My moss propagation efforts

Genesis here, I’m going to be making a 120 gallon bio active setup for two (Female!) Leopard geckos. I’m also trying to do it as cheaply and correctly as possible: Built to last and be a healthy and stimulating environment with plenty of hiding places and basking spots to prevent conflict.

Some things I’m currently doing: Collecting (mostly poplar and oak) leaves and stripping the main vein out of them, crumbling and boiling them for use in soil

Collecting “pretty” leaves, magnolia pods, gumball pods, shells, and stones to bake to sterilize, which will go on the top (be careful, some rocks can break or explode in the oven! Sometimes it’s better to just scrub them.)

Contacting friends on discord to collect moss, lava rock, and driftwood for the water feature

Getting my friends to collect moss, wash it, and quarantine it indoors for later addition to my terrarium

Asking people for scrap cardboard, tape, and foam for planning layouts

Stealing small cuttings of plants from Walmart to propagate

The tank will probably be arriving tomorrow.

Gonna need a name for the project so I can tag it!

The completed setup will include American Magic Potion isopods, Panda King isopods, springtails obviously, a variety of plants and moss, and cherry shrimp in a water feature at one end, or at least, that’s the plan!
