went on a nostalgic kick and re-read the Deltora Quest series that i remember from elementary school (basic summary: it's a kid-level medieval fantasy quest series with a monster-of-the-week set up). The problem with revisiting 90s childhood classics through an adult lens is that suddenly you realise that the random side character is like. capital H HOT.

Like what do you mean Doom of the Hills is a tall, fierce, dark-haired man with a jagged scar on one cheek?? and he has trauma-induced amnesia from being enslaved by evil forces?? and he has this bizarre warm/cold paternalistic relationship with an absolute twink (the twink turns out to be evil)??
