on boarding process to the employer.

I haven't been on - been trying to focus on getting assignments done on time (success) and life (...). But let me tell you, we just started front end and if I wasn't in front end for so long, I'd be worse than I am right now. I feel horrifically bad for the rest of my teammates who are just learning HTML/CSS.
I said it was easy because - arguably it is compared to Java. But I never knew they were going to cram everything in, head to advanced materials and then make us do JavaScript and React the next day.
Can you imagine you just learned how a page is formatted with HTML and also needing to know about pseudo-elements/pseudo-classes in CSS? All in the span of 7 hours and a break for lunch?
#t#x.#week10#they have scarred so many people off front-end#and we've had a huge break from Java to so the Java & JavaScript concepts are definitely muddled in people's heads right now#hell - i'm pretty sure when i started coding in js - java left my brain#also i'm learning the js i should've learned but also react is new to me

I will take that odds
#p#lmfao#look - i was sure that the next thing i tried would solve it… and repeated that thought 50 times

It's the break, Week 7 was done with not a single bit of effort to understand it. Which means I got time to review, on top of learning new things, on top of spring cleaning, and on top of life things.
I am questioning what it means to rest - but that'll be next Sunday. Absolutely nothing is happening. I cannot accept it.

Today[D31]: Set up DB connection via SpringBoot for FeedApp, set up User Controller, a couple of User JDBC classes. Did tomorrow's content - skimmed and will attempt the remaining user JDBC classes that we didn't do yet.
We’re behind and I’m restless. It’s not bad that we are behind - we got all day Friday and I would rather have people have their stuff working than the opposite.
But we have a break after this week and I’m feeling too ambitious because of it.
#x-#t#probably because of the caffeine that i was avoiding#but i do have a list of to-dos so we know how this ends#pre-project high - let's defeat it by doing the reqs later#react is on the list as well as review of everything

Falling into lost territory here with the shocker that I’m the lead for the week. Truly pushing my understanding with Spring Boot. We haven’t had many examples or tried to do anything yet since today was way too much theory and lots of set up.

Today[D30] - We’re done with SQL for now. 2 weeks straight of it and I’m… still trying to figure out why I dislike it.
But we got a UI reveal on the Capstone and Feed App. And I just want to tweak it. I want to hope we don’t have to make the exact same UI. I don’t care how many hours I gotta spend to learn the UI library, I will fix it.
#x-#t#week7#i know we can do better with the tools given#honestly it could be a colour and font combo#but i’m tired of bad uis

Got myself in a mental rut and didn’t do life things that needed to be done, but I finished off whatever required grading for the entirety of Monday (minus 2 code-alongs). I’m gonna be skipping after attendance to do the life things I was supposed to do. And I will need to review the following:
Postgres: Indexing and Index Types
Group By and Order By Clauses
Distinct, Union, Intersect, and Except
Postgres: Functions
Java: File Handling
#x-#t#weekend wrapup#honestly probably need to relearn SQL in it’s entirety#nothing went through my brain last week and this week is not looking promising#and there was a lot of contradictions between the lectures and content
