Bluebox
Tumblr media
Unfortunately in Nigeria, we seem to act like there is no such thing as climate change.
Nigerians complain all the time that they are feeling the sting of the sun and that it is raining heavily, our streets are getting flooded.
The sun gets extremely hot that it causes wildfires and takes lives and properties with it. The rains get very heavy their floods take over neighbourhoods and towns.
Flooding during the rainy season is as a result of blocked drainages. Lagos drainages are filled with all sorts of rubbish; a large percentage of them that can actually be recycled.
Efforts have been made by some private companies; they collect recyclable waste, process and make it into other products.
Lagos State Government Bluebox Initiative is trying to scale what these few private organizations are doing by providing boxes to collect different types of recyclable waste (Paper, Plastic, Can and Glass).
Dispose properly, dispose your waste in the Bluebox!

Here are some foreign foods you can try out with your ram: Biryani (India); Haleem (Arab); Tagine (Morocco) and Oruk (Turkey).
The fun of holiday is about trying something new! Google the recipes and on your way home go to the supermarket to get cooking!

Easter Sizzles n Fizzles: Chicken and Potato Combo
Tumblr media
‘Variety on a plate is worth salivating for’
Foodies, are you tired of eating the traditional cooked/fried chicken with rice during festive seasons? You are not alone.
Chicken and Irish Potato combo is a mouth-watering sizzle prepared by seasoning sliced potato and chicken, then putting the contents in the oven to bake until the chicken is cooked  and the potatoes are tender (about 25 – 30 minutes).
Baked potato is an exceptionally healthful low calorie, high fibre food that offers significant protection against cardiovascular disease and cancer.
P.S: You could also try this out with sweet potato if you prefer.
Let’s know your thought on this meal, would you try it this Easter season with family and friends?

Fast-Food versus Home-Cooked Meal
Tumblr media
“Need a Break, Have a Meal” cos they “They’re GR-R-R-reat”
Hey foodies! Let us gather here and make our preference known. Our choice of conversation points are always yummy!
We want to know fast food or home-cooked meal? Which one do you prefer and why?
Here are the pros and cons of both, read it and let’s know your thoughts
Pros
Saves Time: One of the advantages of choosing fast food over home cooked meals is the time saving element.
Convenient: Nigerians love fast food because there are establishments in almost all the corners and streets in the city making it easy and convenient to get. Take Dominos Pizza and Chicken Republic for example. They are everywhere.
Cons of Fast Food
Health: Most fast food restaurants offer calorie dense, high cholesterol meal options. If you are considering leading a healthy lifestyle, fast food restaurants is not the place for you. Unless it is a fast food salad bar.
So we want to hear your voice fellow foodies, which do you prefer, why? or if you make do with both alternatively, why do you?

Energy Drink: Good or Bad?
‘Red Bull gives you wings...Unleash the beast...Drinks like a soda, kicks like an energy drink...’ one thing is for sure, Energy Drinks are intended to boost your energy, alertness and concentration.
In addition to Caffeine the main ingredient, Energy Drinks, are also made up of are sugar (sucrose & glucose), Taurine, Vitamin B and so on.
The bone of contention on whether energy drinks are good or bad is as a result of the Caffeine. Caffeine, the main ingredient is said to be the cause of health concerns especially when this main ingredient is mixed with other ingredients.
A can of Energy Drink contains as much as 500 mg of caffeine which is equivalent to five cups of coffee. The jury is still out but the recommended maximum amount of coffee per day is 3-4 cups.
Within the last 20 years, Energy Drinks have become a club mixer where people are mixing this stimulant with Alcohol which is a depressant.
When the stimulant and depressant are mixed, you become something we call ‘wide awake drunk’ making you feel like you can drink more than you normally would. You are also more likely to have psychological and physiological conditions such as anxiety, panic, nausea, heart palpitations.
Energy drinks will help you overcome fatigue, especially when you are in your late 20s upwards, wake up at ungodly hours to get to work on time, spend countless hours in Lagos Traffic on your way home and then your University friends come to town - you don’t have a choice! Have to show them a good time.
So let’s throw it out to you, do you consume Energy Drinks? And how do you consume them?

Are you willing to share your recipe as a Caterer/Chef?
Hey Foodies, ‘good food tastes good’
We conducted a focus group session with Chefs/Caterers and we asked them the same question thrown to you:
Are they willing to share their recipes?
Interestingly, majority were not comfortable with the idea of sharing their recipes because they see it as the core of their business; the recipe was not easy to come by, hence their unwillingness to share.
Tumblr media
We want to know what you think about sharing your recipes, is it a yay or nay for you? what are your reservations concerning it if any?
