Collection of musical scores by Mari Lesteberg which present visual narratives with the music they dictate:

Inspired by Andrew Huang and his MIDI unicorn, I make midi compositions that forms a picture. It’s called a MIDI drawing, and it’s entirely stupid, but incredibly fun to make.

Border
Project from Elevenplay and Rhizomatiks is a mixed reality dance performance featuring robotic wheelchairs, custom HMDs and dancing in both the real and the virtual:
youtube
“border” is an innovative style of dance performance since it consists of the participation of both dancer and audience. Audiences are able to feel the installation space with their senses by riding personal mobilities all controlled by the system. 10 WHILLs -the personal mobility audiences ride- are prepared, so that 10 people can join at one time of the performance. This means, audiences who do not ride WHILL can enjoy the stage from outside of the performance area. Those who rides WHILL, put on headset formed display of virtual reality at first, and the small camera is set up on the surface of that display. These WHILLs are controlled by the system through radio wave, so that people cannot control them directly, and 10 WHILLs move on the stage in each speed and movement  by the control of automatic computer programs. “WHILL” is produced by the WHILL Inc.
With the start of dance performance, audiences can see the virtual space of the stage through the display they put on, and also the real scene through the camera set up on the headset formed display. AR, augmented reality, enables people to enjoy both scenes of virtual and real, so that they can appreciate the stage from each point of view while each WHILL moves around. On the stage, some dancers of ELEVENPLAY share the space with WHILL, and perform their dance. In the AR, the seamless transition of real movements of real dancers and virtual movements of virtual dancers on the data, are showed to audiences on the WHILL. Then audiences can be greatly excited by the both worlds of spatial and physical expression. Since real dancers touch audiences sometimes, they may be pulled back to the real space, and realized themselves as the real physical existence. This installation space will be presented as one that can be appreciated from outside of the stage as well.
Here is a view of the whole performance from the outside:

Plexus | Cannula
Two artworks by Daniel Canogar using digital frames, coding and the internet.
The first here is Plexus which is a moving array of various hand gestures:
vimeo
Plexus questions the hand of the artist as the origin of an artwork in the digital era. The clusters of hands seen in the artwork – those of the artist – depict fingers weaving in the air to form undulating curtain-like formations. The rhythms of the hands resemble the choreography of Busby Berkeley and Esther Williams films from the 1930s, as well as the use of humans as mass ornament in the Third Reich’s Nuremberg parades. Hands, so present through the history of art since the first cave paintings, here succumb to multiple synchronized rhythms, evoking the mass production of the global market.

The second artwork is called Cannula which uses YouTube videos as foundations which are then abstracted into moving abstract fluid forms:
vimeo
Searches I have recently performed on You Tube include “how to hang a heavy artwork on a drywall panel”, “10 most popular videos with cats”, or “ex-athlete Bruce Jenner tells his daughters he will become a woman”. From the sinister to the banal, from educational to entertainment or the testimonial, You Tube has exploded traditional media cannons. Anyone with a cell phone can potentially become an audiovisual director. The result is a relentless excess of material – 300 hours of new material uploaded every hour and more than a billion videos presently available on the site – that would take 60,000 years of uninterrupted viewing to see. It is impossible to catalogue or decipher this visual encyclopedia of the 21st Century.
We are unable to cognitively process so much information. Cannula attempts to represent this cognitive overwhelm by turning You Tube videos into abstract shapes. I often choose to generate content using garbage found in my environment. In this case, I explore how You Tube turns media into waste. Cannula evokes the fragmented visual mosaic that my brain contains after years of being exposed to this new window-onto-the-world we call Internet.

Floating Prophecies
Short film by Nicolas Maigret is a collage of footage and 20th Century science fiction on the subject of drone technology:
vimeo
The figure of the drone serves as the starting point for this film, enabling it to explore the intersections that exist between fictional depictions arising from science-fiction literature and the actual advent of flying machines with camera vision in contemporary world, folklore and mythology. By juxtaposing quotes from works from the previous century (1880 - 2000) with a selection of popular, recent videos that have been posted on video sharing websites, this film explores the grey zone between self-fulfilling prophecy and composite narratives.

We're all sentient beings ... In the future that's all that will define us.
In 200 years, humans will be “godlike cyborgs”. Sweeeeeet.
Tumblr media
Sure, things have changed a hell of a lot in the past 200 years, but for the most part, people have been the same for hundreds of thousands of years. However, some believe that 200 years from now, human beings may be godlike cyborgs, living far longer than currently biologically possible, connected to the global information web and technologically augmented to be smarter, quicker, faster and generally awesomer.
